Maybe Sakurai's team will look into the 3DS feedback so they ultimately balance them for the WiiU (and update the 3DS accordingly).
I wonder what are all the reasons for the 3DS summer release. I thought balance but their gotta be more then just that.
But I might end up using custom moves for screwing around and use the defaults most of the time.
I wonder if the competitive scene will let players use custom moves...
Didn't they say it started as a 3DS game, and Wii U was started later?

Again, I think they probably just have more work done on the 3DS version overall and the Wii U version started up later in development. Plus having to make all sorts of stages with full HD quality probably isn't the easiest thing ever.
It makes sense to release the 3DS version in the summer and the WiiU version in the winter.
In the summer more people will be going on vacation, and so will most likely be using the 3DS more. 3DS already has a pretty big user base and so has a lot of potential buyers.
In the winter more parents are willing to buy big consoles and games (like a WiiU + Smash Bros) because of the holidays. So there's more chance they will sell more WiiU consoles at that time of year. Plus all the HD models, animations, effects, and stages will probably take longer.
And having the launches split up gives people who might not normally buy both games a chance to save up money and buy both. Maybe I'm just thinking too deep with this point though.
Also I couldn't imagine just not taking the WII U models and textures and compressing them for the 3DS, seems like any other workflow would be super time wasting. You just don't make things look "lower res" to start, everything in design, whether it's video, music, graphics, are done in the highest quality then toned down for the final platform
Honestly, what i'm trying to think on is the solo modes. Arcade is a given, and Sakurai outright stated All-Stars would obviously be back in relation to the Assist Trophies. Since my internet sucks and I don't really have any friends where I live, I'll probably just have to deal with the base solo modes minus an Adventure/Subspace Emissary.
Question- the custom skill sets is confirmed for both versions, right?
I'm very interested in what it will entail. The fact that you can customize the effects of attacks so drastically is really cool, though I'm afraid that you can only customize the specials rather than the physicals of the attacks. Oh well, we'll see when we get there.
Also, I think that the wii u version will have some sort of adventure mode, but is a lot more in depth than Smash Run, enough to separate the U version with the 3DS version.

I get the feeling that at E3 at some point, Sakurai will go "Hey remember that Subspace story mode crap that was in Brawl? The one we confirmed that wasn´t going to return? Yeah, we lied about that too."
Man can dream.
I'd love for the Wii U's Adventure Mode to be Subspace Emissary 2. It would make a nice contrast to Smash Run, which is probably gonna be considered as 3DS's Adventure Mode.
I really hope they don't hide a character unlock as a way to promote connecting the 3DS version to the Wii U version.
This thought came across my mind last night, and I hope it doesn't happen.
I wonder what Kirby's Wii Fit Trainer costume will be
White with Wii Fit Trainer's facial features.

They (most likely) won't do that- holding a character for half a year? By that time no one would have given a crap and have already created several "how to not suck as X character" guides.
At most, I suspect trophies and other such things to be trading fodder between the two versions. Hell, maybe a stage or two, but that's stretching it.

Nah, too easy to confuse with other kirbies on stage. I suspect the shirt and only the shirt, because Kirby doesn't wear pants.

Also, totally gonna try and get a Substitute doll imported. Because that shit's cool looking.

I was bored :v:
I really hope this game is a bit more like Melee in terms of unlocking stuff. I liked having to put forth some effort to unlock the last couple secret characters.

It'd be better if every character had their own independently designed story mode, which is what was suggested.

Zero Suit Samus' would be trying to get her suit back, as her colossal melons are attracting unwanted attention of fans. She then dons her rocket-slut stilettos and hooker-whip to save her public image!
Wii Fit Trainer's would be discovering all the horrendous rule 34 fan art of her, but then finding all the people who jerk it to it are horrendously out of shape and goes on a quest to get them FIT.
Kinda hoping for a limited edition release, got the limited edition for Super Smash Brawl as well so it would tie up neatly.
Also, why did he specifically mentioned that you need a fast internet connection to play SSB 3DS online? I understand that the fast gameplay needs to be supported by a good connection but he didn't really mentioned it by the Wii U besides that they recommend a LAN connector.

As long as they're not grinds a la Mewtwo. Challenges should be challenging not dull.
Think if you unlock characters in the 3DS version they'll get automatically unlocked in the WiiU version if you connect the two?

I play melee with my buddy every time I come over his house and we still haven't gotten the guy.
You get Mewtwo by leaving the console on overnight. The results are just like Christmas morning...
I hope the unlockables are all just "beat all-star mode with X character to unlock Y character, play through with Y character to get Z" scenarios.
Tying character unlocks to total multiplayer matches or total play time is a dick move.

But it has always been either a specific condition OR total matches played, which wasn't that bad at all.

Why not multiple unlock conditions; you can play multiplayer a lot to unlock them and the game tells you how it counted it, or you can scurve through the modes to get more than just hard difficulty trophies, which takes more effort but unlocks them faster? I'm pretty sure Melee did that, and I think Brawl technically did it but it was so easy just unlocking everyone through Subspace mode automatically besides 3-4 'secrets' you had to find through replays.
It was probably easier in brawl to just do the versus matches, what with all of SSE's padding
There have been at least a couple characters where the "certain number of matches" unlock method is actually significantly easier to achieve, which isn't how it should be.
Just have all unlockable characters tied to All-Star mode this time. It'd get you familiar with all the characters and would make getting everyone day-one actually doable, which I'm sure we'd all appreciate.

Also, they could be made viral unlocks in online multiplayer as an additional way to obtain them. Beat someone who is using an unlockable character, and you unlock that character as a result.
I wonder what the rewards will be for being super high on the leaderboards (other than glory).

On that note, I think I like their more positive approach to global score.
"Here's how many people you're better than" rather than "Here's how many people are better than you"
