akira toriyama
Oh, right on time, we were just talking about reusing concepts in everything.
nlockables obtained via treasure hunts
Or "Sakurai Grids" as I like to call them.
Well, it's not just functions and concepts. He also likes some consistent design or something; Air Ride, Brawl, Uprising and now SSB4 all have really similar menus.
And those are what I call "Sakurai Menus." Melee and SSB64 also had that style, as did a few other Kirby games like Nightmare in Dream Land. Sakurai loves his abstract vector imagery, and I can't blame him; it's rubbed off onto my own methods. In any case, the guy certainly has a distinctive style.
So for Smash 4? I'm guessing something to do with Hanafuda cards and other pre-video game designs such as the various toys made like the Ultra Hand (LOVE HOTEL STAGE PLS) since Nintendo has long had the strategy of adapting to the times.
Love Hotel thrusts into battle!
Love Hotel thrusts into battle!
...And its final smash will bring the battle to an explosive climax!
Well, it's not just functions and concepts. He also likes some consistent design or something; Air Ride, Brawl, Uprising and now SSB4 all have really similar menus.
well they are some snazzy looking menus
...And its final smash will bring the battle to an explosive climax!
Bayonetta confirmed. We've solved the riddle. Seriously though I think I'm more excited for Smash Run then the actual fighting part of the game. I remember spending hours farting around in City Trial because it was just so fun running ar-WARNING METEOR SWARM INCOMING WARNING DYNABLADE IS PISSED WARNING THERE ARE STARS [EVERYWHERE] Was always funny to me that there are 5 minutes to gather everything and some games are literally just "Throw yourself at a wall" and over in about half a second :v: Edit: Also can't remember where I read it but the smash menu's and sakurai's "bubble buttons" in his game is apparently because his wife/girlfriend/whatever designed them :v:
Oh, right on time, we were just talking about reusing concepts in everything.
I'm pretty sure we were talking about GOOD concepts though
In any case, the guy certainly has a distinctive style.
sakurai's wife is actually the one who designed all of the smash bros UI and menus (and even some of the stages) http://kyoto-report.wikidot.com/michiko-sakurai that also includes kirby air ride and kid icarus uprising as well

I prefer the version where For Fun is the same, but For Glory is also the same with added angry eyebrows to all the characters.

I play Fox only, Final Destination. Without any milk.
I guess I'll pick up the 3DS, not just for this, but it definitively pushed me over the edge. Then I will also get the Wii U version. It will be glorious.

I hope it comes in a bundle with a sweet design on the 3DS. I don't own one but this would definitely be a good reason to buy one. Neither does two friends of mine, which had no desire to own one until I contaminated them with my hype over time. It's highly contagious!
Well it looks like a nice handheld. The only thing is... I never get into situations where I need to play games on the go. However it would be nice to just lay in bed and play a game for an hour before sleeping or somethin

Just play it while you are sitting around or half watching TV.

Oh man I use my 3DS loads. I travel way too much I'm on planes every other month I swear, Nintendo is my savior for those 14 hour flights to Hong Kong or 20 hr flights to Australia.
Snake was a case of Kojima asking Sakurai to include him, wasn't it? I don't think he'll return, his 'slot' (as if they could ever be considered reserved) would probably go towards a Namco exec.
Kojima said he was up for having Snake in Smash 4 iirc
We just got to look at facts. Metal Gear Solid hasn´t been on a Nintendo platform since the Gamecube, with that one exception of the 3DS port.
We just got to look at facts. Metal Gear Solid hasn´t been on a Nintendo platform since the Gamecube, with that one exception of the 3DS port.
and that clearly means nothing because he was in brawl
and that clearly means nothing because he was in brawl
It means everything because he was in a Gamecube game, which helped him in joining Brawl.
It means everything because he was in a Gamecube game, which helped him in joining Brawl.
i don't think that had anything to do with it, did it? i thought Kojima just asked Sakurai if they could include snake and he agreed to it, i don't think snake being in a gamecube game really had much influence on the inclusion of snake in brawl.

To the point where, it was planned for him and Sonic to be in Melee, but then eventually they were saved for Brawl.
Why are we still speculating based on arbitrary rules that we made up? It's literally whoever they want, whenever they feel like it.
You´re wrong, Metal Gear Solid having a game on the Gamecube had everything to do with his influence. Both were big names on NES. That and Sakurai picks whoever the fuck he wants.
I´m not trying to say there are rules to the matter, I´m just pointing out that in Snake´s case, it was his influence on the Gamecube in The Twin Snakes. Mega Man´s case was really high demand from the fans.
He could add characters like Mii and Captain Rainbow if he wants too. Hell, he could add Ridley running around in a tutu and high heels if he fucking wants to.

Also, Twin Snakes came out years after Melee, so it couldn't have influenced his planned inclusion in that at all. I'm not saying Snake is definitely coming back, but to say he's definitely not coming back is also wrong. It could go either way, and we'll only know for certain once the game comes out.
