Been playing FE:A recently, and i'm hopeful that [sp]Lucina[/sp] gets in.
If any FE:A rep could get in I hope it would be [sp]Anna[/sp] because it'd be better than your regular sword character. Also I think she's cute.
How do you think the Best Buy event is going to work? Is it going to last the duration of E3 only? Even if there's around four tv's set up per Best Buy, I can't imagine waiting under an hour to get a turn unless you camp out. Plus all that waiting for just a (most likely) 2 minute time battle. I want to play it just as much as anyone, but maybe it's smarter to wait for the flood of youtube videos that will come of this.
I hope the comp players will dare to try new characters in the E3 tournament, instead of being safe and pick their old Brawl main.
I hope the comp players will dare to try new characters in the E3 tournament, instead of being safe and pick their old Brawl main.
I'd love to see what they think of Mega Man's moveset.
I hope the comp players will dare to try new characters in the E3 tournament, instead of being safe and pick their old Brawl main.
I'd kill to see some sick Rosalina or WFT matches.
I think it's interesting that the first real footage we're going to get of this Smash Bros is of high end competitive play which while still being recognisable as Smash, is distinctly different from how the game is going to play for most casual players.
I hope the comp players will dare to try new characters in the E3 tournament, instead of being safe and pick their old Brawl main.
And then not only does everyone pick a new character, everyone picks Little Mac. Sneak peek at the next five years of the franchise competitively, right there. [editline]t[/editline] I'm being totally serious when I say I believe Little Mac will be the highest-tier character that isn't banned, if he doesn't wind up banned. A lightning-fast ground game, a lunge strike with upward knockback that lag-cancels itself if it connects, a powerful counter with minimal startup, and a power special / OHKO finisher operating on meter.
My project M strategy: Don't play it [editline]30th April 2014[/editline] All hail vanilla brawl
I've played a lot of Brawl, and I'm awfully sick of tripping. I'm ready to try something a little different now, and seeing smash 4 is still a ways off, I'm gonna be trying out project M :v: Plus I've been dying to try that brawler Wario
I hope the comp players will dare to try new characters in the E3 tournament, instead of being safe and pick their old Brawl main.
rofl do you actually think players that are gonna be invited are all brawl players half of the melee players don't play brawl and the other half plays meta knight only [editline]30th April 2014[/editline]
And then not only does everyone pick a new character, everyone picks Little Mac. Okay, then let me be more specific: The lunge has a specific launch trajectory, slightly up and slightly forward. This trajectory lines up perfectly to allow the Little Mac player to immediately follow up with the OHKO punch before the target has even landed, with too little time between the two to maneuver away in the air unless your percentage is very high. This combined with the speed of the lunge, how little startup it has and the distance it covers, you'll NEED to abuse superior air game over them to avoid being trapped and instantly destroyed, if the LM player is aware how to do this. All they have to do is run around sneaking in chip damage to build meter, and once the bar's ready they can just grabthrow, follow up with the lunge and that's that.
None of his crazy ass combo game matters when he has the worst air recovery on a game that is focused on staying alive in the air for long (all recoveries are broken except for Little Mac's). If he's the only char you can edgeguard and gimp, you can give him all the moves you want, he'll be a bad character.
The lunge is a B move, which means unless it has a different variant in the air (this has yet to be seen), he could use it to easily get back on the stage unless he's under it. It's not unlike how Fox and Falco's side-B dashes are generally superior recoveries unless they're below the stage. [editline]t[/editline] He won't be broken , but he might be seen as a character which too heavily favors stalling. If your air game is good and you've got a reliable meteor you'll have an advantage either way.
It's not unlike how Fox and Falco's side-B dashes are generally superior recoveries unless they're below the stage.
Yeah okay gonna stop arguing you have no clue how competitive Smash works.
Mac looks like he's gonna be Ike 2.0; he'll wreck scrubs, but he'll have trouble against players who can take advantage of his weaknesses.
On the note of the SSB4 tourney though, I think that'd be kind of a cool way to reveal another newcomer. The final bout happens, applause and declaration of the winner, but then abruptly in the middle of the fanfare... NEW CHALLENGER APPROACHING. A trailer for the character plays, and then they become the first person to ever fight and unlock them.

Until they lose, just to piss the world off. Actually I'd enjoy that too.
New character will be on the experimental level 10 difficulty. It reacts as if it is doing a TAS and can instantly react to whatever its opponent can do. Then it becomes self-aware and then Reggie has to sacrifice himself by blowing the whole building up after teleporting all the civilians out. [sp]That sounded like a story a 12 year old would tell.[/sp]
Or Sakurai is controlling them remotely. [editline]t[/editline] The difficulty the person facing them would probably have, would be the fact they have no idea what the new character's moves or movement style or ANYTHING is. The trailer just reveals the character, the fight is the gameplay footage.
I hope they make the CPUs more customizeable somehow, or at least a little smarter.
I hope they make the CPUs more customizeable somehow, or at least a little smarter.
Granular, Uprising style difficulty with "Try this!" recommendations depending on how good a player it perceives you to be, that'd be nice. Upgrade level 9 to near-cheating levels of perception and reaction time (with 7 being what 9 is now) as well. Give even competitive players a challenge.
As long as they fix them focusing only on the human players, that'll be fine. I'm tired of being in a battle royale with three computer players, and they'll wait for me to respawn. They will ignore each other for the most part, maybe do a jab or throw one, but all their focus will be on me. Might as well had it a 1v3 team match.
I wanna see them smack the crap out of Yellow Devil

I wonder if there will be any Smash related swag at the Best Buy event.

I'd say yes. Perhaps it could behave similarly to Mario's cape in item form, turning players and projectiles around.
I'd say yes. Perhaps it could behave similarly to Mario's cape in item form, turning players and projectiles around.
As someone who likes using projectile characters: Pls no. There's already all of the starfox characters, mario's cape, the franklin badge, Game and Watch (if he comes back), Ness, Pit's guardian orbitars, Rosalina, and I'm sure there's other anti-projectile measures I'm forgetting. Why would you want us projectile guys to suffer?
cus projectiles are lame, fight like a MAN
