Of all threads, it had to choose this one.
I'm so hype for the gamecube controller whatsit
i was planning on just using old classic controller pros but i'll definitely pick up one or two of those
I certainly hope they don't use a microswitch for this gamecube-inspired controller. Don't get me wrong, I love microswitches, but PDP goes cheap with them and they wear down very quickly.
This won't be good for the competitive community anyway, unless they make them wire directly into the console there's going to be connection problems in a big room full of Wii Us
[t]http://i.imgur.com/S28EW6P.jpg[/t]
Pic of the day. In previous games in the series, if you chose the red team in a team battle, your Mario would have been red. But now you can choose any color you want! The color outlining the characters will show their team affiliation.
Everyone who thought that the colors from yesterday confirmed team battles just got shown what's what.
I wonder how the team outlining will look on the Wii U version
I wonder how the team outlining will look on the Wii U version
If the Wii U version even has it.
If the Wii U version even has it.
I imagine it will; I can't see them splitting something like that between versions. Although he said there wouldn't be the standard black outlines in normal gameplay for the Wii U version, my guess is that was more of a stylistic decision rather than a technical one. He may have even changed his mind on the Wii U one not having an outline setting.
that's actually a really cool change it always annoyed me that i couldn't use some characters defult colours in team battles i like this
It's good, I suspect that this means there won't be alt colors for characters like the villager though, and the four alts we saw were his "colors".
It's good, I suspect that this means there won't be alt colors for characters like the villager though, and the four alts we saw were his "colors".
That's fine with me. If freeing ourselves from the red-green-blue costume requirements for team battles means we can move away from mere palette swaps and fill out the alts with more actual costume changes, it's a move in the right direction if you ask me.
brawl already had a worthwhile transition with it's more elaborate alt colours, maybe the next step is indeed straight up model changes (bar pikachu)
this is most likely a 3DS feature though. the black lines are there to increase the readbility of the characters on that small screen, and it would be silly to not use said outline to define the team colors. I doubt they'll take the same route with the WiiU version. seems rather unnecesary to do so.(then again, it doesnt specify wich version gets that or if its an shared feature)
I doubt they'll take the same route with the WiiU version. seems rather unnecesary to do so.(then again, it doesnt specify wich version gets that or if its an shared feature)
sakurai tends to point out console exclusive content, though. when he introduced smash run he mentioned 50 times "3DS ONLY BTW".
The Wii U version will probably just rely on the player knowing which character is on which team, seeing as it doesn't have outlines to begin with. Or maybe they'll get a faint, colored aura in the Wii U version instead. A second pic for today would've been useful.
Supposedly a french mag confirmed NFC figures for SSB Wii U. From an interview with Nintendo France; http://www.lefigaro.fr/secteur/high-tech/2014/05/22/01007-20140522ARTFIG00230-mario-kart-8-va-relancer-les-ventes-de-la-wii-u.php So....hoorah!
lmao trusting Nintendo France just don't
Anyone else wish they didn't feel the need to have exponentially more characters in each installment? With all of the added content to this and Mario Kart (pink gold yayyyy), they could probably have made a third game?
welp this is a nice little development from MK64DS https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NFI101fzXbg no longer having to take pits slot is definitely a bonus and i swear the textures look better then when i last saw it i really cannot wait till its done

I'm really hoping more F-Zero GX songs get added into SSB4, especially the cover of Big Blue (Doubtful I know)
Pic of the day. Ike, the swordsman of magnificent strength, joins the battle!! Strike your foes down with his powerful smash attacks.

For this game, Ike's design is based on the hero that appears in Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn. His sword deals heavy damage in Smash Bros., so this design suits him very well! Rest assured, he can use Aether as well.
Oh shit. Genuinely unexpected.
So that makes 2 characters that people thought were going to be cut in SSB4 now (The other being Lucario)
I'm guessing there's less of a chance for more Fire Emblem characters then? Shame I would have like to have seen one from Awakening. Also Ike's page: http://www.smashbros.com/us/characters/ike.html
Wow, I didn't expect Ike back, nor a separate character announcement this close to E3. Nice.
His model is soooooo good
