Well, so far only two Fire Emblem characters are in the roster. The franchise could very much have a 3rd representative as Chrom, Lucina (to spice things up so it's just no males and another female character is always welcome) or anyone else from FA with a different playstyle to the other two. But goodness this put a massive smile on my face this morning. Seeing another character return is always welcome, especially if you know the next Pics will probably talk about interesting buffs/nerfs and overall changes. He looks really powerful now! He so jacked up, his big ass sword looks like a wimpy blade. I feel like they made it a lot shorter then the original but again, might be from all that extra meat.

I think she has no chance, (that and I personally think she's a really shallow and boring character). As stated Chrom is literally just another blue haired sword guy, and we already have 2 blue haired sword guys from FE, it would be like them putting Fox in the game 3 times but not even bothering to change his look. Newcomer: Fox in a T-shirt! Fox in Pajamas! etc.

If we're going to have another Fire Emblem character then at least make it somebody with a polearm or axe for some weapon variety. If we're going to have another sword user at least have them be from another series.

i feel they should put robin at this point (make the defult white hair design the main colour) and have all his/her b moves revolve around magic

There goes to show I know jack shit about the series. But isn't that a staple of the series, the whole blue haired heroes? Oh well... I'd be nice to have an axe or lance wielder from the series. That might sound pretty weird but a pegasus rider as a character would make for a very distinct character. If the JoJo fighting game pulled that off, I'm pretty sure Sakurai can too! At this point, who's a potential 3rd representative of the series outside of Lyn as an assist?

At this point, who's a potential 3rd representative of the series outside of Lyn as an assist?[/QUOTE] the horseback characters in ASB (johnny and gyro) take up like 50% of the screen which i personally found obnoxious, especially in a 1v1 fighting game if one was to be included in smash, he'd be taller than the biggest characters in the game if they wanted to scale them realistically, if not they'd look comically small compared to the rest of the fire emblem cast. like a midget riding a pony

man including 3 blue haired swordsmen would be like including 3 anthromorphic animals who all use a blaster, a reflector, a side-dash and a burning recovery... at least marth and ike are very different fighters, and sakurai has shown that he can take something like little mac (ALL HE CAN DO IS PUNCH!) and rosalina (ANOTHER PEACH RECOLOR, THIS TIME IN SPAAAAACE) and turn them into interesting fighters that even had a fair few detractors admitting that they looked interesting to play, regardless of what they thought of the actual character. chrom could have any number of interesting gimmicks. mac has a power meter, rosalina has a puppet character, etc. who knows, chrom could have a pair-up system, or could change classes somehow to allow for different weapon uses. i just don't think we should assume that a third blue haired swordsman would automatically be a boring fighter. i hate chrom, and lucina, but i also hate rosalina and she looks pretty fun to play.

i dont know why sakurai hates lyn so much.

Most people thought ike because of roy getting axed on brawl but there was literately no reason to to cut ike because unlike roy hes moveset was completely different from marths and quite frankly im glad he's back

[/QUOTE] Already burned that strawman so attempt it again. Visuals would be just too close to each other I feel, where with the fox clones they're visually distinct. One's a Fox, one's a bird, and one's a gray wolf with a lot of contrasting red. Playstyle wise they aren't nearly as diverse as the FE Lords, but visual wise they're hard to confuse with each other. Edit: Also he won't change class, that would count as transforming and that's already cut, he won't tag in other characters for the same reason come on man this is super basic stuff. It doesn't help that Chrom uses Ike's fighting style.

(The latter still has a slight chance, though.)[/QUOTE] There's no chance of Squirtle and Ivysaur returning, I'm pretty confident about that one and seriously someone please correct my Kojima/Sakurai thing as it's gonna be bothering me as I was pretty confident that I heard them deconfirm him. As for Lucas I'd be kind of indifferent, I liked him as a character but he pissed me off in Brawl simply due to "Lucas is here? Spoil [B]ALL[/B] OF MOTHER 3" thing, Wolf I can see being cut, him or Falco. Strange feeling they won't lose him though.

The only swordy character I'm interested in wouldn't use it for his B moves at least.

FE has way more in terms of character diversity, and yet every playable character from the series has been a sword-wielder.

It doesn't help that Chrom uses Ike's fighting style.[/QUOTE] except they're visually distinct? when you paint in broad strokes of course they look the same. how is "anthromorphic animals in space gear" any different from "blue haired sword users". they have different builds, different animations, and actually fight like different characters. why is star fox allowed with the same moveset with different colors but fe can't have actually different move sets with similar colors? my point with offering possibilities for chrom is that sakurai has shown he can turn what people would think are uninteresting fighters and make them really fun. hell, i don't think anyone considered a power meter for mac or the puppet mechanic for rosalina; we could get something for chrom that's completely out of left wing.

If I wanted to play a serious fighting game I wouldn't play Smash Bros. Not saying serious as in competitive, just the style. Cartoony characters are the majority because that's the kind of characters Nintendo creates. Also people who play Marth/Roy/Ike are usually neck-bearded man children Strong alpha men play the Jiggs or Yoshi ok might be joking a bit but still

Don't get me wrong here haveing Ike back is awesome and his new get up is badass, but damit I just want Wario to be announce already!

Adding a 3rd generic anime design (I like Chrom, mind) that looks the same is, once again, a problem. I'm not saying it's impossible to make Chrom play different, it's just that he'd look too similar to the others and his fighting style is Ikes Aether and all. Hell I even said the FE Lords are way more diverse then the SF crew, it's just the SF crew is easier to tell apart from a glance due to their different bodyshape/colors instead of all looking similar if they were all lined up. If someone from Awakening got in, it really should be Robin of all people as the visual difference isn't a problem, and Robin is THE main character alongside Chrom, and it lets them do something other then generic blue haired sword guy.

If there's going to be a third FE rep I really hope it's going to be Robin rather than Chrom. Technically he/she is the main character and when you think of it, everything Chrom does becomes useless if you make a particular choice in the game. Also, if anything, dual strikes and reclassing would be much more fitting since he/she can support with every character in the game and reclass as any playable class. Yeah this would work with Chrom as well, but it'd be wasted potential in my opinion. And as a bonus, we get a (potentially) female character who doesn't exclusively use swords.

I like Ike more than Marth. Mostly because I enjoy swinging around heavy swords that are more like blunt objects than Marth's wimpy letter-opener tier sword.

I fucking love Ike. On that allstars battle thing you can instantly kill Mr. Game and Watch on Intense, if you ran straight towards him and do his Side-A attack.

Ike was great against people who were bad at the game, but as soon as you face someone competent he is too easy to dodge. I hope he is sped up in this game

Now that Ike is in hopefully a non-sword user from Awakening will join the roster. Or at least someone who uses both magic and swords, like Robin.
