I think the most we will get are slight remodels to accompany certain pallets. Lucas could get different hair to go with his Claus outfit, Peach gets shorter hair and a flower brooch for her Daisy outfit.

Unless they have paid DLC, in which case I can easily see that kind of costume or even clones in the case of free DLC.

Considering how much everyone loved Overalls Wario and wanted things like Dr. Mario over Mario, I wouldn't be surprised if they go for it. They definitely have some awareness of what people want in the community, and Sakurai is such a cool guy, he knows exactly what the people want with regards to new characters and movesets.

anyway another costume I'd like to see is Ref Mario from Punch Out, dude rocks that bow tie

Alternate costumes for some of the characters would be cool. Would love to have an equally creepy girl villager and a male WFT.

Daisy for a Peach costume would be cool. Not just a crappy recolor, but a new model for Daisy.

It's like an excuse to add clones without adding new Characters slots.

I don't see him as highly likely either, I could imagine Luigi getting a Waluigi color scheme, but I believe there's way too much of a difference in height and general silhouette for Luigi to get a Waluigi alternative costume.

My best guess is probably that most of his moveset is going to be based on things like mario tennis, mario strikers, the minigames from mario party, and the bombs in double-dash. Then again... we'll never know if Nintendo would choose to add him as a completely new and unique character the same way they did with Captain Falcon... but yeah, the possibility is slim at best

Yeah. Mario has a Wario palette too I think. I just don't think we're likely to get anymore than a color palette in terms of a Waluigi alternative costume.

On another matter... my personal guess on characters not returning are foremost on Sonic and Snake for being third party. I still think that Nintendo probably still want to retain the idea that Super Smash Brothers is mainly for Nintendo characters, and that 3rd party characters are merely guest appearances rather than solid members. With Megaman filling a huge part as a 3rd party character, and further new 3rd party characters still being possible, my guess is they won't add Snake and Sonic because it could make the game feel too much as a crossover of any iconic videogames characters rather than a crossover of iconic Nintendo characters.

If they're complaining about too little newcomers then they obviously weren't aware of how brawl characters were announced.
And to me, the models aren't too samey, take bowser for example (and samus). Nothing much to do with mario and stuff since they're so simple.
