I have 2 but the control sticks are janky and barely have any rubber on them anymore.
I do have several GC controllers, but they're all pretty worn down, loose control sticks, broken buttons, the usual battle scars, etc. Hopefully they include one along with the adapter.
Pretty sure you can buy GC sticks online. Heck, you can even buy a broken controller for cheap and take its buttons for your own controller. (that's what I did with mine w/ some cleaning, and although it's sunfaded, it's not the garbage it was a week ago) It's pretty easy, you just need the right tools. Not like the Playstation controllers. Those are bitches. That also makes me realize that this is just a black controller with the Smash logo; it'll be pretty easy to copy.
I have two GC controllers already, but I'm going to buy the SSB4 one in a heartbeat if they actually sell it. Also, good on Nintendo for giving people the option to keep using the GameCube controller.

This looks super interesting actually, I was kind of disappointed that best buy wasn't going to have any demos near me but this makes up for it. Also, I noticed the video says that they can only pick one character for the whole tournament, so hopefully we get some actual character variety.
The question is, will the adapter work for old Wii games that also use the GC controller as an alternate input?
My silver Gamecube controller I got from my GC Double Dash bundle has no rubber on its stick, the c-stick is missing it's top part. It's also got some electrical tape on it to protect exposed wires. Still gonna use it though, of course.
I think the screws have either gummed up, or rusted to an unopenable state on my original Gamecube controller. Works fine but repairs are going to be next to impossible.
The legacies of our old and worn controllers carry on.
Gamecube controllers are hella durable, my oldest (and already beat up) GC controller got ran over by a truck because my eight year old cousin managed to take it and leave it on the driveway, it still somehow works despite being nearly snapped in half.
I still have my old 3 gamecube controllers, one of them of which were chewed up by my dog. Yet ironically it still works better than the other 2.
that's nintendonium, baby
I thought it was Nintendium.
I thought it was Nintendium.
I'm bad with names. :v:
iirc the Gamecube controller was re-released for the Wii in Japan in 2008. It was crystal white, had a waaay longer cable than the original and is now quite rare. (mainly because it's the perfect controller to paint on, I guess) It was to advertise the fact that games like Mario Kart Wii and Brawl were playable with such a controller. I wouldn't be surprised if they did it again, but I hope it'll find its way out of Japan this time.
You mean this one? It's not so rare since they still sell it for $35.
Hey, I still have my GC controller!... [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/dqzLjrT.jpg[/thumb] Oh... I don't remember it being this bad... At least the controller itself is alright.
My controllers are in tip top shape.
Gamecube Z button sucks though [editline]29th May 2014[/editline] Did anyone else rebind R to grab?
I'm glad that objectively the best video game controller ever designed is getting another new lease on life. [editline]t[/editline]
Gamecube Z button sucks though [editline]29th May 2014[/editline] Did anyone else rebind R to grab?
I always used shield (R/L) + A. If your opponent is close enough where you're continuously shielding their attacks, nine times out of ten they're close enough to grab.
Gamecube Z button sucks though [editline]29th May 2014[/editline] Did anyone else rebind R to grab?
I actually rebinded grab to X because our Z button didn't work. Now I practically can't live without it, but I feel like it may be best to ditch that habit in favor of R+A.
What the hell do you guys do with your controllers. The only abuse my GC controller has is the left analog has black marks from doing 360's like a maniac on 1080 Avalanche and the snaking in DoubleDash. The rubber on top of it is flattened a bit too. That's it. And I played the shit out of my GC games.
I always use Z. I don't know, it's just natural and convenient for me. I use default controls through and through.
I have some left stick sensitivity issues on my wavebird and some weird shit going on with the power switch and it not realizing that it's on sometimes the other ones are fine but dirty as all hell, ought to clean them at some point since they'll be getting used [editline]asdf[/editline] I use Z in the air most of the time to do worthless shit like shooting the hookshot out to hit people I tend not to use it to grab
its like the only game that actually damaged the original N64 controller's only weak spot, the analog stick, was in fact mario party and its stupid bicycle minigame. hell, i don't know what you do with your controllers, i still got both my NES/Famicom ones in top shape and i got these like 20 years ago.
Now only if i can find the other half of my Wavebird.... The hunt begins!
RIP controllers
RIP hands
So some people here and on another site are wondering why the heck the adapter uses two USB ports, and it's a valid question, but I think I know why: Latency Each USB 2.0 port is fast enough to handle the raw input of two Gamecube controllers at the same polling rate as the original system. Putting all four on a single input would double the delay, which would be tremendously disorienting or frustrating for people used to the original latency, especially in a game so heavily dependent on reaction time as Smash. [editline]t[/editline] This is the same reason why many fighting game veterans will tell you never to connect a USB fight stick to anything other than the system itself; the more you put on a single line (USB hubs, extension cables, etc), the longer the delay becomes.

that gamecube controller adapter.. they really do want this to be the best smash bros game yet. they're actually showing that they give a fuck about the competitive community, not only with this adapter but with the whole final destination thing, for glory mode and the invitational tournament. this game is gonna be fucking amazing
