Ditch Lucario, bring back Mewtwo and give him the abilty to Shiek-Switch into Newtwo.

It would be neat if Mewtwo turned into his Awakening form if he breaks the Smash Ball, if they bring back the Smash Ball.

Shame, I was kinda' hoping that Final Smashes wouldn't be tied to an item anymore.

It also gives more of a tense feeling not knowing who is going to be the one to break it.

Damage dealt while final smash is active does not contribute to this damage counter for future final smashes. I could imagine if you somehow manage to do 150+ on someone without getting KO'd yourself, you kinda deserve to punt their head out of the map. However, that does tread on dangerous ground, as a steamrolling player will only get more momentum that way. It being a distinct item creates a minigame when it spawns. Players subconsciously drop what they're doing and beat the tar out of one another to get to it first. It's a bit of a rush, really. Especially when you can knock it out of people before they use it and then you get a second chance to nab it. [editline]12th June 2013[/editline] I know Brawl had a mercy final smash, where if a player got KO'd enough times in a row without KO'ing anyone, they'd spawn with a Final Smash active that cannot be beaten out of them. So it's very possible for them to code something that'll grant the smashball's effects without it being standalone if the player wants it that way.

I'm rather hoping Tom Nook is actually a playable character instead.

I don't think that being absent in the background of a stage is a qualifier as a possibility of being playable since pretty much everyone is possibly on the table right now.
