I can imagine Greninja being a very tactical type of character.
I spent the whole match learning what the Smash Attack on the right analog stick is
Then I said fuck it and did the left analog + button smash combos.
Rosalina is gonna be tough to learn and play. But when my moves connected, they hit hard.
I noticed from the Treehouse footage that Mario's victory theme is the traditional fanfare, but Bowser's sounds like it's a remix made with an electric guitar. This is very similar to how Meta Knight's victory theme was a remixed version of the Kirby Dance. More variations of victory themes confirmed?

Rosalina's victory theme is a variant on "Star Get" from Galaxy.
Oh yeah, the results screen made me happy. That Smash 64 music~
I was first in line at my Best Buy. Helped the lone Nintendo rep set up shop and he let me play some bouts before the event was supposed to start.
I rocked house as Little Mac in every match. Nothing is as satisfying as landing that OHKO uppercut on some poor sod's chin.
Now seeing how fast Little Mac's OHKO punch is, I truly thing he's gonna be banned from competitive tournaments.

there's an early tier list around made by one of the people in the invitational, little mac was in bottom tier

You kidding? He's essentially the land master's (no pun intended) perfect character. If you have a character with a tight air game, you can practically dance circles around Little Mac, but if you underestimate him or try to take him on with a character that can't quite keep up, he's gonna make short work of you in the right hands. If anything I expect him to be the competitive scene's main face.
Got back from the Smash-Fest in Manchester. They only let us play one 2 minute match, which was a bummer. I decided to play as Mega Man even though I was worried I wouldn't do too well as him.
After playing as him I can say that he is a lot more... natural than I expected. I thought it would be hard to get used to as he's very projectile heavy, but goddamn, he was good. Flame Blast was super powerful, but there's a bit of a cool down. I tried hitting people with the Hard Knuckle to no avail. Unfortunately I didn't see any smash balls, and I forgot to taunt, too much in the moment.
I got second place, and first was a guy I made friends with while waiting in line got first, who was also Mega Man.
I'm not talking Mac's actual abilities. I'm talking about his literal OHKO move.
I personally love little mac after playing a couple matches as him, he Dominates on the ground.

Weirdly enough it's not actually OHKO. During the tournament Rosalina got hit by it and survived being knocked straight into the air. I think it was on the plane level, can't remember exactly.

It's not always a OHKO. It does 39% damage and it throws quite far, but from 0% it wont OHKO you.

She was at 0%, so she didn't have enough damage accumulated for it to truly be OHKO. It just sends them really high up automatically.

Thing is, you have to get hit or hit your opponent to increase it. If there's enough time between hits, it will reset pretty quickly. Plus, you need to be right in front of the guy you're try to fuse occipital to cervical.
Basically, if you can play keep away when his KO is up or bait it to miss, he's pretty S.O.L. And even if it hits, it won't OHKO at 0% or a little higher.
Also someone recorded Bowser's FS. It's just a more colorful GB:

Just came back from Smash-Fest as well, it was also cut down to one match for 2 minutes. I wanted to play Little Mac, but a guy near me wanted to use LM too so I decided to go with mega man. It's a bit weird at first when I was expected punches, and got pellets w/e, but by the first minute I started to get a handle. I have to admit I love the c-stick, like in brawl and melee, it's p much right hand movement, left c-stick, barely moving off of it, but since megaman's charged side smash is so reward, I didn't use the c-stick throughout the whole match (actually we used the pro controller so the right stick). I somehow won with a single ko and a single death.
There was also the 3ds version to the side, which I played after. There I played as little mac. As I expected he's perfect for me, a faster mover who powerful at close range. thought I learned that his side b can really fuck you up if it end up over the edge. It was a 1v1 vs. greninja, and it ended in sudden death. The other guy threw a small water shuriken, but my side b jumped over it and then connected for the kill.
In short it was great.
So I played as Villager, Sonic, Mega Man, and Samus.
In short, this game leans towards Brawl in feel it it's definitely tighter and much more refined. Playing as Villager feels nice, and sonic isn't as cheap. Mega Man takes some learning, and Samus is virtually the same. This game looks just fucking incredible. I know if I had a gamecube controller, motherfuckers would've been dead.
A closer look at the actual NFC figures, in case you haven't seen:

Even outside the carefully controlled lighting conditions of the promo imagery, they STILL look great. I'll be buying at least Fox day one.
I hope they are cheap, I want to buy them all for a collection.
If it comes down to it I'll just buy the Pac-Man one
Also the WiiU Pro controller feels great.

You'll have to wait. The set you see there is Series 1.
i'll probably get the DK and fox figurines just 'cause they look really cool.

Kirby it is then
I'll likely get Fox and Samus, maybe Pit as well if they're not terribly pricey.
[editline]t[/editline]
Rumors apparently peg them at around 1500¥, or roughly $15, which isn't as bad as I first imagined.

That's my boy.
Just got back from trying it myself. Waited 4 hours in line for a 2 minute game. Tried out Mega Man. Very fun, although the Pro controller feels pretty foreign in my hands. Kept finding that I was missing the buttons I wanted to hit.
Mega Man is super fun. His a charged forward A smash hits HARD and has super nice range. His Down A smash feels super satisfying. His forward tilt A (walking forward shooting pellets) is a safe way to advance on someone and then spike them with a smash. Firing a Crash Bomb into a crowd is funny, watching them all trade it back and forth and then simultaneously all blow up because proximity.
The game runs absolutely beautifully. Solid consistent 60 fps with full HD graphics = stunning. Very impressed.
The match just before mine had a Mega Man falling through the floor of the Punch Out Stadium stage. The associate was warning everyone that standing on the light fixtures above the stage might result in you clipping through the floor below. He got stuck directly under the floor of the ring for about 10 seconds before walking off some unseen ledge and dying. We laughed and forgave Sakurai.
All in all, had fun. Lots of cool people in line and the game certainly feels great.
