there were brawl tournaments for a while too though. they won't last as long as melees but there will be tournaments at least for a year or so after release

If Nintendo sticks with what they said, we can hope for yearly tourneys from them.
Nothing against the competitive players but reading posts like that just makes me happy I don't give a rats ass about tournys and have a bunch of smash loving friends who just like to have fun

With Pac-Man in the game, do you think we'll get a Ms. Pac-Man skin?
Since I can't seem to find it, the gif of Lucario using Bone Rush on Pikachu from the anime makes me wish he could have that as an alternate move.
Even though most alt. moves seem to be various tweaks on the existing moves other than new moves entirely.
Would definitely make for a nice smash, giving Lucario a but more diversity out of aura attacks.

also yes

also dunno if posted but Reggie confirmed Amiibos won't cost over $15
Both Skylander and Infinity figurines cost around $12.99, so mostly likely it'll be around that same price.
Homerun Contest
Honestly, if the price isn't too ridiculous, I can get behind Amiibo even if to have a nice Nintendo figure on my shelf. They look real nice quality.
I mean unlike Skylanders these double as nice Nintendo collectibles and will have a role in multiple titles. That sets it above skylanders figures in value if you ask me.
Once again, the fact I can finally (FINALLY) have a figurine of one of my favorite video game characters since childhood has me really excited, NFC be damned.
I'll gladly use that feature though. It's the sort of thing that would've blown my mind as a kid.
I'm honestly very curious as to how the Mr. Game and Watch amiibo will look. Surely they won't make it incredibly flat, because wouldn't it be fragile then? Thin plastic, in my experience, is never durable.

I was thinking of going to Smash Fest, but with crowds like that I'm hesitant.

considering that none of the alt costumes in-game are different characters i seriously doubt it.

I think he means like this

Well both Villager and Wii Fit Trainer have male and female alt constumes, and Pacman doesn't talk. All it'd take for Nintendo to add Ms. Pac-Man would be to add a bow and some eyelashes. It could be done and wouldn't be too outrageous, since they're functionally the same in their games aswell.
Though I don't know if it's a really necessary thing or not, it'd be a nice touch.

I want the villager simply because I love animal crossing

If the crowd was that big and you were at the back of the line, you weren't gonna play before they closed.

It's not really an issue of how hard it is, though. Sakurai's made a big deal out of keeping characters unique etc in the past; I don't see why this would be an exception.

Yeah, I understood that much. That doesn't change how Ms. Pac-Man is a separate character from Pac Man.
Technically Dark Link's a separate character :v:

I'd say no for 2 reasons
1. Unlike Male Trainer and Female Villager, Mrs Pacman isn't the same character as Pacman. Sakurai has said the game won't have alternative costumes that turn the character into a different character
2. Her design doesn't distinguish her enough as an alternative skin. She's got all the exact same colors as Pacman with the only difference being the bow and the eyelashes
Technically Dark Link's a separate character :v:
He can also be implemented into Smash simply by changing his color scheme, which makes him not an alt costume.
Mind you I have a feeling Dark Pit will be a costume with unique voices etc because Sakurai loves his own creations, so watch as my arguments crumble to dust because Sakurai wants more of his hazubandos and waifus in Smash.
I can get behind for having more waifus in Smash.

Pikachu.
Pikachu.
But Pikachu's alt skins are still Pikachu, not a different character
pikachu could totally use a female costume
just curve its tail and maybe give it a ribbon. tah dah.
i don't remember if jiggs, lucario, charizard or greninja had gender specific differences in diamond/pearl onwards though

Honestly despite my 4 hour wait I had tons of fun. The people in line are all Smash fans and super cool people and the game was very much worth the (enjoyable) wait. If you're worried about the wait being too long, get there early.

Thats not the point I quoted, now is it?
Thats not the point I quoted, now is it?
Kinda had to guess on your intentions since a single word doesn't exactly help.
Guess I guessed wrong
The fact Pit still has Dark Pit (who is a different character in the first game he was GIVEN character) as one of his alt costumes, I don't think it's as simple as "no costumes that are different characters"
I'm thinking more alt costumes that are different characters, not regular costumes.
For example, Wii Fit Trainer and Male Wii Fit Trainer are alt costumes, whereas Pit and Dark Pit are regular costumes.
I'm not even sure you can call Dark Pit a costume. It's just a recoloring that makes him Dark Pit, in the same way that Dark Link is not a costume of Link, but a recolor.
But Wireframe Mac just looks like they put a wireframe texture over the regular model. That's still a retexture.
