man, I don't think anyone would believe you if you went back in time a few years back and said: "Hey the next smash is gonna have megaman, pac-man, and Miis as playable characters." It's just crazy how Smash 4 has the 4 biggest names in gaming now.
Don't skip any Megaman games, play them all in order of release. [editline]13th June 2014[/editline] Also, as if Capcom didn't do this enough already, The Protomen give Megaman a bad image.
i wouldn't call it a bad image. its a pretty cool concept, but its definitely different to the tone of the games
Well, that was fun. Went to Best Buy, waited in line for three-and-a-half hours, StreetPassed a whole bunch of people, got to try out Smash Run while in line, talked movesets with a couple of guys for a while, picked Little Mac in the Wii U version, got my ass kicked by said guys and tied for third with my sister. But I got a whole bunch of stickers and pre-orders for both versions, so now I'll be getting a trophy stand coin each time I pick those up! And now I'm typing on a demo Surface, waiting to be picked up. And they were out of Smash pins and stickers, which makes me very sad. And now I'm starving. All in all, ten bucks and four hours well-spent.
Seems like a missed oppurtunity to not give the mii brawler a ripped at the shoulders karate gi costume. Then you could make like 1/12th of the street fighter cast. Or Paul Phoenix.
Went to Best Buy today! Took 2.5 hours to get to the actual game, but thankfully there were some other nerds I could talk to. My Smash Run was cut short because an employee wanted to move it to another part of the line :/ Once I got up there I played as Bowser, who was a BEAST. He's a lot faster, easier to control, and his downb helps get you back to the battle real quick. Used his green skin, which literally meant his normally lightbrown skin got changed to the green on his face. Got second place, which was sweet! Got a Smash pin, and I would have gotten a sticker had the lady passing them out not passed by me. Time well spent!
I just got back from Smashfest as well, tried out the game on both platforms and they were both super fun and they both looked great. Only pre-ordered the 3DS version though because I don't have a Wii U yet, but I'll def. pick it up when I do get one. Shame that the stickers are too big to fit on my 3DS, but I'm sure I'll find a use for them.
I too went to Best Buy today, my brother and I were 66th and 67th in line out of more than 230 people. Can't really say anything about smash run because they had them set up outside so I could barely see what was going due to glare. As for the Wii U version, I played Samus and from what I can tell she is about half way in between Melee and Brawl. I can't say exactly how different from brawl she played since they were using pro controllers and I couldn't get used to the buttons enough to pull off some regular moves. Her moves at least felt more powerful than Brawl's though. My brother said that Marth played between Melee and Brawl too. Most odd part was that I tried dash dancing right at the start to see how it handled and couldn't get the rhythm down to make it work so dashing may have changed a little. Also someone playing Megaman got a final smash off and everyone cheered as expected. They gave out SSB pins, stickers, and a Mario Kart 8 racing flag after the game. Not a bad time in all, lots of street passes and conversations.

I really wish the nearest Best Buy wasn't very far away.
Has the Chunky Kong assist trophy been disconfirmed yet?
Played Smash 4 at bestbuy, Little Mac feels SUPER heavy, and very satisfying. From what it felt like, it's definitely a slower smash, but with a way more satisfying bite to it. The hits feel SO good.
So ZeRo (scarftits) posted a preliminary tier list on Smash Boards, despite only having access to the game for about a week. It just seems so unnecessary to create an entire tier list based on one persons opinion for a game only select people have played. He's also credited as "one of the best players on the planet". Little Mac looks like a lot of fun, honestly. I really like the idea of a character being really strong on the ground but weak in the air. Plus, I always use a ton of aerial attacks, so I really wanna try him out.

Just returned from Smashfest as well here. Played four times, Greninja the first, blew dick. His Aqua Shuriken is so powerful when used correctly, I carried two people offscreen with it on Boxing Ring and KO'd with a side smash. Fun character, but I suck horribly with him. The Wii U controllers being used threw me WAY off, because I kept hitting B like it was A and vice versa, much like the buttons were inverted. Then, the rest of my matches went towards Little Mac. Oh man. I started having a blast. He was wonderful ground abilities, combos feel so smooth on ground and despite having arguably the shittiest aerials in the game, they can still be effective if used correctly. His recovery is awful, but it's nothing short of what you'd expect for someone so ground-based. Landing Right/Left-Smashes feels uber satisfying, and if you manage to nail someone with the KO uppercut, you're literally going to send them flying off-screen, if not KO them, at anywhere over 25%. Other than that, I think yelled "BANNED" about 80 times while I was there. So fun to yell. It was a wonderful experience. I hope to host a party using my garage as a hub for everyone to play. I'd absolutely love that. I really need to find other people that play SSB in Michigan. Going to even more of these events would be a total blast.
So I just got back from playing the new smash. I picked Little Mac for the first match and dominated my way into first place. Second match I picked a character I'm already well versed in, Sonic, and tied for second with a score of 2. The game feels, looks, and plays amazingly. A little disorientating to play at first since the excitement of playing the new smash gets to you and playing a new character. Not only that but the WiiU pro controllers feel super unnatural due to the right stick and button placement. I found myself dead twice because I either hit the wrong button trying to do a recovery or because I accidentally reached for the right stick to jump. Right before I got to play the group before me had the game crash on the second match with 13 seconds left. They let them play another round which was cool. Turns out that was only the third crash the entire event including from Wednesday. Can't wait for the game to come out. EDIT: Oh and Sonic has some pretty sweet alt colors now.
by the way pretty much all of the 16 Smash Invitational players are saying Little Mac is low tier

My brother and I try to host one big one every year with our friends that last for hours. We do mostly four player 4 stock in melee with looser out. We also go no items but that's just how we play. We try to fit one bracketed tournament during it. Sometimes we'll just break into gimmick matches like Captain Falcon only. The whole time we turn just the sound effects on and play music over the stereo; people can swap in their music if they want to. Having the entire room cheering with what is happening in an intense 1v1 is the best.
Speaking of the invitational people, Nintendo really treated them well- gave them gift cards, fed them, escorted them, and housed them. Pretty nice of them to do, Nintendo!
by the way pretty much all of the 16 Smash Invitational players are saying Little Mac is low tier
He's going to be low tier on every map that isn't walkoff. And walkoff is going to be banned.
Pacman actually looks extremely fun to play as.

He seems like one of the nicest dudes in the community. Glad to see we dont treat people with respect in this thread. He also has to be one of the best players on the planet, he was invited for a reason and is going to be at melee MLG in a couple days. Im not defending his play or anything, but he played to win and its not like it was his fault. The game allowed for it and hbox didnt punish him like he should have. Im a huge hbox fan so if anyone would be buttmad its me, but zero doesnt deserve the hate he is garnering. Btw the tier list is just his opinion, people want to know what the pros think. Its not like it was stated as fact.
by the way pretty much all of the 16 Smash Invitational players are saying Little Mac is low tier
I´m not surprised, from what it seems Mac is a heavy weight that relies on fighting on the ground. There are tons of characters that can fight really well in the air such as Marth and Jigglypuff, so it´s not too hard to find Mac´s weakness there. [editline]15th June 2014[/editline] Little Mac isn´t too versatile, which is something the competitive scene wants in a character.

He showed he was clearly capable of standing his ground and fighting in the final match up until it became better to run away.
I'm surprised Kirby is so high tier though.
I'm surprised Kirby is so high tier though.
He has really good ground and air presence, good recovery capability, good knockout moves, etc. Kirby use to be top tier in the original Smash Bros, and I honestly believe he´ll be back in SSB4.
It's his damn star suplex that always gets me.
