The problem wasn't his play style, the problem was that the tournament's rules allowed for him to win with the tactics he used. He showed he was clearly capable of standing his ground and fighting in the final match up until it became better to run away.
I really hope that Nintendo considers listening to the community for rules if they make another tournament next year. Such as no items and only 1v1s. If it were like that this year, the King of Smash would have most likely been closer to the finals then the randomness that happened.
Such as no items and only 1v1s.
But items and free for alls are fun. Maybe just turning off the more powerful items.

But I think if they do make another next year, they need to go for something less random and more skill based, since the game would be released for both systems by that time.
But items and free for alls are fun. Maybe just turning off the more powerful items.
Personally, the item rules my friends and I use are Low frequency with the following enabled: Green Shell Homerun Bat Beam Sword Ray Gun Pitfall Bumper Star Rod All of the above have consistent, readable mechanics, useful in combos and setup while still being avoidable with sufficient skill. There is nothing random about how they work, and as a result they are (in my opinion) the fairest itemset.
The only settings for fun are Max items, all items, free for all everything else is whatever Or maybe only pokeballs, that works too
Come on guys, max items with warp stars is the way to go :P No but seriously, play whatever style you wanna play. No one's gonna judge you for it, anyway.
No, a lot of people will absolutely judge the shit out of you. The key is that their opinion on how you have fun is void.
No, a lot of people will absolutely judge the shit out of you. The key is that their opinion on how you have fun is void.
Ah, true, that is what I meant to say. Thank you for the addendum, good sir!
A clash of classics
Oh man I seriously hope Pac-man has his hat for one of his costumes.
The only settings for fun are Max items, all items, free for all everything else is whatever Or maybe only pokeballs, that works too
Whilst I'm all for items, I find on max things start to turn into too much of a clusterfuck.
So lets see. Sonic: Probably from the first Animated series Megaman: From Captain N: The Game Master Mario: Probably from the Super Mario Super Show Pac-Man: From the 80s animated series. Which I didn't know existed until I just looked for it.
Oh man I seriously hope Pac-man has his hat for one of his costumes.
Considering they said he was based on his Pac-land appearance? That could be likely. A Ms. Pacman would probably work too.
Playing brawl, and of course now stupid shit happens to me, as usual

They would sometimes air it back when they were like boomerang and showed old cartoons.
Funny enough, the first I EVER saw of Sonic was that stupid early 90s TV show where all those youtube memes came from. It would be another seven months before I'd learn he was a video game character.
My personal favorite way to play SSBM is max items, just Pokeballs, only Pokemon characters, at Pokemon Stadium. Leads to a lot of fun.
My personal favorite way to play SSBM is max items, just Pokeballs, only Pokemon characters, at Pokemon Stadium. Leads to a lot of fun.
I do that with Stamina mode. Its like a Uber Pokemon battle.
Wow fuck I'm playing pokemon only against CPU with only pokeballs and in stamina mode, and I get mew from a pokeball. ok thanks game
Bleh. I understand why Sakurai had to delay the 3DS version, but with all the Best Buy footage it's hard not to get desperate. I just really, really hope they male a stable and bareboned 3DS demo within the next 3 months.
Didn't Sakurai said that the E3/ Best Buy demo was an early version of the game or something ?

They are all fun to watch in their own ways and I don't think any of the competitors thought of it on the same level as the normal comp games. It's just something different and not super serious like regular comp games.
Is Toon Link's final smash the same as Link's? Because it should be that super spin attack from Wind Waker.
Is Toon Link's final smash the same as Link's? Because it should be that super spin attack from Wind Waker.
I haven't seen any footage but people are reporting it's still the same.
shame how many final smashes havent gotten significant updates, from the looks of it it'd be nice if they were just placeholders for now
Bowser is soooo fast in Sm4sh. Just look at this guy go at 2:02 . Also his fire actually looks useful, you can catch that at about 1:12
My personal favorite way to play SSBM is max items, just Pokeballs, only Pokemon characters, at Pokemon Stadium. Can't believe DK still has the same final smash. So fucking useless.
I should have never gone to Smash Fest....I'm suffering through fucking withdrawal... *rocks back and forth in the fetal position* 4 more months...4 more months...4 more months...
Went to Smash Fest earlier, cousin got me in because he has a buddy that works at best buy played 3 matches. Won 1st in my first and third match as Mac and Bowser, and got 3rd in my second as Mega Man. Gotta say it's really awesome and fun to play.
