The stage is Pac Man's home console stage, by the way, based on the platformer "Pac-Land". The fairy is an actual part of the game; at the halfway point of each level, you meet up with the fairy and then go back, sort of like a crappy Wario Land 4.
There. The more you know.
edit: also, the graphics are directly from the game i believe, which is why it's not a particularly good looking stage
I still think the maze stage should've been used for both the 3DS and Wii U versions. At least Pac-Land is kind of unique in that it'll probably start scrolling in the opposite direction when someone reaches the fairy.
Yeah, the Maze is way too iconic to ignore. Pac-Land is pretty obscure; most people know Pac Man from the arcade game, or even stuff like his World series of platformers.
I'm worried the Wii U version will miss out on all the good stages. Why the fuck is Gerudo Valley 3DS exclusive? Ocarina of Time is literally one of the most significant home console games ever and they're trying to pass it off as a handheld game. Ridiculous.
Now Wii U gets Pac-Land instead of what looks like a really cool stage? I don't understand why they decided Pac-Land was so significant, it's not even very good and I'd literally never heard anyone speak of it fondly before the reveal. It would've been much better if they'd based him on the Pac-Man World games, they were actually good and it makes sense to tie them to a home console.

No shit, I just think that's stupid. It's Ocarina of Time, they wouldn't make a Super Mario Bros stage exclusive to the 3DS version because of NES Classics SMB1, they shouldn't do it for OoT.
Wow, how're you getting mad over one stage
if you're not eventually getting both versions of the game you're doing it wrong
to be honest i agree
there's tons of portable zelda games that would be ripe for a stage. link's awakening, minish cap, the oracle games and they go for the remake of a console game.
if you're not eventually getting both versions of the game you're doing it wrong
A lot of people can´t afford both though.

OoT was fully remade for 3DS and was a major release for it
NES Classics SMB1 was just a virtual console thing and was a small release
Not that this really matters that much.. it's just one stage dude.
Speaking of stages, I wonder which stage they will have to represent F-Zero this time around.

I´d love this to be the new F-Zero stage, personally.

Why not just bring back old Big Blue, then?
Why not just bring back old Big Blue, then?
Cause F-Zero GX is the most recent, plus it would be a new stage.

To be fair, the only thing Nintendo has shown us they can do with F-Zero stages is a fast moving stage with cars as obstacles.

I don´t know, I´m a huge F-Zero fan and to me Ordeal is one of the best tracks the entire franchise has had.
All they really had to do is either make Ordeal work like Aero Dive or bring Aero Dive back.

Balloon Fight.

There are still some stages I would prefer to see up on my TV in HD, like Lumiose City and Tortimer Island.
Maybe they'll release DLC in the future where the Wii U gets the 3DS stages and the 3DS gets the Wii U stages. If people own both versions, they get the DLC for free/a big discount.

If you're kidding, ha ha, but if you're not, there's no way I'm getting both a 3DS and a WiiU.

I feel like if they were to do that, they'd probably pick 6 of the fan favorites from each version, at most. And they could use Club Nintendo to distribute the free/discount coupons by registering both versions.
The only problem is online play if you have to pay for the stages. Would the stages be unable to be chosen if you play online, or would they release a free content patch that lets you play the stages online?
The former would cause problems in the community, while the latter would remove incentive to purchase a stage-pack if you know you could play it online with a friend who has it.

I´d imagine you would either not be allowed to choose those stages, or those stages would become free for the other players as long as there is 1 player owning them.
Am I the only one a bit concerned about the 3DS version?
Everyone I've talked to that's played it says the controls are godawful and that worries me :(

i played it at best buy and it seemed to control fine

I've heard the exact opposite.
If anything I'm more worried about its net code
Playing brawl with oversea players was awful
Yet MK8 seems to work flawlessly so there may be hope this time

they're probably just really really used to the gamecube controls. i'm sure it'll be fine especially if it's circle pad pro compatible.

mario kart 8's netplay is asynchronous, which really wouldn't work in smash bros since you'd get a lot of "i clearly hit you but you didn't take any damage"
so the only decent solution (that i know of) is have a good connection with little latency
I've heard the exact opposite.
Maximillian and the Gamexplain guys all said that they were pretty terrible and didn't feel good at all.
Haven't heard anyone saying they're good honestly, and I hear a constant complaint that "I can't see shit" on it as well.
Still got it preordered and whatnot, just a little concerned is all.
Balloon Fight.
Yeah that's dumb as fuck too
To everyone being like "chill it's just a game" yeah I'm aware, is this not the thread in which to discuss that game? Everything I say is within the context of that game and discussion of it, i'm not trying to act like this is of real-world significance and this thread is not about the real world.
I need to know Sakurai's opinion on the situation in Iraq.

How are Mario Kart 7's and Luigi's Mansion 2's online? It's been forever since I've played them. And I know that playing MK7 and LM2 online is different than playing SSB online, but it could serve as some sort of benchmark.
