That actually made me happy to hear.
I'm interested in seeing Download Play and how restricted that will be, because you can't just go "ok you can only play as mario" in a game like Super Smash Bros.

If Download Play is even still a thing with the increased asset filesizes.
I wonder if they'll even consider it, I mean they KNOW that everyone and their mothers are going to buy this game "so why even bother"

From what I understand when I asked the Nintendo reps at Smashfest, it seems that everyone will need a copy unless that only held true for that demo copy they had running.
If there's Download Play (which I honestly can't see, Smash is a BIG game), I can only assume you'll only be able to choose from the characters included in the demo.
I hope we get Spooky (From Pac World 2) as an AT:

Anyone else agree?

Pic of the day. Here's Nabbit, who appears in the Mushroom Kingdom U stage. You can't see him, but Luigi is inside Nabbit's bag.

wait, the 3ds version is coming out before the wiiu version?
that sounds like a mistake. i was planning on getting both versions but I want my first experience with it to be the kind of full and grand one i'd get from playing on wiiu on the big screen.

Then you better wait 'till the Wii U version then :v:
Seeing how far along it is, I suspect that the Wii U version will hit shelves late November to catch the holiday crowd.
I had an idea for a Wii exclusive mode.
5 player boss fights. Person on Gamepad plays as the boss (with more advanced movement mechanics than the bosses in previous games), other 4 people fight together to defeat the boss. Best part is? This means that Ridley is actually playable.
The back of the box: "Play an all new exclusive mode where one player controls massive bosses like the Yellow Devil and Ridely!"
Actual game: The only two stage bosses are the Yellow Devil and Ridley.

But Nabbit was confirmed today!
I think this one pic sums it up best:

Why do I get the feeling this can actually be a legit feature in the game.

Just a heads up, if you guys liked the Gamecube controller with the Smash Bros logo shown in the adaptor reveal video, you can pre-order it now on Amazon.

Any idea if this is the controller coming with the $99 bundle with the game, controller, and adapter?

Not much info revealed yet, might be a good idea to wait a little before actually ordering since it´s going to be a long time till it´s December 31st.
Do you guys recommend the Gamecube controller for the new Smash?
I have never played Brawl with a Gamecube controller and heck, I never even played a Gamecube game in my life.

If you want to experience Smash Bros the way everyone else did in the Gamecube era, then you should totally go for it. You won´t be disappointed, I guarantee you that.
I know a lot of people might disagree with me, but the Gamecube controller is one of the best controllers ever made, and I still love to play with it and my old Gamecube every now and then.
I really don´t know how to explain, but it almost feels like it was made for Smash Bros imo.

There's a lot of stuff that's easier/less awkward to do with a Gamecube controller.
The Pro Controller is fine too but the c-stick being above the face buttons is still a handicap.
The Gamecube controller is seriously the best controller ever.
I actually just took mine apart and cleaned it after ~12 years of use, and that was pretty disgusting. All those years of sweaty hands and Cheeto dust.
$30 for a Gamecube controller.
What.
$30 for a Gamecube controller.

It´s cheap considering the fact it probably will be limited time only until Nintendo stops making them again.
Unpopular opinion, but I always enjoyed using the wiimote and nunchuck. Just being able to move my hands freely and not have them so cramped together felt better to me.
My og gamecube controller finds it hard to distinguish what direction I move the stick...

Try resale stores; I found a silver and purple Gamecube controller for less than $5.
Edit: Well, I guess if you wanted the smash logo you could spray one onto a controller. Although with the way I did it, red didn't look too good with purple.
Going by hearsay, the new GC controller isn't just a rehash; it's apparently got a better Z button, more responsive D-pad, and other minor tweaks to things like trigger resistance.
It also seems to use slightly firmer and higher quality rubber on the stick tops, so they won't start to crumble at the edges after a couple years.
