In all seriousness I'll probably give the large brawler a try. I've always found heavy hand-to-hand characters very satisfying to play in other fighting games, and reduction in mobility wouldn't matter too much to me in a tradeoff.
Mobility is a massive deal in Super Smash Brothers though.
Can't argue with them being fun though.
And I'd argue something with the same power that can run around 50% faster (my best guess) will be good at exactly what the Brawler Claws are in Uprising; chipping away at foes who can't catch you and eventually swooping in for a child's-play easy finishing blow.
That doesn't seem like it'd be fun to fight at all in a game like Smash. Unless you're on a tiny stage or you're using a projectile character, you'll be spending half the match just trying to mirror the chip they're landing on you.

There's always the chance I'm reading too far into this, but seriously. God damn I will be angry if I'm right. I know people who would totally be that guy if the game gave them that option, just to annoy everyone else.
But from some reports, Donkey Kong is one of the best characters in the game at the moment. That kind of goes against what you're predicting here.
If Wolf gets cut and the chorus men get in I'll personally cut Sakurai
oh no we lose a 3rd star fox character and get an actually unique one from a series that hasn't been irrelevant for nearly a decade!!!!

There's a new Starfox coming to Wii U soon-ish, making it far more relevant than other unfortunate series like F-Zero or Mother.
I really want Sakurai to reveal a new character (like a BIG one, like Snake) through a blurry cell phone picture of a monitor.
I honestly would be more happy if Simon Belmont took Snake´s place as a Konami rep.
And I mean Super Castlevania 4 Simon, not the new whatever Castlevania.

Different weight classes could also have special properties unique to that class.
Such as heavyweight Mii Fighters getting armor or superarmor on their attacks to help drive that power-point home. Or perhaps featherweight Mii Fighters have incredibly weak shields.
It's all a delicate balancing game. Getting feedback from players will be the biggest boon for this Smash release since it means we may very well see rebalance patches pushed out if things turn out poorly for any of the characters.

It's not like Mother ended because of poor sales, Itoi wanted the series to be over. It's just as relevant as ever.

One of the best things they could do would be to take inspiration from the moveset changes made in Project M. They already appear to have done so with the changes to Donkey Kong and Yoshi, I'd love to see similar treatment given to Ness, where double jump-cancelling was reintroduced, PK Fire activates on shield, PSI Magnet has a hitbox, PK Flash is much faster and his Dair comes out immediately. Made him a much more viable character while entrenching him in his already existing playstyle by making him better at it.
I actually meant to post this in this thread but accidentally did it in the Wii U thread.

Hopefully this is a sign that Rob will return in Smash.
I love Simon, he'd be amazing to play as and has more Nintendo history than Snake...
But...
Snake is just so fucking fun to play as.
Like, I'll play with my friends.
We'll often end up on New Pork City, because it's so terrible that it becomes amazing when you've got 4 characters and maxed items.
I'll just run around dropping fully charged C4 everywhere, shit gets nuts.

I´d totally want to see Snake back just because of his moveset.
His moveset was really unique and pretty damn cool (despite the fact he only uses grenades for some reason).
I just personally think Simon would fit in better, and they wouldn´t even need to do much to his moveset.
Edited:
Well to be fair they both kinda don´t fit in artstyle wise, but at least Simon has a big history with the old Nintendo consoles, much like Megaman.
I feel a lot of people over looked yesterdays POTD. Nabbit proves that not everything we've seen in the demos are set in stone, as Mushroom Kingdom U was one of the playable stages at Best Buy and the Invitational and yet Nabbit didn't appear in either. Hopefully this leaves room for them to change Shieks final smash and some other things as well.
Also Iwata was re-elected as Nintendo President so that's kind of neat.
My brother liked Rob a lot. Too bad it didn't stand up to the might of ike.

Who can?
They should throw in the Ancient Minister as an alt costume for ROB

why do people even think for a second that rob is getting cut? there's literally no evidence or precedent for that sort of thing. like, is it just wishful thinking on some people's part because if he's gone they can add goku or something, come on

why do people even think for a second that rob is staying in? there's literally no evidence or precedent for that sort of thing.
But also no seriously he was a character based around the Subspace Emissary storyline (I'm aware of his real-life stuffs, I mean in the game)
but no need to get mad at people when the opposite of your statement holds true.

because a bunch of the brawl characters people expected to be cut are still in, and signs are pointing towards very few cuts?

Having a prominent role in the SSE doesn't make you an SSE character, not to mention there's a bunch of SSE enemies in Smash Run.
but no need to get mad at people when the opposite of your statement holds true.
I wasn't mad, I was confused that people were assuming characters to be cut and wanted to know what they were basing their estimations on.
i'd be okay if r.o.b. gets cut, then we have the space for another goku

Well, he is a character with his own move set, which gives him an advantage.
Also, on a personal note, I want a Gyromite stage.

Too bad we're probably not getting any gamepad functionality for stuff like bosses/stage hazards. It'd be neat if one player could fulfill the role of ROB from the game and decide which platforms go up and down.
So I got this beautiful creature:

And this pc adapter:

And oh my god does it feel good to play project m on dolphin in glorious 1080p with AA and scaled EFB with this thing.
Imagine ROB playing Smash Bros.

People thought Mr. Game & Watch would be cut in Brawl, I wouldn't be surprised if the same thing happens to ROB.
I actually meant to post this in this thread but accidentally did it in the Wii U thread.
Imagine if they released Rob for the Wii U. He'd have a dual-use. He'd be used to play Virtual Console versions of Gyromite and Stack-Up and he'd do something cool in other games, sort of like them Amiibos.
Imagine.
I think people are a lot more weary of useless peripherals for Nintendo consoles nowadays, though. Then again ROB would at least have novelty value unlike stuff like the Wii Zapper.
I'd kill for an action figure sized functioning ROB that could be hooked into the gamepad. :v:

Careful, I hear the triggers on the white controllers are a little sticky sometimes. Althought that shouldn't be too much of a problem unless you're playing Melee and wavedashing or something.

I'll buy it and have ROB holding himself on my shelf
