I'd actually really love to see a TF2 character in smash, if they could make it work that is.
If Valve were to ever get a character in the game (which they won't but we can dream), I'd much rather see someone like Scout or Engineer than Gordon Freeman.

I don't see it happening. Valve games and characters are significantly more iconic to PC than to consoles.

I wouldn't mind seeing Pac-Man in Smash. When I was little, I thought those two empty spots on Melee's character select screen meant that I had two characters left to unlock. For whatever reason, I thought those two characters were Mega Man and Pac-Man. My childhood fantasy is on the verge of being fulfilled!
As for Pac-Man being "forced," I don't think that's the case. Some important fellow at Namco (I believe it was the creator or director of Tekken) said that they wouldn't try to push Sakurai into including a Namco character in SSB4. So if Pac-Man gets in, it's all because Sakurai deemed him worthy of being in the game.

Maybe they haven't revealed Diddy yet because they're teaming him up with Dixie.

And his NES appearance fits in with the likes of Mario, Kirby and Pikachu better. Though X would fit better with Link, Samus and Snake. Still, I prefer classic to X even though I like the X games better.
Also on that note, what do you think Megaman's alternate colours will be? Some are thinking it'll be things like a Protoman recolor and others like that but I'm really hoping it's just the colors he gets from the different bosses.

I don't mind Pac-Man being in, I'm happy Little Mac is being a character, but I really don't want Miis being in. It feels like Nintendo is forcing them onto us, but maybe that's just me.

There were some character game files in Brawl that looked like they were suppose to be a pair character. People rumored it was suppose to be Plusle and Minun. It would be cool to have those two fighting, but we have to many Pokemon characters as it is. Speaking of Pokemon Characters, it would be cool to have Pokemon trainer come back but with more Starters as costumes.

I'm pretty sure my love of Puzzle Bobble and Pac Man stems from vacation memories too. Something about finding arcade machines on vacation that's just really special.

I'd take Klonoa over Pac-Man any day.
At least he was in some Nintendo exclusives, rather than "is a famous video game character".
By that logic, they could put Sora or Spyro in Smash, because they're notable characters who have appeared on a Nintendo console at some point.

I remember being bored once, so I made a list of characters I think could be cool in the next Smash Bros.
A few of those included Simon Belmont, Fawful, Paper Mario, Tetra/Toon Zelda, Blue (Bulbasaur, Charmeleon, Blastoise), Green (Charmander, Wartortle, Venusaur), King K. Rool, Banjo and Kazooie, and Chrono.
I also included a few just because I liked 'em, like Frog and Funky Kong.
Fawful would be an amazing assist trophy.
