Multiple alt costumes for a single character? That opens up a lot of new possibilities. At the very least, I'd be disappointed if there's no Doctor Mario this time.

i'm happy to see more alts for each character i knew they where onto something with warios alts on brawl and with all this talk about heaps of alts i hope this means shiny charizard seeing as we got shiny greninja

Or, you know, he just doesn't tear it off when using it.

I'm conflicted about the alt costumes. We got gender costumes for Villager and WFT, which are different models, but we got a reskin for Link's alt. Mac has reskin for Wireframe Mac and now the sweater one. Why the hell did they not remove Link's hat when Mac gets an entire new model? Starting to think the newcomers are getting much more attention then the veterans.

I know Link is recognizable for his hat and tunic but I would have loved to see it has another model. What could be done is give him a Zora Armor and Magic Armor costumes from Twilight Princess. Which would be simple, if it's what the devs are going for, by adding said armor pieces on Link. Maybe tweak it for the Zora one. Same goes for Mario if a Dr. Mario costumes comes in. There isn't much to modify, aside a new taunt if he retains the hat flip.

We don't know if Link is getting proper alt costumes or not yet, quit getting your knickers in a twist. We didn't know that Mac was getting the track suit alt costume until tonight's pic either. Link's Skyward Sword thing is just a recolor, like Dark Pit in Brawl or Blood Falcon, it doesn't mean he can't get alt costumes like Overalls Wario or Wireframe Mac.
