only took you 12 years
These photos may not have been the best idea.
They gave a little but if fun info out but as soon as they reveal big stuff, people expect it to happen every time, and if it doesnt, then fuck them
It's the same thing that happened with the Dojo. For every newcomer or veteran reveal there's a "YOU MUST RECOVER!" type update, and people can't stand not being at a constant high of new information.
I wonder how people would feel towards Smash4 if they kept the pics of the day an internal thing for the development team that it originally was (according to the early pics of the day at least).

Probably a lot less excited.
But who knows? Personally I've enjoyed the pic of the day dynamic, even when they did not provide a whole lot of new information, so I would be very disappointed to be without it just because some people are acting spoilt.

After spending over 5000 hours in brawl playing marth
this is literally marth's moveset copy pasted into ganon
lol
I wonder what would happen if Nintendo added a "Speed Slider" for Smash4. You could slide to a couple presets for how fast you want the game.
Do you think it would appease the Melee fans and tourneymates?
It's not just speed people want, they want stuff like combo potential etc. If they just put in a bunch of sliders for Special Brawl 2.0 though that could work. So you can turn up hitstun, the general speed and weight of the game etc.

I always thought Brawl had just fine combo potential. It's just that the slowed down nature of the game gave more reaction time for the defensive player.

I don't see how it could be his forearms.
Skin color, looks like it has muscle definition.
America confirmed for Smash
America confirmed for Smash
Fun fact: there are people who think Ness will be revealed tonight because "America Day = Eagleland is based on America". Just like how Earth Day and Mother's Day also revealed Ness.
America confirmed for Smash
Indeed

I always misread Eagleland as England.
and Nowhere Islands as Nohara Islands.
Earthbound Zero had funny names so it's pretty hard to misread or forget them.
Podunk, Youngstown, Spokane, Mt. Itoi.
The main problem with Brawl is hitstun cancelling
The hitstun is exactly the same as Melee, it's just that you can airdodge out of it.

The original names were Mother's Day (Podunk), Thanksgiving (Merrysville), Easter (Youngtown), Halloween (Spookane), Valentine (Ellay) and Mt. Holy Loly. Reindeer and Snowman stayed the same.
It's interesting though, because Mother 1 is specifically stated to take place in America, but Mother 2 a fictional place called "Eagleland", and in addition there's no America on the world map.
Pic of the day. Pac-Maze is a stage exclusive to the 3DS version, created in the Pac-Man motif. If you eat 100 Pac-Dots, Power Pellets will appear in your color.

If you eat a Power Pellet, the monsters will become vulnerable and you can defeat them just by touching them. Too bad this stage is only on the 3DS version, I like it a lot more than Pac-Land.
Why does Pac-Man have a red outline? Is it a player number thing?
Why does Pac-Man have a red outline? Is it a player number thing?
That looks like the team indicator, which is strange because Kirby doesn't have a colored outline
It's to indicate that he can eat ghosts. He's P1, so he gets a red outline. "Power pellets appear in your color."
sooo... do the ghosts hurt you if you touch them normally?
I mean, it doesn't really need explanation obviously, but that's two stages with 'collect 100 for a power-up' on the 3DS version so far with no equivalents on the Wii U version we know of. And one could also lump them in with the Balloon Fight stage loosely due to horizontal wraparound. There's certainly going to be a lot more gameplay-affecting gimmickry this go around, rather than just stage-affecting gimmicks and hazards.
maybe they're putting a lot of the super gimmicky stages into the 3ds version because a (possibly) more hardcore audience will be playing the wiiu version?
I think the gimmicky stages like Golden Fields and Pac-Maze are on the 3DS version because it makes things easier. If Pac-Maze were on Wii U, it could be difficult to tell who exactly the ghosts are vulnerable to, and it'd be even more confusing when there's multiple players with the power pellet, but since, on 3DS, everyone's looking separate screens, they can appear vulnerable only to the players they are vulnerable to. With Golden Fields, it's not as much of a problem, as you could easily just put the coin counters above the damage percentages, though then everyone's coin counters would be visible to everyone. Additionally, NSMB2 was a 3DS game, so it makes more sense for that stage to be on 3DS anyway, if a console game-based could have a similar gimmick, I don't see why it being in the Wii U version would stop it from having that gimmick.
