I agree with Wolf being pointless, just another Fox clone, but I have to disagree with Toon Link. I found him better then normal link.
You think Wolf is a clone but don't think Toon Link is? Being better than what it's a clone of doesn't make it a good clone.
Wolf is actually really different, all of his A moves are entirely different, and his B moves are heavily modified/adjusted versions of Fox's. That's more than what you can say about Ganondorf, Toon Link.. hell, even Falco.
Well if we are talking about some of the clones getting scrapped, then I guess there is no chance of getting a Toon Zelda. :v:
If they remove Lucario, which is a possibility, Mewtwo has room to come back. But also with Mewtwo and his new form, he could have an entirely different moveset for all we know.
I'm gonna miss Toon Link. He was what I always wanted in Link: To be fast.
His down air is fucking decimating and accurate as hell.
Hopefully they do bring Majora's Mask Link

WARNING UNPOPULAR OPINION:
[sp]I think Falco should get cut too.[/sp]

If Lucario goes and Mewtwo takes his place, then there's no problem
Other than their 4 specials and final smash, Ness and Lucas play entirely different from one another. And even with those 4 specials, they function differently from the other character.
PSI Freeze and PSI Flash are completely different for obvious reasons. PSI Fire on both characters travels differently and behaves differently on-hit. PSI Thunder penetrates through players as Lucas. PSI Magnet is held in front of Lucas, making his backside exposed; he can also use it to shock an enemy that's caught inside it, whereas Ness will only push people away when he stops using PSI Magnet.
However, due to the lack of any localization for Mother 3 outside of Japan or fan projects, I can realistically see Lucas getting the axe, and I find that a bit frustrating because I liked both his style and Ness's style of play.

Toon Link is still a clone yes, but he was a lot faster compared to normal Link and some of his moves hit more then once. I just like playing him more then normal link that's all. The same with Lucas, he may be a clone but I prefer to play as him because his slight adjusted moves make him a better character in my eyes. It all falls down to opinion.
The clones should just be alternate player choices from the main character like the colors. So they don't take up player slots but you can still play as them.
"I would consider the changes that we're making this time around not as fixes, but that we're changing the direction," he said through a translator. "And so the vision for the overall balance of the game in Smash Bros Melee, it was sort of more focused towards more hardcore players. Then when it came around to making Brawl, this was a game that was targeting a Wii audience where there were a lot of beginner players, so it sort of leaned a little bit more in that direction.
"So now, for this time around, we're sort of aiming for something that is in between those as far as the speed of the game. Because I don't really think this time we're in a situation where we're trying to accommodate that many new players."
Delicious.

Gameplay that's a blending of Brawl and Melee would be absolutely perfect It's news like this that game me hyped
This wouldn't be a problem if SSB4's roster wasn't so potentially limited. There's nothing wrong with clones, as long as the characters themselves are actually similar and belong to the same universe. That way it actually makes sense they fight similarly. Ganondorf being a clone of Captain Falcon is dumb. Completely different universes, one drives a fast car and the other has a sword that he ignores the existence of. Falco being a clone of Fox is tolerable. They both come from Lylat, where they both learn their ability to fight from, most likely, the same sources. Heck, it's possible Fox learned how to fight from Falco or something similar along those lines. In that sense, being clones makes logical sense.
This way, you can choose between the clones as to which specifically suits your style of play more. A lot of people love to play Falco because he has a nice combination of both speed and power, while Fox is more about speed.
I just wanna know what quarter it's being released in. Q4 would be torture for me ;_;

I kinda liked how the clones from Melee got Luigified.
Lucas and Ness are about as different as comparing Mario and Luigi. Same goes for Wolf and Fox.
I'm just fearful that the 3ds is going to limit the ability to make these Luigified characters more fleshed out, instead opting to remove them or integrate their abilities into the base character they were inspired by.
It is the Year of Luigi, let's see some characters get the Luigi Treatment.

Not meaning to be a super pessimist here but Brawl got delayed. I could see this one getting pushed back for polishing to make sure the 3DS and Wii U versions are identical

So you are saying that Toon Link and Lucas are fine because they are from the same universe?

Every slot filled by some form of Luigi. Regular Luigi, Paper Luigi, Mr. L, Luigi's Mansion Luigi...
Speaking of Luigi I fucking loved playing as him in Melee and Brawl. His karate chops and flailing sissy punches were surprisingly effective.
So you are saying that Toon Link and Lucas are fine because they are from the same universe?
Lucas is tolerable. Toon Link is a little too good, he's pretty much better than normal Link in every way.
Pac-Man has had far more Nintendo exclusives than Klonoa, so I don't see your point.
I'm just saying, I associate Klonoa much more with Nintendo than Pac-Man.
Would it be possible for them to add in characters they couldn't add in before as dlc?
Would it be possible for them to add in characters they couldn't add in before as dlc?
Didn't they say somewhere that they did not want to add DLC?
Didn't they say somewhere that they did not want to add DLC?
There's a very simple reason why: The game's not done yet.
Seriously, if anyone can make DLC and complete it before the game's even finished, they might as well just put it in the game in the first place.
DLC is best used as add-on content once a game is already out because the developers wanted to keep working on it after release day.
Don't expect any confirmation of having DLC until the game's actually finished.
