As was Ness. It helped that they both got their own parts in the opening movie to help emphasis them along the rest of the cast, compared to Luigi and Jigglypuff both being locked again like 64 (although Jiggly had a cameo in the opening I believe).
Luigi did have kind of his own cutscene in adventure mode though
Am I the only that really doesn't want any more sword dudes? When I think of Smash, I think of a variety of cool abilities and attacks, not just a large selection of sword swipes. Its why I never was a fan of the Fire Emblem charaxters in smash. At least Link avoided it by having his items as well.

Ike's sword is pretty much a club in the way it's use, Marth's swordplay has a focus on spacing and tipping, Link uses his to complement his entire arsenal, Shulk most likely will use a variety of techniques related to his sword, etc. This whole SWORDS ARE BAD 2 MANY SWORDS shit is getting really old. They're no worse then people punching each other, which makes up like 50% of the roster in any Smash game. Or 'quirky use of things not meant for fighting' a la Villager, WFT, ROB, G&W etc. (And people still want Ganondorf to use a sword because he's an exception to this stupid SWORDS ARE BAD rule.)

That's my main misgiving with the gematsu leak, Chrom seems like a really boring, stock-standard addition to the roster.
his crazy sword can extend, predict the future and some other stuff i can't remember i'm not familiar with golden sun, but shulk has potential to be interesting despite being a sword user
Shulk was from Xenoblade, not Golden Sun.
I wouldn't be surprised if Chrom got a mechanic to differentiate himself like how Rosalina and Mac have mechanics no-one else has.
Luigi did have kind of his own cutscene in adventure mode though
Yeah, for if you manage to clear the first stage with a 2 as the last digit on the timer, right? He shows up as a secret little encounter. But then there were a lot of quick scenes in Adventure mode, especially for secret or unique fights.

Might as well give everyone swords! HELL! Call the game Super Sword Bros! People complain all the time and make up shitty rules and exceptions. Just enjoy what is given to you. You might not like the ketchup? Here, have mayonnaise instead. You got so many other choices! 85% of the choices don't use blades. It's a buffet. You choose what you like. And here I'm comparing games to food again. I got to stop that...
Shulk was from Xenoblade, not Golden Sun.
i know, he was talking about golden sun as well. i was saying i have nothing to compare because i've played xenoblade but i haven't played golden sun.
...technically, Falcon was a starter in Melee.
A starter announced post release, my point still stands.

But i'd rather take Robin, or even Radiant Dawn or non-Awakening characters in general over another blue-haired swordsman that ultimately is only truly unique between the three for his characterization that we wouldn't see much of in Smash, rather than his skills.
yeah i was initially opposed to Pacman's inclusion but the way he turned out i quickly changed my mind i and can see the same happening to Chrom (tbh like most of you i would prefer robin but would just be happy with an awakening rep) oh and Shulk hypetrain go
A starter announced post release, my point still stands.
Remember E3 2001?

That's why I advocate for characters like Captain Syrup or Jeff, they would offer a type of character that simply isn't seen at all in Super Smash Bros. It's part of building a unique and diverse cast of characters, and it's undermined when Fire Emblem becomes the blue-haired swordfighters series or Mother becomes the psychic young boys in striped shirts series. It's one thing to come up with a unique playstyle for a character, and it makes sense for Rosalina because she's a character that doesn't really have much of a precedent as far as gameplay, being that her only playable appearance in a mainline Mario game was a game with a simple control scheme and movement style. Chrom has a sword, he has a specific fighting style with that sword, and he has animations in the game. He also has a defined personality. There's a point where coming up with a unique playstyle isn't even appropriate to the character.

Some variety, unique designs or appearances never hurt at all, and Smash Bros definitely would benefit from said variety.
One question I still have is how exactly they're going to do the FD Versions of the Boxing Ring and Colosseum (Correct me on those names if I'm wrong). They're both walk-off stages and I don't really see how they're actually going to make them work unless they make them look really fucking weird. I'm also really worried that Falco isn't gonna make it back in and I'm really hoping he is but it seems he was a likely candidate for being dropped from the roster.
falco doesn't really seem like a character who would get cut imo
I'm also really worried that Falco isn't gonna make it back in and I'm really hoping he is but it seems he was a likely candidate for being dropped from the roster.
He's too big a part of the Super Smash Bros identity. I'd be shocked.

Using food as a comparison, it's closer to ordering a pizza to share. You ask for what you know you like on the pizza. The next guy might ask something you didn't even know you wanted until he asked for it. But then there is the possibility one guy might ask for something that you absolutely hate - and you'll have to live with it for the rest of the meal. In a game like Smash Bros, who you are fighting against is just as important to your experience as who you're fighting as, so it really isn't as simple as just ignoring any characters that you dislike.
regardless of yesterdays mistake here is the real
I doubt the Chorus Men will be revealed on Monday. They seem like the final WTF character, probably one Nintendo would want to keep secret until after release. Kind of like G&W in Melee and R.O.B. in Brawl. Granted, a lot of people already know about the Chorus Men because of the leak, but I don't think that would cause Nintendo to reveal them early.
Shulk's the likeliest candidate for a reveal Monday- there's too much evidence that points towards it; the big piece being the Xenoblade director's retweets of the event, though some are saying that it's just a coincidence. I wouldn't be mad though, if the trailer on Monday ended up being a multi-veteran confirmation. Surprise me, Sakurai.

It's not just the fact that we'd be having three blue hair swordsmen from the same series if Chrom gets in, it's that we'd be having three blue hair swordsmen from the same series that has characters with lances, axes, bows and magic. Robin would give Awakening the perfect amount of rep with having different colored hair, the option of being both male and female, using both magic and swords as well as having shared the spotlight in the most recent (and one of the most popular) game with Chrom.

Now THERE's a unique character concept.
funny how roy gets less hate for being a clone then ike and chrom do for being blue haired swordsmen just give chrom a dyejob, and replace ike's sword ragnell with the axe urvan. there, variety.
http://www.miicharacters.com/index.php?t=meme I know what I'm going to be playing as in every game.
