Unfortunately, Giratina has already been confirmed as nothing more than a Pokeball Pokemon.
Let's get hype with an oldie but a goodie

i would bring people back to life to prevent a platinum rep, welp looks like we're at an impasse
How is Flying Fortress a grab?
I meant Flying Slam, mixed up the move names.
They're both side B moves from different games in the series. But SSB4 screenshots have shown Bowser in the animations for both moves, leaving me to believe that it'll be a command throw that he can transition into one of several move variants.
You're saying a character with moderate speed and weight that can A: Legitimately chain a grabthrow into a different grabthrow, and B: Execute a command grabthrow in midair and chain those as well with good timing... Would add NOTHING to Smash?
I'm not suggesting a grabby grounded character cut straight from another game, I'm talking a decently agile (and actually mostly aerial) grappler, with solid combo potential in each of his grabs.
[editline]t[/editline]
As for your remarks, since the command grabs are special (B) moves, they could be shielded against. Only standard grabs would get through shields, which would require this character to execute one in order to break the foe's defense and set up for an aerial command grab. There would be quite a bit more strategy involved than you think, particularly regarding directional throws leading into eachother, setting up ground to air, using midair command to launch or ground a foe...
Wario's Bite attack functions as a commandgrab. As such it ignores shields. In Project M it was taken further by allowing players to pummel, throw forward, and throw backward to follow up however they please.
Also I never said a grappler would add nothing to smash. I said it'd be a difficult thing to balance because smash is a fundamentally different game from arcade fighters.
If by a loose sense you define a grappler character as one with commandgrabs, then Wario and Bowser will fit that bill. The difference is that their movesets aren't so much built around the grabs as the grabs are more of tools to augment their fighting styles.

????? do you think it'd take up "a slot" or are you really still hung up about metal gear rising fans having more fun than you
im not even getting this game and i would kill for some kind of platinum rep
I'd still like to see someone from them like Bayonetta.

nice to see you're maintaining a vendetta against me but no, i just wanted to make a joke playing off your 'i would kill for this' cliche. i actually wouldn't really care about a platinum rep, they'd just be odd considering how characters like shulk get criticized for not being nintendo stars or having any history with nintendo but no-one raises those same complaints about W101 etc.
So, is Shulk basically confirmed?
If so, then damnit. I wanted someone that I would've not expected, not another swordsman. If he's in, I hope to god they make him unique and interesting to play as.
I don't necessarily care about the character, but rather if they're any fun and whether or not their Up-B is any good.
there were 5 swordsmen in brawl
of them, one wasn't humanoid, two shared a moveset but only used their swords in half their attacks and the other two were completely different in how they played with one focusing on spacing and the other focusing on hitting things really hard
i'm gonna out on a limb here and say it wouldn't be hard to make two more sword using characters different. especially when shulk has artes. i get the worrying about chrom but pacman has taught me to never doubt the sakurai. (whether or not they're gonna be fun to play or any good is another question entirely of course)
I would love to see Dillon from Dillons Rolling Western in the game. Basically as a heavier/bigger sonic and less special moves dedicated to 'rolaln

personally i wouldn't turn down any newcomer. i just want to see good games getting the representation they deserve
i dont even know who shulk is but he seems like a pretty popular (serious) candidate, probably the most popular as far as third-party candidates go from what i've seen. of course he'd be under more scrutiny than other franchises
i am definitely looking forward to shulk
even more so i want to see the xenoblade stages, so much potential for cool stuff
personally, i've never heard of shulk before people started speculating that he was in smash, and i hope it's someone else
i mean i won't get upset if does turn out to be him (except for the fact that i'll then know that none of the rest of the newcomers interest me at all), but i still hope it's not
third-party
The company that made Xenoblade is entirely owned by Nintendo. fyi. edit: technically they were bought out after the game was released, though
otherwise fair enough, a plat rep would at least be from a series that isn't already represented. i honestly think wonder red is a shoe in for smash 5. the way the roster is planned seems to make it difficult for characters to be added if they're from games released near smash's development time; otherwise you might get into situations like the whole 'let's add lucas OOPS HIS GAME STILL ISN'T OUT, keep ness in instead' thing. unless sakurai specifically asked (ie greninja) or was asked about them (ie roy) it'd probably be safer to leave them out.

Fair points, though I'd still insist a more focused grappler could definitely be doable in Smash, and be more balanced and unique than you'd think.
The key is aerial capability. Captain Falcon's up-B and Ganondorf's side and up-B demonstrate that aerial grab mechanics work on a fundamental level, and I can imagine a character built around those sorts of moves working nicely. Imagine a character that could grab a foe in the air, ground them, use the bounce to line up for a grounded throw directing them off the side of the stage at a low angle, jump after them, grab them a third time in midair and chuck them downward at the blast zone. While it sounds incredibly powerful (and it would be), every step would require direct physical contact, movement prediction, an understanding of your foe's weight, proper positioning in the stage, and knowledge of what ways at any given time they could thwart the approach, leaving you fumbling in a failed grab state and wide open for a counter.
[editline]t[/editline]
Smash is one of the only series/engines I can think of where such a character COULD work without being either incredibly broken (too mobile) or next to useless (cramped by small stages)

fml ;_; first wonder red now dillon
so who wants to bet that, if shulk's in, and he has voice acting, something he says will become the smash 4 equivalent of I FIGHT FOR MY FRIENDS/FALCON PUNCH/etc

Hey look, its Rayman!
Pic of the day. In order to make Rayman's trophy, we asked Ubisoft to share their references. We were expecting to receive 2D drawing references for Rayman, but to our surprise, they sent us data of a brand new 3D model that they rendered for this game!! And that was how this trophy was created. It takes a lot of work creating each model, so it's wonderful that the creators contributed their own efforts!!
but why?
What the fuck.
I really hope this changes everything.
Travis Touchdown reveal coming.
It secretly will install DRM into your WiiU console.
Rayman teases the character selection!
I don't even get this, Ubisoft practically spat in Nintendo's face last year. Why even acknowledge them? I mean fuck they won't acknowledge a Nintendo IP made in America but they'll give a trophy reference a third party company that's done little favor to them?
Jesus and I thought Sakurai couldn't top his mindgames.
That's pretty damn cool. Nintendo really wants to get all of the gaming mascots in this game some way or another.
