I already speculated on why I think she's an Alt in previous posts. I can see the possibility that she's her "own" character but currently that's not what I think is happening.

Now? No way, Fire Emblem is a big franchise at this point.
Fire Emblem is probably at its biggest point in popularity, at least in the states, than it ever has been. I'm not gonna lie, I was surprised, but it's not really that far-fetched.

Got a friend who does voice acting localizations who said Shulks VA reprised his role recently.
Didn't say it was for smash or anything but still. Interested to see where that goes.
Lucina might be a separate character because:
- She has a separate character page
- She had the "Lucina wakes her blade" tagline
Lucina might be an alt costume because:
- She's not classified as a newcomer on the frontpage and has a smaller portrait
- Her moveset and appearance are very similar to Marth's
Also gotta consider that if she's an alt skin she's the first one that isn't just that character in a different costume so maybe she's like a special alt skin.
Or maybe she's just the laziest clone character of all time. This was a pretty vague reveal and I don't know what to make of it.

Fire Emblem Awakening ascended the franchise nearly to one of Nintendo's primary series alongside its main legacies. It's a turn-based strategy series, yes, but everything is a niche technically. It's no surprise that it's pretty damn popular, and if anything it's poetic since Smash Bros helped Fire Emblem even really become a [i]thing[/i] in America (even though the characters are chosen with the Japanese fanbase in mind first, but still).

Yeah I'm not stupid, she could end up being on her own character slot for all I know as a special case potentially like Dark Pit despite playing being the same character and that's enough to fulfil the conditions.
Regardless I see the potential of her not having the tipper or minor damage changes to be possibly be a clone, but that's not something I can see in the video.
Currently the small banner, her animations and attack effects all being ripped from Marth (even specials), sharing her video with Robin and that she's not the same character but gender swapped "thus site page" is why I currently believe she's an Alt.
If Lucina is a new character then why were the only moves shown the exact same as Marth?

Has there been any other character with an "x joins the fight" type reveal? Clone characters aren't out of the norm so you can't really point to recycled content as an argument, the two most famous fighting game characters were head swaps.
On the mobile site she has a panel the same size as all the other newcomers.
On the desktop site she has a veteran sized panel.
Clonecina it is.

No, it wasn't. Sakurai simply said that in development, he was treating it as if it was the last, similarly to idea of "Live every day like it was your last". Brawl was only potentially the final game in the series in the same aspect that literally every game could've been the last in its series.
Actually I would loved Roy instead Ike.
