I wonder if the veterans' reused voiceclips are placeholder or not.

You know, since he's a ninja, I thought he'd be mute.
I kinda wish he was, now.
Frogs are quite vocal after all...
is victory music no longer character-dependent?
is victory music no longer character-dependent?
Maybe not on the 3DS?
is victory music no longer character-dependent?
I think there's still the character-specific jingle, the Smash Bros 64 music just comes after it
is victory music no longer character-dependent?
Uh, no. I clearly heard a bit of punch-out music in the video where Little Mac wins.

Looks like he's playing a demo? The fact that it gives you the controls and a "Thanks for playing!" implies that there is one. Maybe we'll get it a few weeks or a month before the release.

Yeah, I definitely heard the Megaman jingle after his victory.
Don't scare me like that, V_Buns...
I never played super metroid so picked it up awhile back and just could not get into it despite loving almost every other game in the series. It just felt so slow and clunky.

Yey, they got the bestest Awakening music for the Fire Emblem stage.

Use the run button.
Pretty extreme example, but yeah, that. It balances out in that game because it locks you to only one character (while your opponent can pick two smaller ones), your hitbox is huge, your movements are easy to read, and your supers can be surprisingly tough to land.
In Smash though... The stages are very different from the average fighting game. There are doorways and nooks and other small openings that they need to make sure ALL of the characters can fit into. Otherwise someone like Fox could just sit in a crevice you can't reach and stall out the match in his favor. Very big characters - ones as big as Gold Lightan - would require much more open stage design where this is not possible. It's much harder than you think to add a giant character to Smash.
Canon wise, Ridley has been as large as bowser.
it's a problem of size and proportions. Bowser's nice and chunky and round, he can be scaled to any size he wants. Ridley needs to be above a certain size to not look fucking horrifying because of his pencil neck, arms and legs, but as soon as you bring him up to scale, his wings and tail extend too far to be reasonable.
and don't post the project m videos or the Melee intro clip, we've seen them: it's some good work, but they make Ridley look horrifying and butcher his character design to make it work
imo anyone who says ridley wouldn't work in smash bros is a fool
if ssb4's line of newcomers doesn't convince you then idk what to tell you

why is the purple space dragon thing not supposed to look horrifying
i doubt such a thing would ever be pleasing to the eye
To hell with the ridley talk. Let's talk about the real newcomer:
Chibi Robo. In his actual 2 inch tall size :v:

it's more contortion-horrifying. imo he works better as a stage boss due to how his design is meant to be intimidating in size. I guess they could pull a character design thing and make it more so that he works as a fighter, but personally i'd rather see him as a full-scale giant dragon demon thing that dwarfs the fighters in size.
it's horrifying in a bad way. as in, it fucks up Ridley's design so that you feel grossed out looking at it, instead of, "shit, this dude's a purple fuckin' space dragon."
I also disagree that all the newcomers prove Sakurai can do anything. Sakurai's challenges were coming up with sensible and unique movesets for characters who would have no problem fitting the scale: Pac-Man, Villager, Megaman, Greninja, Wii Fit Trainer, Goku, Rosalina, Lucina, Robin, etc. You can't tell me all those humanoid characters required excessive redesigning just so they could fit on stage properly.
You're talking Ridley, you're talking about going back all the way to the concept art stage and entirely redesigning his appearance. Every other attempt has been made, it doesn't work. Even if, they wouldn't spend that much time trying to make it work.

You guys are disagreeing and saying it's just a matter of creativity, but you're not talking logistics

I lost you at Goku.
Too hype about him being included; can't listen to the rest of the argument.
i come back to looking at smash bros announcements after Pac-Man gave me a heart attack and i see two new people i have never heard of before
who the fuck are Lucina and Robin

Two popular reps from the latest FE title, Fire Emblem: Awakening. Amazing game if you're into Fire Emblem at all.
