RIDLEY CONFIRMED???

(OC sorry if not funny)
Two popular reps from the latest FE title, Fire Emblem: Awakening. Amazing game if you're into Fire Emblem at all.
Heck, I'd call it a good game full stop. Especially if you're into strategy or games with a diverse array of characters.

Should have been "is now here to fuck them"
I feel like the biggest improvements in SSB4 are improvements to game feel. Stuff like lines clearly showing attack paths, hits that feel stronger, big effects when you hit a character hard, etc. It looks really satisfying to play.

agreed, they really tightened up everything. the most satisfying thing to me is the fact that they're not just listening to veterans, but CLOSELY listening and adjusting accordingly

Sounds too!
They feel satisfying to hear. Those "CLACK" sounds when you hit people and the "Pssyuu!" KO sound.
Everything about this installment was well thought out, with good readability in mind.
Sakurai has always been good with satisfying sound design, and not just with Smash. His other projects are stellar that way too.
Who here remembers the whole host of really good engine sounds for the machines in Air Ride? The Hydra's still gives me chills.
KIRBY AIR RIDE WAS A SMASH GAME IDC

Sakurai really should make an Air Ride 2
[sp]If not a new F-Zero would be nice...just saying[/sp]
it's horrifying in a bad way. as in, it fucks up Ridley's design so that you feel grossed out looking at it, instead of, "shit, this dude's a purple fuckin' space dragon."
I also disagree that all the newcomers prove Sakurai can do anything. Sakurai's challenges were coming up with sensible and unique movesets for characters who would have no problem fitting the scale: Pac-Man, Villager, Megaman, Greninja, Wii Fit Trainer, Goku, Rosalina, Lucina, Robin, etc. You can't tell me all those humanoid characters required excessive redesigning just so they could fit on stage properly.
You're talking Ridley, you're talking about going back all the way to the concept art stage and entirely redesigning his appearance. Every other attempt has been made, it doesn't work. Even if, they wouldn't spend that much time trying to make it work.

You guys are disagreeing and saying it's just a matter of creativity, but you're not talking logistics
Truly horrifying.
Without touching his proportions or look in the slightest and just scaling him down. Does it really look that bad? He's hardly the stick figure people make him out to be, I mean at this scale his neck is just a little thinner than Samus' limbs. Imagine how much better he could look if the actual game designers put some effort into it.
It's really not that hard to fit him in the game - it's just a matter of whether Sakurai wants to.
what the fuck look how tiny he is
[editline]20th July 2014[/editline]
he's basically as tall as samus in that shot like why
that's not ridley
that's just a purple coloured bat

That's just some art shopped onto a screenshot, it doesn't properly portray how a 3D model of something that lanky would look.
I wouldn't say it's not possible to make him look decent, but slapping a piece of art on a screenshot is hardly proof.
[sp]also imo ridley just isn't the kind of character that should be playable, he's MEANT to be a huge intimidating boss, comparing him to bowser isn't fair because bowser isn't meant to be as intimidating I mean come on half the games he's in he's a bumbling idiot[/sp]
[sp]also we've already had ridley's [notably huge] shadow teased on that very stage, the stage in which he was fought as a boss in Other M, pretty obvious he's going to be a stage hazard I don't really get this continued belief that he will be playable[/sp]
Ridley would work, I just don't really want him in the game.
His role as a (probable) stage hazard boss suits him a lot more than an actual playable character.
Wasn't the Ridley in Other M some [sp]weird clone/offspring[/sp], not actually Ridley?

Changing the subject to alt costumes, I hope we get "Famicom" Captain Falcon from F-ZERO GX:

Captain Fabulous, Captain Midas, and Famicom would be the holy trinity of Falcon alts.
I don't understand the mindset that playable characters can't be intimidating. Ganondorf is an intimidating character, but he works perfectly well as a playable character and is no less intimidating for it.
But yeah, Ridley probably isn't going to be a playable character - I'm just saying there is no real reason for him not to be.
Golden Plains (the NSMB2 stage) looks to be one of my favourite stages so far. I love it's aesthetics and it's music.
If ridley were to be a fighter I think he should almost be a reverse little mac. In that I mean him having a huge air game while having to consider positioning when it comes to attacking and actually getting KOs.
you mean jigglypuff
I'd be sad if Ridley got in. Not because I don't want him in but because all the too big jokes wouldn't work anymore.
I'm just tired of all the people saying "He's not too big, he should be in, he looks fine scaled down" and then the counter arguments going "He's too bosslike to be a character; an example of a scaled down Ridley doesn't prove a thing; he's designed to be a giant monster, it'll ruin him"
Let's just get back to getting ready for the Goku reveal.

Actually, I'd love to see it in Smash.
It would work the same way as the Dragoon but instead of going perpendicular to the screen, it would go horizontally, similar to the Pokemon Spire lasers or Zelda's Light Arrows.
Dunno, just an idea that popped out.

It'd be really cool if it acted like a fusion between a souped up Wario Bike and the Donkey Kong Hammer.

That's actually exactly what I was thinking. Get all the pieces, shoot off the side of the screen, then a bright green line segments the stage from side to side, which you can decide the height of. Press A, and the Hydra comes screaming across the stage in the blink of an eye at the height you chose, dealing huge amounts of damage and knockback to anyone in your way.

A mobile-controllable Metacross-jackhammer on steroids?
idk about you guys, but if Captain Rainbow doesn't make it into Smash 4 as a playable character or an assist trophy, I want him to be an alt costume for Captain Falcon.

that game's like the anti-smash. instead of beating up really famous nintendo characters, you try to be friends with all the weird and forgotten ones
Ridley is dumb. I WANT THE GUY FROM EXCITEBIKE
