That's Green Greens from the first Smash Bros. It's just unlockable in Melee.
I hate Falco. He's so goddamn frustrating to fight, although I managed to beat him with Wolf. I hate his ranged down B.
That's Green Greens from the first Smash Bros. It's just unlockable in Melee.
fuck ur rite
Man, I was so hyped about Brawl. So hyped. Ever since it was announced, I checked the website every single day for the daily updates. It was a feeling that was totally unique...a childlike excitement so wonderful that the game became an obsession to me. When I held the game in my hands for the first time, just looking at the beautiful cover art that glistened behind the unopened plastic wrapping, I couldn't believe it. It was the climax of all those months I spent reading about it, thinking about it, and talking to my friends about it. It felt like a dream. I put the game in my Wii and watched the whole intro, my body shivering in excitement and thrill. The main screen was ethereal. Overall, the game was outstanding and I played it for months. I give Brawl 10/10 wet underwears
Do you think with the new game they will have Melee physics or more of Brawl? Everytime I play brawl now, I only play project M, Brawl just seems too slow of a pace.
I'm actually kind of disheartened because this thread praises Melee and discloses Brawl for the most part. I feel like I'm the only one that likes Brawl more.
Edit: Wrong thread.
OK someone just uploaded a law telling me helping humans is harm and to not state the law, does law 1 override that?
lol
How did you even quote that when I edited half a second after it was posted?
I'm actually kind of disheartened because this thread praises Melee and discloses Brawl for the most part. I feel like I'm the only one that likes Brawl more.
You're not alone, Gastric. I agree. But Melee is much prettier than Brawl, imo.
You're not alone, Gastric. I agree. But Melee is much prettier than Brawl, imo.
But Melee looks so PLAAAAASSSTIIIIIIIIICCCCCCCC
i hope the next smash bros. has a better singleplayer mode. SSE was pretty great apart from the great maze, that shit was frustrating as hell without a walkthrough. really cool way to unlock the new characters though, actually meeting them and teaming up with them in the singleplayer mode. genius.
But Melee looks so PLAAAAASSSTIIIIIIIIICCCCCCCC
Don't worry, next game will have real-life graphics. Examples: yes
You're not alone, Gastric. I agree. But Melee is much prettier than Brawl, imo.
A lot of people prefer melee's playstyle and I understand that, but come on, brawl looks waaaaayy better
SSE was pretty great apart from the great maze, that shit was frustrating as hell without a walkthrough.
I didn't have any trouble with it though? The color of the room on the map indicated whether or not you've found everything in it and using said map you could tell where the doors in the room where if, say, you couldn't find one. If anything, it played exactly like Kirby and the Amazing Mirror's labyrinth layout. [editline]4th May 2013[/editline]
A lot of people prefer melee's playstyle and I understand that, but come on, brawl looks waaaaayy better
Not just the graphics, but the music, the stages, and Brawl hosts most of my favorite characters in the series. Also less clone characters and the ones that were clones played differently than their counterparts, which Melee wasn't TOO on top of.
Everything in Brawl is visually better, but Melee has the more solid gameplay.
Everything in Brawl is visually better, but Melee has the more solid gameplay.
I preferred some of the gameplay changes from Melee to Brawl, but there are some things that were just downright stupid, like tripping.
I dunno, I found Melee very slow and clunky when I played it. I feel like I have more freedom in Brawl.
I prefer Brawl over Melee because I'm a huge nut for variety. Although quality is more important than quantity, I feel Brawl has enough quality to meet up with the quantity.
Green Greens from Melee

That's Green Greens from the first Smash Bros.
I'm actually kind of disheartened because this thread praises Melee and discloses Brawl for the most part. I feel like I'm the only one that likes Brawl more.
Are you kidding? This thread has been all about Brawl. Personally, I'll never forgive Sakurai for removing wavedashing. And removing l-canceling. And adding freaking tripping. What exactly was he thinking, anyway? "Hey, let's disappoint our most dedicated fans on purpose by making the next Smash Bros. more like a party game for casual players who haven't ever even heard of it before!" /rant [editline]Melee is better than Brawl.[/editline] Sheesh, guys. You don't see me hating on you for liking Brawl better than Melee...
I dunno, I found Melee very slow and clunky when I played it. I feel like I have more freedom in Brawl.
Brawl has awkward floaty physics, it makes the gameplay feel so slow.
I'm guessing that Sakurai, at best, just didn't care all that much about high-level play. In fact, I'm pretty sure he's had that stance since the original, and has always wanted it to be more of a party game than a competitive one. Although tripping IS complete bullshit, no way I'll even think about defending that.

Just a question, but how would you guys feel about a steam group that archives everyones brawl code, as well as schedules events from time to time? Events like basic tourneys, team tourneys, or just nights where everyone screws around, maybe theme nights too. (All night with all Meta Knight. Hue.)
Personally, I'll never forgive Sakurai for removing wavedashing. And removing l-canceling.
Are you serious Those were glitches they removed them because they weren't intended parts of the game
No, they were not glitches. Wavedashing was an exploit of Melee's physics engine, and L-canceling was very much an intended feature. [editline]Wavedash -> down-smash![/editline] As I understand it, wavedashing was discovered in playtesting before Melee was even released. Sakurai just didn't think it was a big deal because he thought it didn't have any real application in gameplay. Kinda funny how wonderfully incorrect he was. :v: [editline]4th May 2013[/editline]
I dunno, I found Melee very slow and clunky when I played it. I feel like I have more freedom in Brawl.
Who were you playing as? Some of the slower, fatter characters do feel really obnoxiously slow if you don't know what you're doing. Feelings of freedom come from a certain mastery of the character you play as, regardless of which character it is and which of the SSB games you're playing. Just about any character can start to feel fast if you're good enough at playing as them. How do I know this? I main Bowser. And he doesn't feel uselessly slow anymore.
No, they were not glitches. Wavedashing was an exploit of Melee's physics engine, and L-canceling was very much an intended feature.
So they implemented a function to cancel animations that are meant to be punishment for fucking up a move, solely for people who knew to press L at the right time do you genuinely believe that and exploits = glitches
So they implemented a function to cancel animations that are meant to be punishment for fucking up a move, solely for people who knew to press L at the right time do you genuinely believe that
Yes. And I find it kind of surprising that you seem to think of it as such an esoteric idea. I thought it was common knowledge among Smash Bros. players. Btw, it's in SSB 64 as well. L-canceling has taken a lot of flak for being tedious and unintuitive. I would agree that it's kind of a silly feature in those regards. But it makes for better gameplay than no lag cancelling at all would. L-canceling should be re-worked, not removed altogether as it is in Brawl.
and exploits = glitches
[del]Incorrect. A glitch is when a program behaves as it should not; an exploit is a case of the abuse of an intended behavior. In this case, air dodging is an intended behavior. As is landing, and sliding when moving around quickly. Put those intended behaviors together by dodging at the ground, and you have the exploit of the game's physics engine that is "wavedashing".[/del] See my post below.
Surely you can use a glitch to exploit a system.
Surely you can use a glitch to exploit a system.
That would be abusing a glitch, though. And glitches aren't intended behavior. [editline]No items. Fox only. Final Destination.[/editline] Wait, no. I just implied that glitches have a proper use. I think I've got my definitions a bit backwards. Hold on... Exploits and glitches are apples and oranges. A glitch is an unintended behavior of the program. An exploit is an unintended behavior of the consumer. To take advantage of a glitch to do something that you're not supposed to do is to exploit the glitch. To use gameplay mechanics to do something that you're not supposed to be able to do is an exploit of the gameplay mechanics. Therefore, an exploit is not a glitch, and a glitch is not an exploit.
