Sakurai considering, or "thinking about" Mewtwo coming back.
The way Sakurai replied makes me think that they're nowhere near finished, and have yet to decide on a large part of the roster. Like, as if they haven't even started most characters and are still tossing ideas around. Potentially anyone could get in, they haven't decided.
I'd play the fuck out of bayleef if they added johto trainer. Or any of chikorota's evolution line

I really hope the Miiverse trolling doesn't influence him in any way.

Do I want to know what's been popping up over there?
All I'm really hoping for in terms of old characters is for Wario to have a Wario Land-centric moveset. Sadly I doubt it'll happen, no character has ever had a moveset get completely revamped; Falco and Ganondorf got changes made to them but they were not too functionally different from their previous incarnations.
At least I'll have Project M to live out my Wario Land fantasies in.

A lot of people who think they can make demands directly to Sakurai for adding or removing characters, people trolling the community in general, and tons of shitposting.

The Wario in Project M was brilliant. Especially the way they approached his Final Smash, focusing on standard attacks and movement (the jumps were ridiculous and the recovery was enormous), weakening special attacks.
I loved his side-special being the rush tackle. Hated the motorcycle in Brawl.

"We want Goku!"
"hey sakurai if you could add goku and naruto that would be great"
"We got megaman but WHERE IS SONIC ??"
"Is batman in this game?"
I don't really understand people who want characters that have nothing to do with Nintendo or even video games. characters like Snake and Sonic in Brawl were a surprise but at least they appeared in a few Nintendo games. People who say stuff like Cloud Strife or Master Chef should be in Smash Bros need to go to the bad corner and write "I will not request stupid characters" a few thousand times.
I've never really understood the Smash Bros community, but even I can see the shitty fans from the good ones.
I'm hoping for Castlevania still.

He's my favorite character
Nintendo basically said megaman was the on exception
really doubt any more 3rd part chars are gonna be in, not even snake or sonic

I would be perfectly fine with this, though snake will be missed just because how unique he was in Brawl
I think Sonic has a good chance of returning, he was 1. heavy requested and 2. pretty much an honorary Nintendo character thanks to the 90's rivalry and the recent 'alliance' between Sega and Nintendo.
Snake was only in because Kojima asked, and he has barely any history with Nintendo otherwise. Seriously, about 5 games on Nintendo consoles compared to Sony's dozen and a bit. He was fun but I wouldn't be surprised if he isn't in Smash4.

In an ideal situation, characters that were distinct in their own rights would not be axed from future iterations of the series.
Clones I can perfectly understand not wanting to spend development time trying to diversify from their base character. But something that has a standalone moveset that's completely unique, it just seems like a step backwards to completely remove it if it was relatively balanced.
Brawl's Snake was a bit campy with the grenades, but there are ways to address that without completely changing him around. Project M did this by limiting him to just 1 grenade out at a time. It's a really simple and elegant solution to a rather glaring problem with the character's balance. I'm certain that Sakurai's team can pull something similar off if they make an attempt.
Well Snake and Sonic are already in with the Smash Bros series, I'm sure Sakurai meant no new 3rd party characters will be joining in.
Seriously, who doesn't want Sonic and Megaman in the same game?
Going back to how Sakurai said they've hit critical mass for characters.
If they are at a point where they can do nothing to add more characters and instead must remove some from the roster, they'll be in an unwinnable situation where they're guaranteed to upset some subset of fans of the game franchise, most notably those who loved the character that gets canned.
As if to make matters worse, one of the biggest things that people tend to look for in new Smash Bros titles is the expanded roster. I think that Melee and Brawl have spoiled us a bit, but other than the "it's a new smash bros" spiel, there's just not as much reason to go out to buy the new version if it doesn't add anything substantial other than being on the newest platform.
I fear for the 5th iteration in the series if they do stick to the idea that they've hit critical mass with characters to balance. I know I will pick it up when it does come out on the next major platform, but I don't think it'll sell nearly as well if it doesn't introduce anything to the roster.

If they bring sonic back they better rework him instead of: Punch, kick kick kick, ROLL ROLL ROLL ROLL ROLL Spring jump ROLL ROLL
all they need to do to make sonic not suck is take away his homing attack because it's all people would use until they got a smash ball
unless if items were off in which case no one would pick him
I really don't believe we are no where near the mass like Sakurai says. If I recalled correctly, he said something similar when he was working on Brawl.
@Psychopath: Smash 4 looks like it'll be at least more viable for competitive play, which could easily make it the next Melee in terms of longevity. So it has that as a draw for players at least.
And I could see movesets and/or playstyles from past characters being put on different ones. Give Ike's heavy sword based moveset to Ganondorf, who now uses a proper sword for fighting. Snake's item based moveset could be given to Duster or Jeff; both use a lot of items and gimmicks in their fighting which could easily translate over.
Jeff would work, he uses a lot of explosives.
Sadly, I don't think Jeff is relevant enough to get in.
[sp]I want to play as Boney.[/sp]
I hope the 3DS and WiiU versions aren't very different.
I don't want to have to buy a WiiU and two copies of the game, which i will for some reason.

There will be exclusive levels for each systems, Console game based levels and DS-based levels.
[editline]19th June 2013[/editline]
Other than that I doubt there's going to be much of a difference

Thats ok but i mean more major changes like games modes or characters.

Sakurai said that the 3DS and Wii U versions will have the same amount of characters. Whether or not this means they will have the same roster is unclear. I'm thinking it will just be character model differences, like the 3DS will have Chrom and the Wii U will have Ike, but they will have the same/similar movesets.
