^ And Wolf, obviously. This is a bit late, but if we do get a Pokemon Trainer with Gen 2 Pokemon, it would be a nice callback if they put in Kris (the first possible girl trainer, from Crystal). I doubt they'll do it though. I also doubt they would grace us with Tyranitar. You know what would be really cool but probably impossible to implement? Eevee.
Cut Toon Link, cut Lucario, we're good
Toon Link would make a lot of sense for the 3DS version. Although I guess they are remodeling him for the next handheld Zelda.
If it is a time thing, I hope we might see those characters return by future post-release patches or dlc.
A damn shame, really. Smash ALWAYS benefits of having extra characters, and losing some was one of the low points of Brawl.
If the 3DS and Wii U versions are having console exclusive levels, how is cross-platform play going to work?
If the 3DS and Wii U versions are having console exclusive levels, how is cross-platform play going to work?
There isn't going to be any
If the 3DS and Wii U versions are having console exclusive levels, how is cross-platform play going to work?
By not having Cross play.
Oh, I thought there was, my bad.
Oh, I thought there was, my bad.
It'll have some sort of connectivity, but no one knows what that is yet. However, trying to tailor the character lists between both of the games has been maddening alongside who to pick for Sakurai, it seems, due to the limitations of the 3DS.
why are you guys so sure if pokemon trainer is included, he will have gen 2 pokemon
why are you guys so sure if pokemon trainer is included, he will have gen 2 pokemon
No one's sure about anything if no one from Nintendo has not said anything about it. The only thing we're sure of is that the original 12 will return, as well as Pit, Bowser, and the 3 newcomers.
Toon Link would make a lot of sense for the 3DS version. Although I guess they are remodeling him for the next handheld Zelda.
I don't see them adding Toon Link unfortunately. He's a stage prop in the 3DS Version, so I don't see him also being a fighter. So that means he wouldn't be in the Wii U one either. But yeah, I'm prepared for a little disappointment, as I mained Toon Link. Luckily Villager will suit that position nicely.
"hey sakurai if you could add goku and naruto that would be great"
There was a smash bros esque game called battle stadium don which also contained one piece along those. I really want a sequel to it which would also includes Bleach that'd be great.
My personal opinion on cut characters: I don't mind losing Falco and Wolf since they are so similar to Fox (Yes I know they had their differences) I don't mind losing Lucas [del]and Ike[/del] for similar reasons. I don't mind losing Pokemon Trainer because, although he was a pretty unique character, he also takes up more time and space than other characters and isn't especially beloved either. If he's out that means more characters can be in. I don't mind losing Lucario if we get Mewtwo or some other pokemon to that effect in his place. I don't mind losing Dedede but that's just me. I hope R.O.B. isn't removed but he probably is. I hope Snake isn't removed but he quite possibly is. Toon Link probably should be removed but I hope he isn't. I would be disappointed to see Meta-Knight go. I would be disappointed to see Sonic go. I would be disappointed to see Ganondorf go. Give him a new move set, don't just get rid of him.
I don't mind losing Lucas and Ike for similar reasons.
But Ike isn't even a clone, fight me.
But Ike isn't even a clone, fight me.
Oh, I thought he was a clone, albeit with some changes, of Marth. I haven't played this game for a while though, so you're probably right.
A general guideline I like to go with is: If the character has appeared in smash 64, melee, and brawl, it's not going to be removed If that character has appeared in only melee and brawl, it MIGHT be cut but its very unlikely (characters like bowser and peach won't be removed, but game & watch is not guaranteed) The only characters I see getting cut are brawl newcomer "clones" like toon link and wolf, I don't see lucario coming back either despite being a fairly unique character
There was a smash bros esque game called battle stadium don which also contained one piece along those. I'm wondering how much inspiration Sakurai's team has drawn from fan-created projects based on the franchise. Standalone projects like Super Smash Flash or Super Smash Land, or modifications to official titles like Project M and Brawl Minus do. Valve's openly stated and shown that a dedicated community will typically be capable of creating something that's potentially better than the developers can hope to achieve, purely through dedication to the franchise.
$5 says Toon Link and Lucario are cut
Why are people hating on the Fox characters? Fox, Falco, and Wolf are the shit. They're not even clones. Wolf has a different move set. They just play similar. Ganondorf and Captain Falcon are clones. How about give Ganondorf a sword and some dark magic, maybe even some float ability. I don't recall him ever punching and kicking in a game, it looks weird as fuck.
wolf isnt a clone falco is a clone
They aren't clones, I would describe them more as triplets. Basically the same but with some obvious differences.
They aren't clones, I would describe them more as triplets. Basically the same but with some obvious differences.
Said differences aren't big enough to be noticeable though, they all have landmasters, blasters, an illusion dash, a reflector, and two of them have a flaming jump thing.
Hey... maybe our second Link will be the A Link Between Worlds' one. I always loved the design of the old SNES/Gameboy Link. It could using tools from it's game or from the other games like Oracles and ALttP where the design appeared. He could play VERY differently from the TP/SS Link. Also... I hope that if we get two Fox characters, that their Final Smash isn't the same god damn Landmasters... I thought it was a boring concept then they multiplied it by THREE with slight variants. They could have easily given Falco a Dragoon-like Arwing Final Smash and Wolf something else. I dunno. It was so redundant... I really hope Final Smashes are getting tweaked. Mario's was pathetic. It was a joke to dodge.
Cut Toon Link
TBH I think making Toon Link as a costume for Link would be fine instead of removing him completely, especially with Wind Waker HD coming out. Plus, I've grown to really like using Toon Link.
TBH I think making Toon Link as a costume for Link would be fine instead of removing him completely, especially with Wind Waker HD coming out.
Size differences would be a problem.
Size differences would be a problem.
Good point. Ah fuck it, I don't mind if Toon Link is only in there as an assist or background character or whatever the fuck, I just want him to be in one way or another.
