That would be abusing a glitch, though. And glitches aren't intended behavior.
[editline]No items. Fox only. Final Destination.[/editline]
Wait, no. I just implied that glitches have a proper use. I think I've got my definitions a bit backwards. Hold on...
Exploits and glitches are apples and oranges.
A glitch is an unintended behavior of the program.
An exploit is an unintended behavior of the consumer.
To take advantage of a glitch to do something that you're not supposed to do is to exploit the glitch.
To use gameplay mechanics to do something that you're not supposed to be able to do is an exploit of the gameplay mechanics.
Therefore, an exploit is not a glitch, and a glitch is not an exploit.
so your initial point was that they were exploits rather than glitches and therefore shouldn't have been removed
but now you say that the fucking definition of an exploit is to do something you're not supposed to do

Wavedashing is unintended behavior, yes. But that's not to say that it should be removed.
Btw, you need to calm down.
Just a question, but how would you guys feel about a steam group that archives everyones brawl code, as well as schedules events from time to time?
Events like basic tourneys, team tourneys, or just nights where everyone screws around, maybe theme nights too. (All night with all Meta Knight. Hue.)
I'd still like opinions on this.
there's just something about watching a TAS that makes it so entertaining.

I had forgotten about the venom stage from melee until I saw that video. I honestly think that stage might have been one of the worst stages in the entire series. It was annoying having to constantly fight on a slope with that tail piece acting as a divider in the middle of it.
I'm guessing that Sakurai, at best, just didn't care all that much about high-level play. In fact, I'm pretty sure he's had that stance since the original, and has always wanted it to be more of a party game than a competitive one. Although tripping IS complete bullshit, no way I'll even think about defending that.
As far as i'm concerned it was always a party game.
Tripping is still stupid though.
I'd still like opinions on this.
I'm not personally very interested because I play SSBB and SSF2 with some of my mates at school pmuch every day, but i'm sure there are guys who don't know anyone that are interested in playing with them, and that they would appreciate it.

If something is unintended behaviour of course it should be removed. Are you listening to yourself?
Nice "U mad?" defense. You think you can read emotions through the internet?
You're not alone, Gastric. I agree.
But Melee is much prettier than Brawl, imo.
I wish I could say I was trolling with this, but I wasn't. But I'm not going to dig it back up for Round 2, so we'll just leave it at that.
The main reason I consider Brawl to be better than Melee is because of the ability to play Subspace Emirassy (Brawl Adventure Mode) co-op. Loads of fun was had with that addition. I wonder how they are going to top that in the new installment.

Woah

i love brawl over melee for p much everything, the roster, the music, the stages, the single-player mode, ...
and even the "floaty" physics, melee was 2fast4me.
Project M is coming along nice.

Unintended behaviors are wonderful, and have defined multiple games, and game play elements. Such as rocket jumping, or skiing in tribes. Hell devil may cry was developed around a bug encountered during the development of a resident evil game. Especially in competitive communities. Cancels in fighting never started as an intentional feature and now a vast amount of them a manually put in. Being unintended does not mean that it is bad, or detrimental in anyway. It just means that it is as the definition implies, not as intended. Exploits and bugs both are what have made many series over the years famous, and set them apart from their competitors.
Also, emotion most certainly does read through text. Not necessarily accurately, but it does. If it didn't, books would be horribly boring.
-snip-
What I love about SSB series is that it doesn't require memorizing button combinations to best your opponent in quickdrawing the said combos. That's the precise reason why fighting games don't appeal to me.
Can anyone help me? I'm trying to install a custom character over marth. More specifically this.

Anyone know an easy way to install her through Project M and GeckOS?
About the plastic feel of Melee: The characters of different series looked both consistent with the series AND with each other. Meanwhile, Brawl had Mario trying to go "realist", and a far too large divergence between the Playable Characters, bosses and assists, and the rest of the trophies (due to those being recycled models).
The Melee Mario would work just fine in a Mario game, the Brawl Mario, well, I wouldn't have it as clear.
As for gameplay, it was simplified; starting is always easy, but you end up feeling restricted by the game faster than with Melee. And clunky, in a way your reflexes are outspeeding your own character; combo potential was removed. Melee can be played as a party game just fine. In fact, in my experience it feels better, due to not having screen-obscuring shit sans a quite rare Togepi effect.
And again, the art style shift takes out a lot of contrast, and made the game look like a tryhard. Adding at the same time realistic textures for fucking Mario, and having Ganondorf run like he was running out of breath, and randomly tripping, is not a wise choice in my opinion.
If I hit an opponent in midair with a strong attack, he should be the one that has a small period of nonmovility, not me. That kills the flow of the battle.
Still gotta admit the clones weren't good choices at Melee. Even if I liked some of those better than the original (I miss Melee Falco's reflector Spike, and Roy was fun), a degree of Luigification is always welcome.
And the unlocking criteria of Melee was objectively more rewarding; starting with a lethal joke character and ending with the character nobody expected; starting with a starter character of the previous game which has a clone in the startup roster, and ending with yet another Fox-inspired character... yeah. Plus too many new characters as starters, and most unlockables being old characters...
EDIT: For all the content addition, we went from 25 bonus stages to 5. And no platform boarding either.
Brawl isn't as bad of a game as some people make it out to be. I definitely think Melee is a better game though. To me, Brawl just seems to lack the sort of punch that Melee had.
The announcer in Brawl seems very dull to me compared to Melee's.
The sound effects also seem odd in Brawl, it just feels like they went with more of a cartoonish style to some of them.
The music in Brawl just seems to be missing the same feel that Melee's brought, not saying it's bad. But how many different remixes of that main theme did they have to put in the game?
To me, Brawl seemed to lean more for a cartoonish feel.
Melee managed to be both a party game and a competitive game without really taking away from either side. Brawl on the other hand has some really bad balancing such as Metaknight and landmasters (in comparison to other final smashes) but it becomes a more interesting party game mostly due to the map creator that they limited for some reason.
Also, why did Brawl take out the sword clanging? Watching two sword characters dual was made so much better because of that.
a paper mario would be cool

You guys are no fun.
The reason that I don't like Brawl is because everything feels super heavy.

Yeah, Brawl ruined Link by making him so heavy.

Please stop trying to bring up the "Melee is better" wave, again. I understand you strongly feel that Melee is a superior game, but at this point, it seems as if you're trying to force it.
Let's just appreciate the games that we all grew up with. ~<3

Sheesh, it was just a joke.
[editline]Show me your moves![/editline]
Yeah, Brawl ruined Link by making him so heavy.
Weight and fall speed are not to be confused. For instance, Fox is the fifth-lightest character in Melee, and yet he has the second-highest average falling speed (after Falco). Bowser and Pichu, the heaviest and lightest characters in Melee, respectively, actually have the same terminal velocity (if they don't fast-fall).
Weight affects knockback distance, mostly on the horizontal. The higher the weight, the shorter the distance the character gets knocked around. The speed of throw animations also depends on the thrown character's weight, with heavier characters taking longer to throw.
Falling speed is petty self-explanatory, though higher falling speeds actually help reduce vertical knockback. This is why Fox, Falco, and Captain Falcon are hard to KO off the top of the stage, and Bowser is relatively easy to. Unfortunately for so-called "fast fallers," really high fall speeds make a character much easier to chaingrab, tech chase, and especially gimp.
Brawl's Link's main problem is that his jumps and recovery move just don't go anywhere. He's downright vertically challenged.
Sheesh, it was just a joke.
i don't care, if you start to repeat the same "joke" over and over, it becomes only annoying.

When was the last time you heard someone point out that Brawl's metascore is one point higher than Melee's?
We all know Brawl is geared more for a fun family game where as Melee is a balance of family and competitive. No need to bicker over this topic like children repeatedly.
Any news for the new SSB?
