I've always thought Luigi's final smash should be him using the Poltergust. What even is that final smash in Brawl?
Luigi has Negative Zone, where he does this weird dance and every colour inverts.
Luigi's Final Smash. As exotic music plays, he performs a dance befitting a sorcerer's incantation. A barrier envelops him, negatively impacting all in his area. Random effects include getting launched, sleeping, moving in slow motion, tripping, fainting, and losing attack power. This technique is a reflection of the dark side he embraced in his brother's shadow.

Description of the Final Smash Trophy.
oh luigi you don't have to beat yourself up anymore look at how many games nintendo's releasing all because of you you're an important part of nintendo history and don't let those other palette swaps get to you
Essentially between the two versions the character structure is the same, and the moves shared between the characters are the same, but the stages are entirely different.
Am I reading this wrong or is it implying different characters in each version but they share the same moves? Otherwise this sure is a complicated way to say "the characters are the same but the stages are not." [editline]21st June 2013[/editline] Though hey,
Sakurai: But that's not to say that I don't appreciate very high-level competitive play, the type of very refined competitive gameplay that happens in other fighting games. Personally, I have a lot of experience playing in the arcade scene, and personally came out as a champion of a 100-person battle in arcade Street Fighter II. Kotaku: Recently? Sakurai: A long, long time ago. So I don't wanna ignore that there's that type of pleasure to be had from the game.

? If memory serves don't you only need a joystick, A/B/Z and two shoulder buttons or something to play Smash Bros? The 3DS has 4 buttons on the front, two shoulder buttons and a D-pad/thumb pad.
You're going to be limited in what you're capable of doing, though. The c-stick can be used not only to perform smash attacks quickly, but also to use directional air attacks that are a different direction from where you're going. So you can use a back-air while moving forward, or an up-air while fast-falling, for example. The 3ds version is gonna feel less capable as a competitive fighter due to the lack of these inputs, but I'm sure it'll stand just perfectly fine on its own regardless of higher-level play.
Kotaku: Back to characters, I just have one more question about the characters real quick—is there any third-party character that you'd most want to see in a Smash Bros. game? Sakurai: I'm really sorry. If I were to answer that question, I'd get in a lot of trouble in a lot of different ways, so I can't answer. (laughter) But I think I can say generally that there won't be a trend of adding a lot of third-party characters. You can sort of think of Mega Man as being the special case.
http://www.gamnesia.com/news/next-smash-bros.-will-feature-few-third-party-characters
I think Pac Man will be the only other one [editline]22nd June 2013[/editline] I should clarify: Only other new one I fully expect Snake and Sonic to both return
I think maybe 2 or 3 third party characters are enough for a Smash Bros game tbh.
I think maybe 2 or 3 third party characters are enough for a Smash Bros game tbh.
I think less than a tenth of the roster is fine, assuming there ends up being 43-odd characters
I only really want Sonic to return as a third party. Snake was fun but he's hardly Nintendo. Him and Megaman would be fine, imo.
Said differences aren't big enough to be noticeable though, they all have landmasters, blasters, an illusion dash, a reflector, and two of them have a flaming jump thing.
Well, the differences become more apparent when you use a button other than B.
Sakurai: I'm really sorry. If I were to answer that question, I'd get in a lot of trouble in a lot of different ways, so I can't answer.
http://www.gamnesia.com/news/next-smash-bros.-will-feature-few-third-party-characters
I might just be in denial, but this just sounds like he's not going to randomly add tons of third party characters just for the sake of having them. Snake and Sonic earned their place in Smash Bros. the last time around, so they'll probably be coming back.
I still think, as far as clones go, the moveset Ganondorf got was pretty well done (but I still stand by the point of Black Shadow being more worthy of it, while Ganondorf deserves his own sword and magic moveset). Falcon is a fast character with some slow moves, and its main approach is to combo its opponent into a state the slowish move can finish the job. Meanwhile, Ganondorf is a slow character, but with some fast moves, and therefore its main approach would involve using the fast moves to pick a hole in the opponent's defense, and from there utterly destroy it. Well, at least in Melee, in Brawl both of them look like ineffective tryhards. Specially Ganondorf, which went from respect-infounding to what looks like a parody.

But I can't see Snake coming back. He's not appeared on a Nintendo console in a very long while. Plus you'd never get Sutherland to come voice him. Hayter wouldn't make sense. I'd like Snake, specially with better alt costumes (Old Snake, Big Boss, etc) but I can't see it.

I don't want Snake to come back either, I've developed a dislike for the Metal Gear series.
It is unlikely Snake is coming back, Plantium Games wanted to release Metal Gear Rising on the Wii U, but they got denied by Konami.
I hope he is back, he was the best.
I thought Kojima and Sakurai were friends. :(
I thought Kojima and Sakurai were friends. :(
They are, but I think he doesn't see the Wii U stable yet.
He'll probably see it as a stable console after SSB4 releases. [editline]22nd June 2013[/editline] which sucks

It's not completely out of the question.
I would love to see a Naked Snake costume for Snake if he's in the new smash bros.
