I wonder if they'll start using smashbros.com again.

I guess they wanted to make more of a difference between Link and Young --> Toon Link this time around.
I always liked Toon Link more than regular Link as a character anyway, ever since Wind Waker rolled around.

They might give it a redesign when the next Smash Bros. is revealed next month. Back in middle school I used to read that site every morning before getting ready, it was even my home page for a few months. :v:
Hard to believe that was half a decade ago.
The Dojo site and its weekday updates always made me think of the old TF2 updates. Man, those were good times.
guh holy shit the Dojo. Fucking incredible memories man.
I'd wake up every morning and freak the fuck out at the prospect of what'd be revealed each day.
Shit I miss those days

Holy...we're that close to E3 already? Time certainly flew by. But as soon as we get any info, it's gonna make time go by oh so slow.
I agree that Brawl is better in almost every aspect to Melee besides really the main point, gameplay. I thought Melee was faster paced, hated the floating physics with brawl.
I personally played Samus and didn't care regardless if she got a nerf in Brawl, I still played with her and kicked ass all the time still. My real problem with brawl is the slower pace in general and the floaty physics, I personally liked the faster gameplay because it felt like fights didn't drag on much.

I dislike Link, because he's too weak compared to how slow he is.
I really hope they bring the weekly updates back after E3.

I play Samus in Melee but as much as I tried to in Brawl, it just didn't work. The changes to her and the pace of the game just killed the character for me. Most of all the grapple, I'd much rather be able to latch onto anywhere instead of just edges. Half the time it just wouldn't even work in Brawl too.

he's bomb in both melee and the original so it's ok

Let's not forget about the extended grapple beam trick.
SSB brought the concept.
SSBM improved on the concept.
SSBB polished the concept.
I know a good number of people who'll tell you that Brawl was a bit of a step backwards...
[editline]KNEE OF JUSTICE[/editline]
I most certainly do know of a good number of people who will tell you that Brawl was a bit of a step backwards, O'Neil. Just ask anyone in the Melee section of Smashboards.
[editline]BACK-AIR OF LIES[/editline]
You guys are in denial. Honestly. There are tons of people who believe that Brawl was a step in the wrong direction.
That's unfair as Brawl has THE most content of the games.
That only makes sense, though. They had 6.1 times the amount of space on the disc to work with for Brawl than for Melee (8.54 GB vs. 1.4).
Content doesn't change the fact that the gameplay was changed in some bizarre ways.

having a ton of characters in the first place is pretty annoying in fighting games
having a ton of characters that are effectively copies of one another is even more annoying
melee really hit the right balance with number and variety of stages along with the characters
That's unfair as Brawl has THE most content of the games.
Quantity≠Polish. I think the main argument against brawl, is the lack of polish, due to the over abundance of content. Multiples of characters with little to no difference between them (although melee also suffered this problem), new features that weren't very well implemented (like tripping and arguably final smashes), a campaign which had large portions of it taken out because of time restraints and many other problems, that's not to say it's an inferior game but it has it's share of problems. Just like melee.
I could understand an argument saying that brawl is better because of the new physics or because you think the element of randomness from things like tripping improves the play and makes it stand out from other fighting games, but to only say that having more fighters makes it better is kind of silly.
Although I must say I have a large bias towards melee, simply because of faster gameplay, and in my opinion, better balance. [sp]Also they nerfed my favorite character in brawl.[/sp]

didn't brawl have less clones than melee though?
brawl has like 4, 5 if wolf + fox/falco counts as a clone, melee has 6

Wolf isn't a clone. His B's and final smash are similar, but nothing else is.

You could honestly argue that the vast majority of clone characters aren't clones. Even with similar animations, they tend towards playing very differently. It's always been strange to me that they are such a big point of dispute.
In my opinion, if they play differently then they aren't a clone. Fox and Falco play vastly the same from my experience, but I haven't played Falco that much.

Super Smash Bros. TASes are the best.
The only character that could reasonably be called a clone is Toon Link, and maybe Falco but that's pushing it. Ness and Lucas are more different than Mario and Luigi, Wolf is functionally completely different to both Fox and Falco, and Ganondorf/Captain Falcon is similar to Kirby/Dedede.
At the very most, there's 3 in brawl. In melee there were 6 characters that were different in size, weight and other minor tweaks only.

The tweaks were fairly significant though, such as the distance at which you should attack from for marth or roy, and speed and weight differences. Not really justifiably different, but different enough.
I don't see why people hate clones so much. They were different enough for people to actually have preferences. Some liked Cap over Ganon, Roy over Marth, Doc over Mario. If the characters do that then what's the problem with having them?
