The fucking horrible netcode is why, also I notice most of the people playing are new and have no idea how to work together or play the game even. Some guy Ion Cannoned every one of our buildings in 20 minutes.
Anyone planning to host a server?
Most of us have been playing on either whatever servers we can get in, or Jelly's AoW.
Jelly AoW is my goto pick.
Same, I usually go to Jelly.
There's already mod support to an extent. They've released an editor http://renegade-x.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=39&t=2720
That's for old UT3 mod version. There's only a small chance that UDK version will ever get public mod tools because then they would have to ship RenX without cooking it and that will increase its size quite a lot and they don't like that for some reason. They also said that if someone wants to make maps then they should contact them and they'll work something out.
I miss the old Person Ion Cannon charging animations. God damn servers full of bots and with fake player counters.
I'm getting a D3D9 error when I launch the game and it says something about how the desktop "might be locked." WTF does that mean? I haven't been able to find any solutions to the problem - it's been reported a couple times online, and most of the time people seem to have NVIDIA laptop graphics cards(like me). The only solution suggested was on the official website, and it was to install DirectX. I tried but apparently I already have one that is either the same or later as Direct X 9.0c. Any suggestions? edit: http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2759841 I found this which might help. Except the files are called "SystemSettings.ini" instead of "DefaultEngine" for the resolution. I'll try it when I get home.
Found a fix to my issue: http://www.renegade-x.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=34&t=72201#p120196
So I found something out about this game. If you try to join a full game it will, without warning, throw you into another random game.
Better than nothing, I guess.
Anyone planning to host a server?
If people want one set up, I could probably get something going.
make me admin im not biased tia
Anyone want to play together now? I'm getting fed up with only finding 3 or 4 people on my who actually work with me when i suggest something Also, for those who haven't yet, fucking spend money to become a stealth trooper on islands. You can literally move from bush to bush and nobody will see you, it's fucking great.
set up a server on afromana.com / 79.160.178.26 on port 25555 called "Facepunch Server". Not sure if it works globally tho, someone come test. [editline]asd[/editline] it works fine, come join.
I wish I could keep the skin of the normal NOD infantryman, I love it so much.
is it just me or is it nearly impossible to hit anything in this game unless you are using something with a huge RoF or a big explosion [editline]28th February 2014[/editline]
Then what is this?
i'm fairly certain this will release on steam at some point once there they can just push out whatever they want, i mean it already has a lot of steam stuff built in
Hehehehe everytime I nick a GDI Mammoth tank and drive it back to base I get all giddy.
Today I have discovered the wonderful world of Low Quality mode. Woah, I finally tried out skirmishes and they are actually fun Aside from the occasional AI glitch they put up a good fight, and you can even highlight friendly troops and press the spot key to order them to follow you. EDIT: We need a Tiberian Sun mod for this, Sun's GDI was the best incarnation, and almost on par with NOD IMO. [t]http://static3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20101218024148/cnc/images/0/0d/Titan_CC2_Cine1.jpg[/t] I mean who the fuck wouldn't want to drive these Although I do like the GDI characters with faces better than the nod ones, so that is a nice perk to playing GDI in Ren.
I honestly find this greatly horrifying.
Too much tiberium exposure
One thing I am interested in is how the game assigns a score to players. Score seems to be heavily based more on Repairing allied units and damaging/destroying enemy structures, rather then killing enemies units. For example. One round I went purely Offensive, another round I went entirely as an Engineer. When I went offensive I got 41 kills and 7 deaths, my final score was around 990, the highest team score we had was around 3500. I was also in the lower score bracket for my team. When I went repairing, I got no kills and 2 deaths, my final score was 3300, I had the highest team score. Even more interesting is that I only joined near the last 5-10 minutes of the round. One could argue my 41 to 7 kill spree was more helpful to the team in some regards, others would say that repairing is far more useful. The game heavily emphasizes repairing over killing, which is peculiar.
So I found something out about this game. If you try to join a full game it will, without warning, throw you into another random game.
Oh so it wasn't a server restart, I joined a nearly full server(guess it got full the moment before I joined) and found myself on a nearly empty server thinking the server restarted or something.
Every server I've tried joining for the last 10 minutes have thrown me into random near empty ones. Guess I'll just join my own and hope some FP'ers stumble in.
I wonder if there could be a gamemode/map where tiberium actually spreads, and you could either buy harvesters or growth accelerators to defend your base/make it spread right into the enemies' base.
