Nod should be like a glass cannon - powerful guns, but weak armor. Like the old stealth tank - sneak behind a mam and blast it's butt before it has a chance to react. This proves tricky nowadays due to stealth tank not being powerful enough. Flame tank has a short range, so I don't quite understand the damage nerf. Flame soldier as well. Similar story as stealth tank - find a way to position yourself behind GDI and they're done for. Be smart, get rewarded. But nowadays pretty much only SBH seems to have the same deadly stealth attributes as before. Everything else that made Nod Nod is gone. /I've never played the original game, but I can observe what we have now and piece the puzzle together from what old ren veterans on the forums and here have to say, hopefully I got it right EDIT: Oh, got ninja'd and it seems I got it right after all, yay
The only time I feel Nod can really go toe-to-toe with GDI is on maps with air vehicles. Those Apaches are fucking brutal and if GDI doesn't have enough MRLS to counter they can get buttfucked pretty early. Also I've found Nod's AC-130 airstrike to be a very impressive tank buster. When GDI starts camping your base, drop an air strike (SBH makes a good platform for this) and watch their vehicles disintegrate.
Stealth tanks used to do a LOT more damage, you're right. They were also easier to keep track of too, the stealth in Ren X works way different. It's still distance - and health - based, but now you can't keep a stealth unit visible by continuing to do damage to them. I used to track stealth tanks with Orcas by training the gun on them all the time. And that's another thing, before a good pilot could out-maneuver a whole bunch of other air units and actually have a shot, but with the lock on system for every rocket ever you're basically fucked if you don't get the first hit.
Killed a sakura with the portable ion cannon, got called rocket scientist by the UT announcer.
One of the issues right now with vehicle combat is the fact that is pretty much impossible to play anything other than bang bang your dead. Trying to dodge is essentially useless because its laggy as fuck.
I didn't have any real issues with dodging even with the 140 ping I was getting in the FP server. And I'm pretty sure we hit 64 players.
3 hour stalemate on Walls_Flying. Nod Tiberium Refinery + Power Plants VS GDI Barracks oh god it hurt
Gold Rush is pretty unfair for GDI, considering the back entrance the AGT can't reach - while the back entrance for Nod is very well covered by the Obelisk. You have to like, jump behind a tree to kill the LOS lock it gets on you, and even then it's no guarantee you can make a break for the Hand of Nod without getting incinerated unless you have more than one person, while the GDI base 1 person can stealth+nuke it from behind.
i ran into like 200 ping servers constantly and just uninstalled it. ill play it when the networking is much much more reliable.
You do know the game comes with a Launcher, you can use the Launchers Server Browser to view server pings.
i ran into like 200 ping servers constantly and just uninstalled it. ill play it when the networking is much much more reliable.
I'm pretty sure it's not the game's networking dude. If you join servers that aren't in your country, you are gonna get higher pings.

I managed to evade multiple barrages by making them fly right behind me.

You don't know how scary it can be, riding choppers, inside the rotor blades in the true Facepunch Fashion and watching the pilot swerve to dodge a volley of missiles. [editline]5th March 2014[/editline] Just found another two names on the leaderboards https://www.dropbox.com/s/i9u3tev34b2tavg/RenegadeXScoreXie%2BDark.PNG Xieneus and DarkRei9n Found another one Drury, I found you https://www.dropbox.com/s/r13i9zarbqhdu62/RenegadeXScoreDrury.PNG Jesus, you weren't joking when you said your win rate as Nod was only 5%

I love scaring Ramjet snipers with the free marksman, even more satisfying when they cannot find or kill you, focusing all attention to that. People were trying to get rid of bots by voting, it took 4 hours to get enough votes.
A lot of veteran classic players preferred the cheap sniper over the Ramjet character. The lack of a tracer generally meant they could stay in their spot for more than a few kills.
A lot of veteran classic players preferred the cheap sniper over the Ramjet character. The lack of a tracer generally meant they could stay in their spot for more than a few kills.
It's also a bit less lame since you can't easily bodyshot people to death.
I wonder how it would be if they doubled the price of superweapons, and then added a silo that will slash the price and make them have slightly more splash damage by capturing it.
nah, lower time to wait from placement to launch, as the launcher is now on site
nah, lower time to wait from placement to launch, as the launcher is now on site
That wouldn't really work for GDI though, since they use an ion cannon blasted from an orbiting satellite.
That wouldn't really work for GDI though, since they use an ion cannon blasted from an orbiting satellite.
Perhaps for NOD it could fire the missile, and for GDI it could fire the Ion Cannon up to be reflected back down, like the Particle Cannon from Generals.
Those are two entirely different facilities. Like... I know gameplay comes before realism, but it doesn't really make sense for a nuke silo to also function as an ion cannon. A radar or communications tower would be the best solution.
Or you know... you could go with what GDI had ingame for Ion Cannon strikes, Advanced Communications Center. While Nod had to build a Temple of Nod. Honestly with how the bases are I would keep it how it is, it doesn't make sense for a base so small to have such advanced structures. Its bad enough that we don't even have Construction Yards and the entire base runs on one power plant.
Its bad enough that we don't even have Construction Yards and the entire base runs on one power plant.
What would those really do that wouldn't too much upset the balance of the game? Construction Yard I can see being very balance tipping: maybe an auto-repair on all buildings with the strength of a hotwire/technician, similar to the one or two missions in Renegade Single Player when you can't destroy enemy buildings at all because of the Con Yard. or some sort of rebuilding time after a structure is destroyed, it could work, maybe, I don't really know. Two Power Plants, maybe when the first power plant is destroyed disables the defences and when the second power plant is removed, it doubles everyone's cost of buying stuff. for the super weapons, I feel it would be better to just use the regular communications centre, I know, it's not strictly as it was back in Command and Conquer, but it would work for both GDI and Nod. Communications Centre Ideas for what they would do Destroy to deny super weapons? Destroy to deny sidearm upgrades? Provides radar upgrade? seeing enemies on the minimap? or maybe some sort of Radar jamming effect to nearby enemies? It's much like the communications centres you found in Renegade singleplayer. How would a map fit all these buildings in? Construction Yard Power Plant 1 Barracks/Hand of Nod Refinery Weapons Factory/Airstrip Power Plant 2 Communications Centre ATG/Obelisk 3 more buildings would mean the bases would need to be colossal.
Is it just me or is really Engineer like absolutely oversaturated? I feel extremely useless playing any other class. Feels like Engineer/Tech/Hottie is good for everything and every other class is clumsy and limited - even the paid ones, as they rarely get to reach the enemy base and get anything done, and even then they lack the Engineer's 3 explosives. It's like those other classes are only there to kill stuff ad infinitum and never get anything done, with an exception of SBH.

I sometimes take a role with a powerful weapon but it feels like it's purely for escorting engineers with the power-weapons.
Tried voicing my opinion on the forums. Their response in a nutshell: "Yeah it's BS that they can keep weapons after death. Also, APC rush is a valid tactic" :suicide:
