eh, did those under the direction of fat-corgi-guy, he had very good suggestions for keeping the hl2 style
oh man that AR2 sound
IMO the little clinky bit on the shotgun pump sounds weird but everything else is incredible. Love what you did with the AR2.
Here is a small update, tried to get them close to the original style, what do you think? any suggestions? NOTE: None of the skins and other stuffs are to be taken as part of the mod
The shall casings dropping on the ground sound way too loud, as if they were right next to your ear. Otherwise really good
The shall casings dropping on the ground sound way too loud, as if they were right next to your ear.
I´ll get that fixed later on, this video was just to show the gunshots

Good job. Have you replaced the AR2 secondary fire sound as well?
The only thing that bugged me were the explosion sounds. They sounded maybe a bit exaggerated or something. I liked the rest of the sounds, though.

I will say that I think the sound drop-off for the SMG grenade explosion is a little too fast, IMO. It sounds like it just ends. I think the explosion fading sound should be a bit longer, ever so slightly. [editline]...[/editline] Or is that not considered part of the gunshot, and you're still working on it?
Just read through the entire thread. Amazing work guys, can't wait.

Other than that, its all great!
The Gauss gun sounds a little too quiet for my taste.
The Gauss gun sounds a little too quiet for my taste.
I kinda agree. Aren't Railguns supposed to be loud as fuck?
Please, for the love of God, tell me that you're using the Omnipresent Citadel displayed on Page 60, in some shape or form.
eh, nice to see people liked it for the most part, don´t worry about the explosions and all that, there will be more updates, that preview was only intended to show the shoot sounds
I kinda agree. Aren't Railguns supposed to be loud as fuck?
It's not a railgun though, it's a tau cannon.
It's not a railgun though, it's a tau cannon.
I thought it was just the Gauss gun from HL1 strapped to the Jeep? It looks and sounds the same.
Tau Cannon=Gauss Gun

Is this on your guy's radar? Source's bland DSP effects bug me, even when dsp_enhance_stereo is on... but it is a huge improvement still.
Tau Cannon=Gauss Gun
To clarify, it was originally a Gauss Gun. In development, they changed their minds and decided it would be a Tau Cannon instead. They never changed the model name though, so people picking apart the files saw the model name and thought it was a Gauss Gun (that's also how the Gluon Gun got the fan nickname "Egon Gun", and the mysterious man in the suit got the name "gman"). Evidence elsewhere all points to it being a Tau Cannon though.

I'd want to change the way the tau canon charge sound works to be more like Black Mesa's TBH. The speed changing loop is hard to control and I think it squeezes the file down to 11khz no matter what the original mix is. TBH I may have preferred it as a gauss gun. Imagine a huge magnetic canon that shot thick heavy fist sized non-aerodynamic cylinders of solid metal at people at up to the speed of a bullet? Low charge means low power and high charge maxes out the speed... mmm. It'd be like wielding a mini tank canon. Oh well.

P.S Gonna make another video preview later on with updated explosion, gauss, and some other sounds to see what people think and possible changes to be made, no reload sounds yet as we are gonna get custom anims eventually
Please, for the love of God, tell me that you're using the Omnipresent Citadel displayed on Page 60, in some shape or form.
Why the dumbs seriously
It seems that in the game industry, the gauss is a term normally used to name an energy based weapon, like a laser, I guess is the tradition.
Makes me sad. Like, how the hell does Halo of all games get it right and then Crysis of all games goes and does it wrong again?
Speaking of Halo, and along with the whole moving clouds thing - in parts of HL2 where you can see the horizon have you guys considered making the lower clouds in the horizon move too? I bring up halo because I recall (forget it if was in the original game or only a fan map) on the low end of the skybox there were 2d clouds that moved but they were oriented so they looked like distant clouds on the horizon and it looked pretty cool.

No idea, I haven't played TF2 in like, 2 years.
Like tf2 has now?
I don't recall TF2 having moving clouds. 2fort has non-functional clouds that *should* rotate but that's really the only thing that comes to mind.
A Tau weapon would fire special particles (Like the Tau cannon in HL1), A Gauss gun fires projectiles using magnets/electromagnets.

If done subtly, rotating cloud cards on the horizon can look great. Didn't Dear Esther have those as well? I think those maps are the best reference for moving clouds and other such effects - they're what inspired me to make my texture, after all.
