Rocket launchers don't have much recoil and force applied to them, since most modern ones are recoilless. All the force is ejected out the back.
I suppose so, but they look really thin when compared to the sturdier tube and grip.
Those rails that connect the tube to the grip part look really weak for a rocket launcher imho.
I think you're right. making them thicker will look better.
Fat-Corgi-Guy,what now?
That looks pretty awesome now! The only things I'd say to change now would be what Stiffy said about some brackets holding the wire, and also adding 1 more ring at the back, right where the back 'cone' molds into the tube, and connect the wire to it. Also I guess people seem to want no cap and just the inside of the barrel..
I suppose so, but they look really thin when compared to the sturdier tube and grip.
It's how they are on the original model: [t]http://images.wikia.com/half-life/en/images/1/1a/RPG_HL2_v.jpg[/t] That's why it's there on the new model.
need some kind of horizontal or diagonal support
Can you explain please?
Can you explain please?
I think he means like diagonal supports from each arch to the next, on the other axis. Right now, it looks like they would snap off or bend with just a couple shots.
Can you explain please?
uh, I don't frequent this thread so I'm not sure how anal the sticking-to-the-original thing is buut rocket launchers still have quite an impulse (as 'recoilless' as they are made out to be), those little stands look like they'd bend backwards quickly I was just suggesting a diagonal '\' support between each plate to give the guise of stability, but it'd clearly deviate from the source material also yeah, as suggested, clips every 20-30cm or so along the cable, pinning it up would add some decent detail you've already got a couple of places where it's clearly pinned up, and some of those are against a rib/ring around the tube - for those, just bring out a small part of the ring as if the cable was fed through it for the other places (where it seems pinned, but there's no ring), you could opt to add a ring or just a small bracket/clip

Where does the cable even go? It just reaches the end of the launcher & quits. What even is the box thing that the cable connects to, since the laser comes out near the pistol grip? The more I think about it the more I want to know what the hell the thought process was behind making it.

The cable powers the love Seriously though, I think that was meant to be the laser. Doesn't make any sense because the cup's in the way but whatever.
Ok,Thx
one last thing, you might want to push the grip back a bit so its more diagonal, ala the original worldmodel, since it kinda looks like your hand could be cramped I suppose a lot of surface detail is up to the texture? I'm no modeller or anything so not sure cable is there for the same reason the crossbow shoots red hot rebar because it looks cool
cable is there for the same reason the crossbow shoots red hot rebar because it looks cool
Yeah but speculating about realistic reasons behind strange design decisions is fun. Maybe the little red box has coolant or lubricant, and the cable distributes it down the length of the tube. I know fuck-all about rocket launchers, so I'm just speculating.

The cable would have so little touching surface that the coolant wouldn't even do anything... or you're implying that the coolant goes INSIDE the rocket launcher... anyway, that doesn't make sense. The cable/pipe is probably there for the lulz.

So what do you like? its done now?

Just an FYI, the new forum does not mean we won't stop posting here.
now we have a whole forum to shit up arguing about chromatic aberration

You should use SMF, but that's just my opinion. It's got a huge community behind it for themes and addons.
So what do you like? its done now?
It needs a hole in the front for the rockets to come out.
wow you guys should calm your shit when it comes to stuff in this thread like you were complaining about a cap really???
They may look like idiots, but you're Death_God.
So what do you like? Also one last suggestion, add a very light jibblebone to the wire? And I mean very light, so it won't flop around, but when you give a quick spin you'll notice?

Also i think you may have added a bit too many brackets. just my opinion though.
