Because the plastic has likely sagged with time or it isn't actually stiff, just tough/thick.

Is....is that the coast? What the heck did FF do to it??? It's even worse than adding a huge crappy bridge in the middle of that area. At least the version with that bridge maintained a little tiny bit of the original's style in that it wasn't a commercial shipping port. My gosh...that tiling...that's even more repetitive than the original HL2's coast textures, and why is there what looks like volcanic ash in there? My gosh...

I'm all for a port makeover, but this is not how I'd do it. At all. Those cranes are ugly and the dock doesn't make a lot of sense, plus the playable area doesn't work with the way he build the surrounding area.
Yeah, there's no consistency between the areas. You got these straight-out-of-Shanghai edge regions, designed to pile up thousands of containers easy peasy, and the Resistance is settled on this dingy-ass about-to-fall-apart dock designed to hold your grandpa's 50 year old motorboat.
Also don't forget that the immense amount of apartment blocks and complexes in the background are more or less supposed to be Ravenholm.

i dont even know why the pictures get posted to begin with either, we've already exhausted all of the things we could make fun of him with so why bother anymore, it's best to just talk about the mod (you know what the thread is for)
I like it and I think it's much closer to a real world scale. Docks are gigantic. Whether or not it fits HL2 is just a matter of opinion. But if HL2 were made today judging by Valve's more recent games they'd probably make all the areas a lot larger and more realistic just like that.

That AR2 looks like pure sex. Though I assume they'd have to be optimized for use in-game.
