Nope. Static props are entities, and the entity limit is 2048.
but they don't count toward that limit I don't think. Trust me, I've placed thousands of them :v
Is this less "sandy-looking"? [t]http://i.minus.com/iZxWiC43FyUF9.png[/t][t]http://i.minus.com/iPU51z9gWtVnd.png[/t][t]http://i.minus.com/iHB4dzeu6M55Q.png[/t]
much better. btw, just to know, is that texture scaled or is it covering a large area freely?
much better. btw, just to know, is that texture scaled or is it covering a large area freely?
It's scaled, leaving it unscaled even if it were a 2048 texture it's still blurry 'cause it's just acting like a 512 texture that covers more area.
Here you go, FOUR-THOUSAND STATIC PROPS. [t]http://i.imgur.com/wXW55Gs.jpg[/t] I'm getting errors because this is unoptimized, but yes, there is no cap on static props. the exact # is 4608, so that rules out 4096. Now maybe the entity limit is 8192, but it's not likely I'll be hitting that. EDIT: Apparently the limit IS 8192, then I hit MAX_MAP_ENTITIES so yeah, they do count toward the limit, but the limit is really high so it won't matter.
-snip-
Hmm, according to the Dev Wiki they actually don't count towards the limit, which for regular entities is 4096: 2048 networked and 2048 non-networked.
Would it be possible to make it so human enemies would on rare occasions fire off a couple of rounds on death? (I'm guessing also they'd need the guns to stay attached to the ragdoll's hand for a half a second to make it look good as well) Might spice up some enemy deaths a bit. Though obviously it'd be something that shouldn't happen often.
They'd need nice death animations before they did that imo :P

I remember shooting people and having their arms flair around wildly while they shot all their friends and then threw themselves over a railing. Good times.

SMOD: Crylife even got it to work with semi-auto weapons like the shotgun and a sniper rifle in the mod. And I know this is a bit off topic, but while we're here, does anyone have a fix for css files not mounting? It's the only game which still isn't mounting right post-VPK fix.
I feel like gun spraying deaths should be mostly Metropolice and Rebels. Combine Soldiers probably would be 'programmed' to avoid that in order to prevent friendly fire.
The idea reminds me of Quake 2.
I feel like gun spraying deaths should be mostly Metropolice and Rebels. Combine Soldiers probably would be 'programmed' to avoid that in order to prevent friendly fire.
Funny, I was thinking the opposite. I thought Rebels & Cops might be more inclined to care about the people they're shooting at & near, but the Soldiers might be 'programmed' to not care who's hurt or dies so long as their objective is met. Edit: I thought this was about friendly-fire in general. I overlooked the bit about having the weapons keep firing on death.
I feel like gun spraying deaths should be mostly Metropolice and Rebels. Still there's something pretty cool about killing a guy then seeing him drop his weapon after he lands. Maybe the combine soldiers could hold onto their weapons without shooting, while it might not be as cool as when a fully human enemy gets killed, it would still be a nice visual touch, and avoid the friendly fire issue, and we could still keep the spray for CPs/Rebels
I think adding in the SMOD thing where they hold their weapon while dying and sometimes hold the trigger and shoot would be the coolest thing ever.
I think adding in the SMOD thing where they hold their weapon while dying and sometimes hold the trigger and shoot would be the coolest thing ever.
ye, I think underhell uses that
if all textures will be kept scaled, how are you going to prevent visible tiling?
special $detailmaps, good texturework, and no brushwork that would display obvious tiling.
if all textures will be kept scaled, how are you going to prevent visible tiling?
Tiling isn't that hard to minimize by decent decal/overlay, brushwork, and model placement.
All this talk about people holding guns while dying and maybe shooting them reminded me of GTA IV. Which then reminded me how GTA V isn't on PC. :( Though it could be a cool feature, but it really should happen more seldom than not. It'd look silly if every third enemy you killed kept firing after they died.
I think adding in the SMOD thing where they hold their weapon while dying and sometimes hold the trigger and shoot would be the coolest thing ever.
just don't make it as common. the last time i played SMOD it seemed to happen all the time
I'd say it should be one in ten at most. Maybe have different versions for variety; one where it fires off 2 shots (finger spasms), and one where it empties the magazine.
I think it should be dependent on if the npc is firing it's weapon at the time of death & on headshots. If an npc goes straight from idle to dead it should never happen, but an alert npc might fire on death from bodyshots but not headshots, while an npc that's alert & firing it's weapon would have a chance of firing regardless of cause of death.
IMO they should almost always hold their weapon when they die, but not always fire. It's not like people drop their guns the moment they get shot all the time, and depending on the gun/how they are holding it, it could be harder or easier for them to drop.

I think the whole "fire after death" thing'd work best if it was bodyshot exclusive. A natural reflex to pain is to clench your fists and all. [sp]So it should also probably only be metrocops and rebels, since soldiers are probably more machine than man at this point.[/sp]
Sorry,I had a problem in HDD,but now its ok :)
2 Days, no new posts? Mod's dead, everybody go home. [sp]this is a joke[/sp]
Sometimes we made lots of contents, but sometimes we just busy on our own(Work, School, etc).
And I'm a little side tracked trying to get into modeling, rigging, and weighting atm, which in turn can benefit this mod, NMRiH, and whatever else I may end up doing in the future.
I've been too busy with school.
