I made a point not to call my sloppy face texture "HD" because its not (its 1024x512. same res as Alyx), I just wanted one that wasn't a low-res blurry mess and figured the folks with skill were too busy/not interested in such an old, flawed model. But you're right; I am being too self-critical about the whole thing to the point of ridiculous. Although I admit that while I know the new texture isn't good, I'm not quite sure why people think its so crappy. Back on topic: If the team is going to make its own Gordon head mesh, I wish you luck. He has a [I]very[/I] difficult face shape to get right (a surprisingly deep, protruding brow line and strong jaw line for instance) probably due to being made from a composite of Valve employees instead of one person. Most people also make him way too pale due to the low saturation style of the concept art when he is not really suppose to be. He also has a fairly distinct goatee that's hard to capture correctly.

Alright, here's an idea. Because no one here seems to be able to give Gordon a proper head, why not just do the HEV suit helmet?
Only if the helmet's soft on the sides & back, like how the HL1 model looked like a chemical hood. I'm just sick of how fan-made models are basically dirtbike helmets.
On the subject of the player model, I was under the impression all of the mod's assets would be created by the mod team, not borrowed from third parties?
Why do we need a face for the Gordon model in the first place? All you're going to see is his body, unless something's changed that I'm unaware of

Plus nothing feels than doing something then finding someone else has done it a better job.
In-mod we'd probably just use the HEV, but wouldn't you guys also like a head for that so we can have a high-res Gordon model for gmod/SFM?
Ah yes, to helmet, or not to helmet. The bane of the Half-Life community. Seeing as Gordon isn't one to shy away from submerging himself in radiation, I would have to say helmet.

Wouldn't it be weird if you looked into the water to see no head?
Well, since my converstaion-changer didn't work and we're discussing helmets anyway, I offer a compromise: No helmet, but throw on facepaint and hair dye to make it look similar.

Helmet is reason why I never could really feel close to Chief from Halo. No one's saying the helmet glass HAS to be opaque though (I know that the glass on that picture opaque is but if you REALLY want to be able see his face in reflection that much, this option might be the best)
