To be fair, none of the Half-Life 2 art shows him with a helmet.
Art isn't quite representative of the actual game, though. You can't get choked by a barnacle, and it also doesn't depict Gordon trudging through radioactive waste.
Not saying he should or shouldn't have a helmet, but it makes more sense to preview your hero with a face by showing his face
Nobody mispelled Gordon for Gorden or Gordan?? How is this possible FP?
maybe because we're not spergs

Well to be honest, wearing a helmet like that might be why Gordon's so silent.

Thanks.
I bet theres a pony tail behind his head.

While I genuinely do believe Gordon wears a helmet, I can't see Alyx falling in love with him if she doesn't even hear him speak, let alone can't see his face.

Maybe its because he's ~dark_and_mysterious~

She sees his face when she saves him at the start of HL2. When he's still in citizen clothes but somehow has a crosshair cracked into his glasses.

Plus we're readily willing to discard art when it comes to skin tone, but not to helmet?
Most people also make him way too pale due to the low saturation style of the concept art when he is not really suppose to be.
You know we really shouldn't worry bout a head too much. I mean you'll only see it in reflections, of which aren't that often in half life (excluding water hazard)
Well if he's not gonna wear a helmet then he'd better be a ginger with a pony tail like he was in hl1
Well if he's not gonna wear a helmet then he'd better be a ginger with a pony tail like he was in hl1
since when was he ginger
since when was he ginger
EDIT: nevermind they broke the video insert system again
Was just the Doctor saying "still not ginger!" anyway
talking about textures, I think this tool might come in handy for the different surfaces previews

What if there was a "personalization" tab under the options menu in which you could toggle the helmet and its respective HUD overlays on and off, a la Republic Commando? You could throw other stuff in there too if it matters, like model designs or sounds or anything else that's debatable.

I say we get all the mod working, then throw in all the special effects, then have options for all of them.
I'd support a helmet toggle but not all the other fancy stuff that Chonch mentioned.

Model designs should probably only appear in MP.
plz make gordon black tia
if u dont make gordons skin rainbow than u r homophobic
Guys if we have to discuss a helmet, keep this in mind: You never see a helmet with the HEV Suit in Half Life 1 or 2. And the player model for Half Life 1 displays him helmet-less. The only time you're made aware an HEV Helmet exists is on Xen. How can he have a helmet if he was never, ever given one?
Nonetheless, if you're hell-bent on adding a helmet, at least put one in Kleiner's Lab for him to pick up
Or even make it a toggle-able option if it can be/is going to be added into the mod
We're not adding a helmet, and the head would just be for a model for gmod or sfm or something if we added one.
If I'm not wrong according to The Cutting Room Floor, the Helmet model was used on Gordon, Gina and the scientists to hide the fact they're humans. (Damn Germany)
You should really put a "no helmet" guideline in the rules in all caps, bolded and in red
We're not adding a helmet, and the head would just be for a model for gmod or sfm or something if we added one.
but what about the parts where you would see his reflections? since it's full-body awareness id imagine his reflection would show up on things like water
Ignore player reflections I guess.
What does everyone think of adding a range to weapons? (i.e. bullets are more deadly at different ranges)
What does everyone think of adding a range to weapons? (i.e. bullets are more deadly at different ranges)
I thought everyone just stands in front of enemies and empties the SMG into their face, so does it really matter?
