Pffff, you people and your ass-backwards PCs.

Aww crap, i think i accidentally fucked up this thread. Let me reboot it. It'll take a second.
EDIT:
There, we should be in the right time.

No, it's the Fuhrer. At least he looks like him.

I was thinking about saying that, as my first thought when seeing that hairstyle was: that looks just like Hitler.
But me being a German, I am a bit cautious about that. (wait, where did FakeFactory come from again? :S seriously, that's some really twisted humor by FF)
talking about fakefactory is ok now?
i almost thought this was the half-life discussion due to all the irrelevant posts :v:

It can't be that bad, my Ma's German too. The Holocaust was around 70 years ago and the Nazis lost, all we can do now is hope no more of 'em come around and we can have discussions about it... But maybe not right now.
Though, WWII is interesting to me even in media. Wolfenstein comes to my mind.
The first time I played half life, was half life 2 in xbox, those were simpler days when I just played a game as it was, didn´t care about what could be improved, I even praised the game as perfect, just loved playing it, then got hl2 and hl1 for pc and saw all the modding and things that could get done for it, and now here I am.
Just wanted to mention the pc and first xbox version have some slight differences, in xbox, the main menu has as background the image of a combine wall from below with grey clouds and fog, and has a cinematic of the gameplay at the startup if you don´t move anything for a while.
Some things are different in the maps too, all I can remember is that in route kanal, at the part in which you go to a sewer full of manhacks to turn a crank and flood it to get out, the catwalks are not destroyed at all.

You could also see a teaser for Left 4 Dead, man... At least if you waited long enough and had patience.
At this point I could care less about HL3.
are you being cheeky about still caring about HL3
or did you actually mean to say couldn't?
I know the thing about songs & map transitions has been mentioned plenty of times before, but one thing that's always bugged me is that pausing the game doesn't pause all sounds & music. Looping sounds just seem to keep going & it can get very irritating very quickly if you're trying to do something else.

I believe that was in the 360 version of The Orange Box. The xbox HUEG version was released in 2005, I'm fairly sure L4D didn't have any trailers back then

I remember the original xxbox version. I don't know why I bought it when I already had the PC version.
I also rented the orange box to see how it played. This was before valve added the 360 controller options to the PC version.
The 360 version had animated backgrounds but they were video files like the backgrounds in L4D

I think you´re talking about the xbox 360 version, I was talking about the early xbox, the first one back in 2004-2005
This looks better

I know there's quite a few bugs involving looping sounds and stuff in Source games. That might be part of the problem.

Nah, that's just because the game doesn't actually stop when you pause, it just sets the time scale to zero and puts a vgui panel over the screen. And sound isn't affected by the time scale, so whatever sounds were playing when paused keep playing until told to stop. Which is never, because, well, the time scale is zero.

not using the pause command?
not using the pause command?
That IS the pause command.

Note: this was fixed in recent versions of the engine. Portal 2 for sure (I think because timescale now also affects sounds - try host_timescale 0.5 to see what I mean) and SDK 2013 games maaaybe (though I think it would be pretty easy to implement in a mod)

Too late, there's already a genocide going on against the Palestinians.
That took a dark turn.

This guy seems to have made trains in Source look totally badass and realistic: http://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1250104&p=42939421&viewfull=1#post42939421
You only ride a train briefly in HL2 but if it's easy to implement, and the train ride is made longer like people were talking about, it might be worth it.
As nicely as that was done, I'd hate for the train ride to be made longer. Valve learned from their mistake in HL1, with its pointlessly long tram ride.

I'm pretty sure the train ride isn't as long as it was in HL1, just an extra glimpse at some of the city and it's nowhere near as slow as the tram was (until it slows down a lot prior to entering the station)

No one agrees with anything you say.

No.

you could say we DONOTWANT your advice
The tram ride was awesome, and set a pretty good tone for the whole game

Ah... Then yes, it is a problem.

Someone made that pun months ago.
Still hilarious.
