Engine fixes are already pretty much done thanks to Ken, and the mod isn't dead we just don't have much time and/or (at least for me, motivation). Also it's incredibly hard to organize a team of people that all have their own busy schedules and things that take priority over mod work. I'm hoping very soon here some of us can just sit down and work together on one part of the game, and try to complete that.
When we hopefully get the bulk if not most of it done, then we could always do another pass if we feel like it and add in some details and interactions we may not have been able to do previously. That stuff is more an outer shell plan, we need to finish the inner core before moving out each layer. Extra voices and languages I think is somewhere in the middle, on one hand it will greatly benifit the atmosphere of city 17, on the other we don't want to get just anyone that can do impersonations and end up with cheesy voice acting (I'm looking at you Black Mesa), rather try and find people that can really act. Yes it's quite optimistic but there are those people out there, and I know of some people already that would probably be interested that are quite good in the area of voice acting.
I just ask you guys to please be patient with us, and know that I will try my best not to let this mod go down the tube. But we are severely lacking in people for some areas, models mostly, as our modelers hardly have the time to work on things with their times.
Sorry for contradicting but what was the problem with BM voice acting? I thought the talent they had was actually pretty good, and it didn't detract from the quality of the game.

Eli's voice was garbage.
A profitless ragtag group of devs scattered across the planet are supposed to all have Robert Guillaume on call?
There was Kevin Sisk trying to bend over blackwards, and there were the HECU, which were just okay in the grandest scheme of things. Most of the time you're hearing the scientists and Guards, which were very fucking well done in my and most people's opinion. One bad character doesn't mean "HURR DURR EVERYTHING IS BAD"
But I guess that's exactly what it means in the overly dramatic twisted mind of the entitled modern gamer.
You want unacceptable voice acting? Play Crysis 2. Play the first three Killzone games.
Corgi, you're gonna have to pull off something near miraculous out of your ass after that remark. All eyes are on you. If you want to be judged on Black Mesa tier criteria then, whelp. I really can't wait to see what the finished product is gonna look like now.

He merely commented on Black Mesa's mediocre voice acting, and he's stated before he didn't like Black Mesa as much as most of us do (I personally loved the fuck out of BM); which is perfectly fine.
Each person's opinions and tastes bring something to their work, and the team.
Tbh I needed an excuse to use "bend over blackwards"
Black Mesa's voice acting wasn't bad imo. Scientists, VOX, Girl VOX, and Guards were the best, Female Scientists and Kleiner were decent, Young Marines were decent. Eli was kinda bad, but not the worst. Hgrunts were the worst.

I think one voice that should be redone is "Matt", the black guy you who tells you the entire police force is riled up, and then he fights Manhacks with a pipe.
I think it should be changed because he acts too clueless, and it's weird. I mean, he looks you in the eye and says "Be glad you're not the guy they're looking for", while you're standing there in full HEV with an SMG. Yeah, definitely not the guy...
Instead he should probably comment on your suit and/or assume you're the one they're after, then comment about how the entire city police are after you.

That's a whole personality you're talking about changing? Maybe he is just really clueless?
We complain about an SMG sight and not about changing a whole personality(unless ofc it's just that nobody's checked the thread in the past three hours), wow.
Maybe he actually is just clueless and assumes you were just protecting yourself?
Think about it, you live in a gutter helping direct people on their way out of the city. Then one day, Civil Protection goes batshit and starts raiding the underground like no tomorrow, mobilizing armies of Metropolice and sending in swarms of Manhacks. And while this is happening, some guy just steps in wearing a full suit of reactive armour, in orange-yellow with a Lambda on it (resistance colours, sign), and carrying a gun, something uncommon in the city outside of CP units. Would your first though not be "Hey, this must be the guy they're tearing apart the entire underground to find!"?

Oh you changed the quote. Anyway, I always thought it was a developer oversight. He's one of the only guys who doesn't know who you are, but he should at least recognise the fact that you're wearing a full suit of armour and carrying a gun, that's not usual. It's weird that he just goes "you're not the guy they're looking for" while you're standing there in the best gear in the entire resistance arsenal!

Except rebels have stolen CP gear and many are CP defects so he's probably see equally well equipped people running though of all varieties.
He probably just simply doesn't give a shit about him having an orange suit. Also he's been crawling through sewers, vents, mud, blood and all kinds of other nasty stuff, it probably isn't all that orange by the time he meets Matt.
Man, I wish Black Mesa could get an engine update like Synergy recently got so I could play it again..., without much worry about glitches or bugs in Source Engine 14 that is from 2007.

They are updating it to portal 2 engine, but valve is letting them sell it. You can still get the 2007 mod for free.

You do know they're updating the free one to the 2013 SDK right?

Yeah, I felt the first one really rude sounding after reading it.
Anyway, what I'm saying is that specific guy might have a really below-average intelligence. We don't know for sure. We could always email somebody at Valve and hope

Maybe he drank some of that water with chemicals in them before anyone could warn him and forgot a lot. Who knows?

Sounds good enough, but I have to ask how they'd put falling damage back for the Portal 2 engine considering The Stanley Parable's falling deaths are scripted. (Stanley actually wears Advanced Knee Replacement, but doesn't somersault and the Narrator declares him dead..., probably because the anti-falldamage devices are dysfunctional or only work when the Narrator wants them to)

I doubt just because it's Portal 2 and TSP only had scripted deaths doesn't mean the falldamage code is completely removed. It's most likely just toggled off in a section of the source code

It would actually be a bit redundant (and a pain in the ass) to try to remove that out of the code entirely. So your probably right.

That means we'll need mods in case of Portal 2: Deathmatch, like a powerup that adds immunity to leg-fractures.
..You can check the code and surprise me when it does turn out it's simply disabled, maybe a possibility for upcoming DLC Test Courses where you are not allowed to hit the floor! (But why would Chell ever want to take her boots off?)
If Chell's out of the picture, there must be at least something else happening after GLaDOS raises the birdies to become her own "killing machines".

It's literally a materials folder with "praticles" taped onto it.
Think I wouldn't notice?!

It's fixed now.
It'd be great to port those shaders into our mod, hopefully working, half-dead did give us "ports" of them but 1 wasn't fully implemented right and 1 was completely broken if I remember.

They are all source 2007 shaders, so you'd need to change the vertex format on them.
Hey everyone on the dev team, I've had to switch servers, so the IP has changed again.
Check Corgi should have posted the new information in the SVN thread on the official forums; if not ask me on steam for the information.
Basically though, you just need to run the relocate command in SVN and put the new url in its place.

On a slightly related note have I done something wrong on the forums? Because everything is in Italian.
