But with a very light fog cover you would be able to at least partially see it.
I don't consider being unable to see land around maybe a football field and a quarter away light.
Okay, so despite my totally non-progress with making ANY textures, I'd kindly do a website for you guys. I want to contribute, so, there's that.

I remember someone a while back posting some website mockups.
Yeah, it was RaTcHeT302:

I forget if we said this, but will the original jeep phys be used, or the 2010 new phys?
I forget if we said this, but will the original jeep phys be used, or the 2010 new phys?
Isn't the new one just like, the Jalopy with the jeep model?
I'd place my vote for 2004's Jeep if my memory serves me right on this.

2010 is messed up. Not that 2004 was good in the first place but at least it wasn't unreasonable.
2010's is slower. I can tell because racing the train on the bridge randomly became 10x harder after that update.

Yup, I just drive forwards now until I hear the train coming then turbo backwards off the tracks to wait for it to go by. :v:

I don't understand how they managed to screw up so badly that the speed is lower and it spins out way more easily.

Just look at every car mod made for Gmod. Cannot wait for VCMod so all the handling problems go away.
Yeah, the jeep control is made even worse due to the fact you already rode on the very well controlling airboat, making the jeeps flaws even MORE apparent.

You can turbo backwards? Also, I suppose we'll be using neither, would be very easy to experiment different settings with this kind of thing.

if something like that were to happen in game like that I would be like NOPE I'm out
Surprisingly enough, you actually turbo faster backwards rather than forward for some reason.
Whenever I try to beat the razor train now my jeep always blasts away and I die, I can't get quite fast enough.
Have you guys considered using Google Streetview for architectural reference? Lots of the places City 17 is based on have been mapped, and it could be useful.
This train talk got me thinking, does anyone else here think it would be a good idea to have a small rumble animation on the train cars, so they actually look like their moving along metal tracks as opposed to gliding across the ground like a stick of butter across the hood of a car in the middle of summer?
[t]http://cloud-3.steampowered.com/ugc/559815280056976534/7AD10C6FA7EFB38A591977A9863FAA5F906D0ED8/[/t]
I'd imagine that train would have "move bitch, get out the way" blasting from it as it sped along the tracks plowing everything out of its way.
I know a little movement exploit in all source games apparently, if you move forward while also straffing into a wall, you can move slighlty faster. very usefull when you´re crouching in a vent, it´s like you´re twice as fast.

i remember using that in one of those maps in TFC where you're a civilian and you have to go through all the puzzles and stuff. One like k_thegame (i always crashed on this one) and colonyx_R

I always found something unsettling about the Razor Train, and you just made me realise what it is. It doesn't rock or vibrate despite it's size and speed, it's unnatural. BUT considering it is the Razor Train, I think I'd prefer it that way, it's supposed to feel unsettling.
[editline]3rd March 2014[/editline]
Animated wheels would be nice though, and perhaps some attention to detail so that the wheels are actually on the tracks :v:
someone should re-make the razor train horn to make it sound more horrifying :v:
Remaking Half-Life 2 comes with the added difficulty of trying to differentiate between mistakes and decisions, it seems.

And, in the case of decisions, whether these decisions still apply nowadays (technical limitations etc.).
well that's when you reach out to valve and ask them stuff. I remember people in the thread doing this occasionally with the lead writer (am i right?) marc laidlaw. he always gave helpful information
I feel that giving the players the option to pimp up the jeep with various props would warrant enough reason to replay HL2 again,
it'll also make gravity gun useful again since the ravenholm chapter

Go play GMod.
The leak Buggy looks quite good too, with those panels to protect.
When talking about making cars and trains better looking and stuff, don't forget about that zombie chomper cart at the end of mines after Ravenholm. Right now it looks like metalic block hovering few inches above the ground going up and down, defintely not like something that could Grigori made himself.

Damn, I almost forgot about that project. I've been meaning to finish and upload replacement versions for Hl2 and Ep2.
