Long before the dawn of man, there lived an tribe of sentient ape-like beings that struggled against nature to survive. The storms came and drove them out of their homeland, to make a pilgrimage to somewhere they might see sun again. But before he left, the village scribe made a painstakingly crafted story of his people. From their creation by the gods to their upcoming departure, he documented thousands of years through pictographs and hieroglyphs. The scribe was proud of his work, and left a blank space on the wall for his descendants, who would no doubt reclaim this land.
Millenia later, modern archaeologists uncovered this masterpiece. What was a little disconcerting was the blank space on this wall, filled with these letters:
"tl;dr
faggot"
Well, looks like somebody wanted to also have tacticool rebels

Why on earth are these Russians soldiers wearing the bandits faction insignia from Stalker games ?
(Knowing that City 17 is suspected to be located in Ukraine also make this submission sounds rather funny and inappropriate at the same time)

Godspeed.

For the last fucking time City 17 is not a real goddamn city.
Also, I find it funny that you ask about the insignia, but not the fact that they have gas masks (hell, bad ones) and nightvision and how their hands are all sorts of broken.
Besides, the Stalker insignias are cool and all, and I can't understand how, even if City 17 was in Ukraine, it somehow makes it inappropriate.
Just ignore this post, I didn´t say anything worthwhile
The issue is the sheer amount of textures in total (Sure, you could break it down into sets, but even then). And the various stretches of textures that are done (Like, usually a bunch in each texture folder - but not all)
I dunno' about Corgi, but if he wants to get someone on the team that just sifts through the SVN and makes bug tracker or Spreadsheet entries: It might work.
I could make a specialized bug tracker just for resources (super webdev skillz) if you guys wanted.
Is it only me those russian soldiers make C17 feels like Ukraine?

I think some of the rebels could have camo jackets or pants like what we saw in Kiev, but only a rare few. Most should be in salvaged civilian attire, representing their defiance to the Combine's regulations.

I'm no expert but I think they look fantastic. The tiles are just godlike. I can't stop looking at them.
Oh god I just realized that the chainlink fences are so bad.
Well they always fit the general level of detail with the rest of the environment. That's also the reason I don't like using ~supra ultra high res~ custom textures, because they look out of place and everything else looks worse.

If possible you should add a bit of specularity to that concrete, would help it not look so matte.

Only if they don't fuck it up as badly as they did with Half-Life: Source.
I only got that and CSS because it came with the collectors edition.

I can/would but I'm waiting until we can get something other than cubemaps to use for specularity as in HL2 it's pretty much the only shiny areas are in the shadows which makes no sense and looks like crap. It has a specular map all set up in it already, just waiting to see if we can get phong or something similar implemented for brushes.
For the last fucking time City 17 is not a real goddamn city.
Then I guess it's a good thing I never said that City 17 was in any way a real city ! What I've said is that City 17 is highly suspected to have been build after the Black Mesa disaster in Ukraine or Bulgaria, but don't trust me, trust the corresponding Wikia page filled with proper sources. And so, in my humble opinion, this possibility coupled with the actual situation in Ukraine creates a rather funny but kind of innapropriate coincidence since today's Russian soldiers models are already quite out of place in HL2. It's a simple amused observation, man. You don't need to be rude about it.
And for the rest I've noticed the Nightvision, soviet gasmask and hands models which are completely ripped from Metro 2033 and last light, dont worry. But these assets where part of Russian soldiers models in the original games so it already looks less odd than Stalker's Bandits insignia on their vest.
Anyway:
About that. The good news is that I've finally found what was the name of the paper version of this sign.
The bad news is that I have mixed feelings about the result right now:

In the Wiki this gives:
Secondly, City 17's country borders the sea. And in fact, there are only three countries that both use Cyrillic and are not landlocked: Russia, Ukraine, and Bulgaria. However, it is possible that City 17 itself lies on the outskirts of one of these countries, and the entire game takes place throughout the three, if not all over eastern Europe.
But I don't think it is worthwhile to continue on that subject. I was just was bringing a precision.

I don't like that white smudge you added. It's a lower quality than the rest of the texture and looks plain weird.
I don't like that white smudge you added. (It also makes too obvious the fact that this single texture is repeated throughout the entire game)
that is fantastic, those tiles are awesome, although there seem to be some slight misaligtments, just a little nitpick
I think that is supposed to be intentional.
Whenif I ever get to play this, I'm going to be too distracted by all the amazing new aesthetic features to do anything :v:
Retexturing low poly models with a much higher texture quality makes it feel really out of place
That's why I've made it in 1024². (Which is not a day-night resolution difference compared to the original texture by the way) The fact that all the others textures displayed around are in low resolution isn't helping too.

I think both new and old textures should be put side by side (not on the model) and it would be better for comparisons
