I know this is probably quite difficult to achieve, but you could have all the weapons get dirtier as the game progresses.
They could use the same technique Black Mesa used for the blood, with dirt/scratch of course.

Black Mesa spoiled me with grabbable dead headcrabs. Now whenever I play another game and kill a headcrab and I try to throw it off a bridge or something, I'm met with disappointment in my inability to do so.

In HL2 and Episode 1 the Combine were originally clean. Shotgunners also had a different model.
Since the OB update now they're dirty because they were made dirty in EP2 since they were running through the Outlands.
So will you guys be making idle animations for weapons HL1 style?

I don't think it was really meant to be a shiny metal front half. It was only ever like that on the world model for the SMG1, and it always looked like they just messed up the specular and cubemaps. I could make it metallic if enough people want me to though.

The blur on the image behind the text might be a bit overdone. Also the shadow might be too large. You can always use an outer glow.

I'd like to have that with blood, probably just with the crowbar though. But make it more like the stuff in L4D2, the stuff in black mesa looks like big chunky horribly masked blobs of shit.

Like all weapons, we tend to do use the viewmodel as a base not the worldmodel. If we were to do that everything would look rather bad. The two tones is really unnecesary, since the worldmodel for the smg is literally one of the worst models in the game, texture and model wise.

My plan is to go by the original model, most of all the view model, because those are always better than the world models.

as the way the texture is done even on the world model it doesn't look metallic, it's just the cube map that was probably messed up that's being put over it makes it look metallic.

I realise you used the viewmodel, and I'm okay with that. But you also used the MP7 as a base for the texture, so it looks very MP7ish, moreso than the viewmodel.
I think the metallic look on the world model is nice. Besides, bugs aren't always a bad thing, the Helicopter Boss in HL2 was originally a bug, so was the Dumpster Zombie in EP2 (it was a dumpster full of boxes, but a phys bug caused them to spas out, and playtesters would think something was in there and throw a grenade into it).

Regarding the AR2, I had an idea. The ammo drum that holds the three "charges" looks like it's meant to detatch. You could make it possible to carry multiple drums and change them when the charges run out. That's give a purpose to the world reload animation, but it might be a bigger core change than you guys want to make. This may have already been mentioned but I didnt see it
Perhaps remove the drum then play the default reload animation, but faster so that it isn't stupidly long?
