an animation for falling down is a useless gimmick and takes you out of control of your character for a second letting ai shooting the shit out of you while you are unable to do nothing.
swimming like it's done in gmod would be okay though.
Well, maybe that is a good consequence of falling too high. Morale: Don't fall from a high place

The Cinematic Mod (why do I have to bring that up, again...???) has some high-res retexturing for Cubbage, at your service.
so I just did a quick test with bodygroups:
[t]http://puu.sh/7KZvY.png[/t]
I was thinking this along with edited/remade textures for the prop vehicles (to be paintable perhaps?) would be an amazing addition to this mod and allow a lot of variance at very little cost.
now this in particular is a pretty rough test, still a lot of small mesh tweaks needed but it gets my point across.
You can use $blendtintbybasealpha 1, since is available for the ASW engine and newer: https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/$blendtintbybasealpha
With that, you could have all the colours that allows you the RGB, by only using one texture. This way is used in the cars on the L4D games, for example.
Swimming animation doesn't seem like a gimmick to me since weapons don't shoot underwater anyway.
The vehicle entering I would call half-animation since there's no body it's just the camera floating into the vehicle.
I disagree about the falling being useless. You have to be some superhuman to stand perfectly still from falling off
a very high place. The falling animation should only play when you take fall damage. But this is all my opinion.
I did not say useless, I said it changes the gameplay, which is not a good idea.
I hate phones and auto-correct.

Fuck yes, Mad-Life 2

They are changing the gameplay though.
Remember there's still models and textures you can pull from the beta if you want, they were generally higher texture / poly than HL2's.

Maybe that's what I should do to contribute, go through the beta files looking for suitable models and replacements :v:
Does Valve care about pulling things from Beta? I forget these matters because I don't hang around Beta mods anymore.

Falling animation really doesn't change gameplay, I gotta say. It just makes it look nicer.

As long as you don't pull beta code etc, it's fine. But this mod will apparently be on steam as well, which means beta content can't be used.

It actually does when you think about it though. Unless it's absolutely mental heights which would probably kill the player anyway, you can always shoot right after you land keeping the pace as it is. I don't, myself, like the idea of the animation because HL2 has always been about sorta fast-paced shooting and things like an animation in between do actually slow the pace by quite a lot.
IF you wanted to add falling animations, the way Mirror's Edge does it would be perfect, just without the loud buzzing

You could use it as a replacement for the scripted fade to black we have now, when you fall off a cliff in the coast levels
I thought this was a game, it dosent have to be real life replicated.

If the falling animation was for that, then I would be fine with it since it wouldn't slow down the pace.
Also I sorta like the loud buzzing. It's like "SHIT IS GOING DOWN OH MAN SHIT IS SO GOING D---"
Sup folks, I've had no internet for about two and a half weeks. Somebody fill me in with what's been going on. :v:

Good progress and Steam going down like nuts.

You act like it didn't work in L4D.
You act like it didn't work in L4D.
L4D and HL2 are two very differents games.
i like it how if you fall in half life and once you hit the ground you instantly die, i loved that, cuz it felt real and scary to just die instead of extra sound or anything, just death noise then black lol :)

Also it was helpful for when you tried to play as fast as you can (I don't say speedrun because I never tried to record it) because you didn't have to wait for an elaborate death animation to finish in order to click and reload the last save ...
BTW, are you going to bring back that "jump on an object that you hold in your hands" flying trick from 2004? That one's probably the reason why I have more playtime on my cracked copy from 2004 than on my Steam copy because it's been fixed for ages now ...

It's not like you can just make the animation interuptable
not at all
Do you think it would be a cool idea if we added an ATV to the Docks; and allowed the player to choose between the ATV and the Buggy?
Valve originally intended have an ATV instead of the Buggy in the development stages of HL2. Sadly, I have the sounds Valve produced for it, but there was no model or textures made as it was probably scrapped early in development.
There was also a jet ski model made (which I also have) but no textures because there were too many technical limitations at the time to implement it in the game

I think it would be better to just have his knees give a little. When you jump from even five feet, you bend your knees a bit when you land. Seems to make more sense then his legs being siff as a board and shattering completely

the screen leans a little, but leans allot the higher you fall from

But for FBA animations I mean

Apparently this would change gameplay too much for whatever reason.

And what sort of sense would THAT make then?
i hope this game has a bunch of extra stuff and extra content, that stuff makes me happy in games and re-done games :)
