I wanted to work on a new flamable barrels texture so here it is: [T]http://img11.hostingpics.net/pics/2052692014040200013.jpg[/T] [T]http://img11.hostingpics.net/pics/2960912014040200020.jpg[/T] (Still using the vanilla normal for now, but I'll probably make a new one once the base texture will be finished.)
[T]http://img11.hostingpics.net/pics/2052692014040200013.jpg[/T]
It looks nice. I don't have any critiques, but I'm sure others do. Someone made a higher quality model for the barrel, but I don't think it was released?

Makes the model look bad though :S
barrels
Try removing the $detail texture that's applied to it in the VMT, or else make a better one. The default $detail textures valve made just....suck.

Those commenters there seem like the kind of people that would prefer fakefactory´s cinematic mod, ugh.

what's the point of the chromatic abberation in that UE render why the fuck do developers think chromatic abberation is "next-gen"?
what's the point of the chromatic abberation in that UE render why the fuck do developers think chromatic abberation is "next-gen"?
That is indeed a valid question ... Even though I didn't notice it before you said it (in which case, why bother using that effect?) I am also shocked having just found out that Unreal Engine 4 no longer includes that voxel cone tracing stuff ... which was sort of the one thing I was looking forward to seeing games utilize :(
what's the point of the chromatic abberation in that UE render why the fuck do developers think chromatic abberation is "next-gen"?
it's because in camera lenses chromatic abbreation is a thing but not as bad as in those pictures (and new cameras are designed to make sure you can't notice it too). the only way to get games to look photorealistic (other than making higher quality assets) is to duplicate cameras lense quality instead of.. human eye lense quality.. because that's harder (and would only work well for vr). not that i agree with chromatic abberation, but i can understand why people want to use it, it's a style.
If that's in the mod then I would buy it for a full 50 euros if I could, because I mean; that looks incredible.
it's UE3 not source.
Does anybody think the player should be allowed to kill friendly NPCs (not counting story or major scripted characters) if they don't want any assistance?
Does anybody think the player should be allowed to kill friendly NPCs (not counting story or major scripted characters) if they don't want any assistance?
Why?
Does anybody think the player should be allowed to kill friendly NPCs (not counting story or major scripted characters) if they don't want any assistance?
I thought you could and if you killed too many they turn on you. :v:
Why?
RELOAD DR. FREEMAN I'M GOING TO STAND IN YOUR WAY NOW, DR. FREEMAN. Just make it a toggleable option/console command and I'll be happy like really. It's a personal preference thing. If an NPC pisses me off one way or another, I don't care for them living anymore because they're just an NPC that wasn't going to do much to help me anyway minus medics. [editline]2nd April 2014[/editline]
I thought you could and if you killed too many they turn on you. :v:
They're literally invincible(to you), so I don't think so.
They're literally invincible(to you), so I don't think so.
I'm pretty damn sure you could at one point... They shout at you saying you're a traitor and shit. That is, until you meet the next group of rebels who don't know what you did. Yet. It's irrelevant anywho.

We already had a discussion on friendly fire; the general consensus was no.
RELOAD DR. FREEMAN because they're just an NPC that wasn't going to do much to help me anyway minus medics.
Expect for the parts where you need more than one gun
no friendly fire pls, you´re supposed to be the hero
You can crush friendlies into walls with the dune buggy. Other friendlies don't react to it, which makes it pretty funny.
no friendly fire pls, you´re supposed to be the hero
well kinda yes an no on this one. the whole thing about half life is that it's not supposed to portray gordon freeman as anything but what the player dictates. if the player wants to be some sort of anti-hero, why stop them? especially since in this case it's as easy as making a cvar. not to mention half-life (or at least, half-life: source) has teamkilling.

I think what would be extremely interesting is an open world HL2 game, with two other cities. Make it a game like Just Cause 2 without the silly physics and have it like source. Vehicles, NPCs that do generic stuff, cause havoc if you decide to. It would genuinely be fun, a bit like GTA combined with Half-Life 2.

There's a reason very few game campaigns are considered halfway decent anymore, you know.

I mean shit they could make it off by default or something, just because you don't want it doesn't mean it's a bad idea. especially if it's such little work and it's optional :v:
or that mutator userscript thing idea that is just a mutator.
I admit I´m too moral, I avoided killing innocents even in games like gta. But hl2 is not the place to have the players killing friendlies for no reason, it ain´t black mesa were there weren´t really witnesses that could go out and tell the world that this man killed co-workers.
