That was before the thumpers were disabled. So you'd basically get there and be insta-stalkered.

how cool that would be to do that for real as like a little easteregg and stalkers and combine and turrets kill you instantly
Also there's an odd glitch regarding the first climbing puzzle with the boxes. On the first map, you can throw all the boxes out of the window - but you can still progress as one of them respawns near the window. However, when the map changes to the second map, if you get back up there and throw the box out, it doesn't respawn.

I think we can label that as 'Unwinnable by Insanity'
I think we can label that as 'Unwinnable by Insanity'
Yeah, it's akin to shooting all your ammo into the wall right before the NP defense mission.
keep that in but make the train usable with a level change on use to nova prospekt
I really like the idea of eastereggs like this, and I'm not sure why.
Turn exploits and glitches, that don't really affect the game unless you make the choice to do them (the glitches that you have to know about to do, such as this), into eastereggs.

Or something like that.

Or put him on a train, and allow him to escape via picking up a weapon and shooting a guard, but unlikely, this is a high-security prison.
Fade out and teleport him to the combine pod riding scene.
hm... that easter egg of boarding the nova prospekt train would be pretty funny, it would be just like the life or death choice at the end of hl1 where you could work for gman and thus be in hl2, or refuse and be killed by an army of aliens.

Man, did you at first think you broke the map? (Heh, I got that from The Stanley Parable)
I sometimes don´t trust a game´s stability so I tend to not rush into things or block the path of npcs
I sometimes don´t trust a game´s stability so I tend to not rush into things or block the path of npcs
Yeah, but if you're playing it for the umpteenth time, you sometimes want to test the limits of the games for fun (especially if you have such useful things as quick save/load at your disposal :D)

jeje, in games like stalker shadow of chernobyl, if you load a game near npcs, there is a chance of breaking their ai.
Based on this box stacking feedback I vote we remove boxes from the game for a better Half-Life 2 storytelling experience.
the last video has always been a way to bypass the whole section

You can do that with 1 pistol shot too.
so I went to the fakefactory website just to see how bad it was, and the first thing I see

definitely getting this enhancement mod rather than fakefactory

everyone knows that glitch, but is just so useful for speedrunning, that patching it will just make people angry.
You can do that with 1 pistol shot too.
Doesn't it take 2 to start the fire, three to fully explode if you don't let it do it on its own?
Also, been doing some bug searching in Vanilla Half-Life 2. I didn't find much, but still:
[t]http://cloud-2.steampowered.com/ugc/794065437473800401/8AE10D80A3B5A55BDFAF5B885653411B8BABABE3/[/t]
No idea how I did it, but somehow I collided into a scanner and cosplayed Apollo 11 (you can also be sent flying if a metrocop uses his stunstick on you while you're standing on a box/crate/dumpster)
[t]http://cloud-2.steampowered.com/ugc/794065437499252325/48263D4A751DB7F4EF9BDCF84A477212337A3274/[/t]
You can pretty much prevent being hit by holding a prop between you and the metrocops at the start

By using my tiresome method of stacking boxes, you can see where some parts of the map 'leak'

that isn't really a bug, if you threw a grenade up there and blew up the barrel that does of course that would happen
hell, you could shoot it a few times with the pistol and to the same thing.
Also don't remove it. I love shit like that.
That's one of those things I was talking about that should be left in. The barrels are mostly out of sight and no newer person would think of doing that.
I suppose since we're on the topic of bypassing areas, I should bring this up. I wanted to mention this way back in that one Half Life shortcuts thread that existed once, but I never got around to it.
I discovered this while attempting to carry DOG's Ball with me as far as I could (which is something I hope you guys don't fix). I believe this is during the Sandtraps chapter, it's the part where you finally reach the last stop with your buggy and need to help the rebels fight off a combine assault before you can continue. Now I'm certain quite a few curious Half Life players have looked over the edge of the cliff by the rebel lighthouse and taken notice of the very obvious path below. The one the rebels would put you on once you fend off the assault. And I'm certain many tried to jump down onto the path to try to skip the fight. The result of attempting to do so leads to the player magically getting pushed away from the cliff face and plummeting to their doom in the water below. It appears Valve placed a trigger_push entity onto the cliff path to keep those curious players from skipping along. However, this can be abused.
As a stubborn player, I took notice of a tree hanging out the side of the cliff path. I took to jumping down and trying to wedge myself between the tree and part of the cliff's edge. The tree was at just the right angle, and in doing so, I effectively was able to keep the pusher entity from sending me off the cliff.
[t]http://imageshack.us/a/img850/7026/nbc0.jpg[/t]
I did not however, prevent this from happening:
[t]http://imageshack.us/a/img69/333/k586.jpg[/t]
It seems that the more inward you get yourself on the cliff path, the more force the pusher entity applies to you. As a result, I was sent rocketing upwards, all the way out into the water at the edge of the map as you see above. Humorously, the trigger_hurt entity applied to the water didn't even extend out this far as players are not supposed to be here. So I tried once more, and the second time around I was able to gain control of my momentum and got the pusher entity to instead send me flying off in the direction of the Laszlo antlion scene, ergo skipping the entire combine assault.
This probably really isn't that big of a deal, but I felt I should at least mention it. I've found other things like these, just don't know if it's worth mentioning them as some may or may not be considered tedious to pull off. Especially stacking procedures.

I think these are the kind of things that we should not put any effort into fixing, these skipping tricks work fine as a reward for people with the skill (or luck) to find them but are not as obvious as to disrupt the game for anyone who just wants to play the game normally.
Do you guys plan to add Lost Coast into the Enhancement? Lost Coast is a cut level from Half Life 2 which got made into Half Life 2: Lost Coast.
[editline]10th April 2014[/editline]
Also I was wondering if I could help by testing the mod, I can't program, do textures and I am not a good mapper, I only made one map for G-Mod, small apartment room.
