So getting back to the levels and mapping side, I would like more levels to make the game longer.
While we may not necessarily have the voice lines, could we possibly have the game made longer in some form?
Will there also be new assets created? Redone? Enhanced?

Can we at least have satchel charges?

If I can't drag bodies to read 'F*** off Combine', then what's the point?
I've been watching this thread for months and I really have to say, this is a HL2 Enhancement project. It says so in the title. It doesn't say "my dream version of hl2" or "what would you want to see in hl2 if someone else agreed to do whatever you said for free?". This applies to the stealth mechanic, the new guns that exist only to make you feel special, and all of the shit that sounds like it was taken out of a bad fanfiction. It doesn't enhance anything at all, there's no point or purpose behind a lot of them other than "it'd be cool fuck you". This has been going on for as long as I can remember.

I don't really see a problem with people throwing ideas; even if they're pretty dumb. Most of the time they're unnecessary or in some other way just impossible to do, but usually it's only one post and it's forgotten. Sometimes they could even be great ideas, who knows?
But what bothers me is that some of you keep on banging the same ideas over and over again, no matter how much everyone else says no. And then you throw the idea of "make it optional", as if this whole project wasn't hard enough on them. The fact that the arguments about the stealth and AK thing went as long as they did, which were actually relatively short considering some of the other arguments here, show that a lot of people coming here have no actual clue on what this mod actually is. They shouldn't add one feature just for your whimsical needs, especially if it makes the whole experience worse. Adding more shit is not enhancing.
Well you can pickup headcrabs now, but we probably won't let you pick up humanoid ragdolls. We could let you drag them around but that might be hard to implement.
Being able to drag ragdolls isn't hard to do, at least i don't think.
making them use full physics shouldn't be taxing either (as long as you make them noclip with player physics and NPCs) and if you wanted to put a more detailed stealth into the game (which i am totally welcome to as long as it doesn't go over board) being able to drag bodies is a somewhat important factor that many stealth games seem to forget to impliment.
also it would be amusing even if you ended up not implimenting more realistic ai that allows for stealth.
Well, maybe I only wanted stealth for one part of HL2(The combine-occupied house on the coast), but I already stealthily eliminated everyone there, so screw stealth. But maybe for the Combine's AI make them deal with the bigger threat, like instead of shooting you(unless Freeman IS the bigger threat), they shoot whatever else is there.

This isn't really a stealth game, so I'm really not seeing this happening.
Then there's all the "THIS IS HOW THE STORY GOES" arguments back from the friendly-fire discussion, and as far as I can tell, Gordon being a ninja doesn't really seem to fit with the canon unless he at some point when I wasn't looking grabbed his highly-experimental in-testing world-altering development console from Black Mesa that recognizes sv_cheats and notarget.

You don't need to make it a stealth game to give the AI more realistic behaviours. Gordon doesn't need to become a ninja (which is what i meant by "not going over board" in my original post).
stealth doesn't need to be a extremely viable option in gameplay, people are just asking for ai to not be as all knowing.
[editline]sd[/editline]
you don't need to over-exaggerate it like if they were to add it it would be as broken as your examples.
Just make stealth like PAYDAY 2. Each soldier has a pager and you need to keep all the other people down :v:
Good work. As i see mod have cute textures.

Asking for it to not be all-knowing, when I'm sure the combine have voicelinks, GPS, and heartrate monitors and such in their suits.
Makes sense.
Holy shit it's fucking Half-Life 2 don't add any stealth why is this even being discussed
Maybe make them rely on more human instincts, like sound. Killing soldiers will attract other soldiers to where they heard the death sound/shots/whatever.
[editline]19th April 2014[/editline]
Also make it so that you don't take damage from where your view is.
they're not rewriting the ai.
I'm pretty sure that the only stealth element they could add is a field of view for enemies, and a sound detection... thing.
/QUOTE]
Coming from the HL2 Modding community, I have seen a full-on stealth system implemented with lightmap-based player visibility. A larger number of dynamic light sources would make this difficult though

As long as it's not Black Mesa AI I couldn't really give a fuck less about it.
Do not deviate from valve's vision of Half-Life 2.
In one of the developer commentaries, one of the programmers mentioned the AI already taking sound and smell and a few other senses into account. Perhaps they need to be modified alittle?

"Hm, I smell smashed Headcrab guts."

Wouldn't they just smell a sweaty Gordon Freeman sneaking up behind them?
What will happen to the AI has been discussed thoroughly. The conclusion: There will definitely be no stealth. As stated by members outside of the mod team, and from within the team... "We will not deviate from valve's vision of Half-Life 2".
No more discussion about stealth pls.
Ok :)
First stealth and now lock picking? Are you people even serious right now? Do you know what kind of game Half-Life 2 is?
Just wow.
will lock picking be added?
Yeah, it's real easy though. Just take your crowbar, aim hold it over the lock (pad locks), and press Mouse 1.

He's just shitposting/trolling, ignore it
I predicted this would happen as the mod picked up in popularity, more people would show up, meaning more people giving shitty suggestions

You never know.
On other side, it would be kinda cool if there was through the whole game random amount of doors you could break in using your crowbar. Just throwing this out, nothing more.
Maybe some sort of easter egg (huehue no), like only door of this type in the whole game, behind them nice looking room, untouched by world's pain with table in it, on the table paperclip with names of all mod staff.
I wonder if the secondary shotgun fire can blast doors open in one shot.

it can't but that would be pretty neat tbh.
I'm in awe at how unfitting for Half-Life 2 some of the suggestions people bring to this thread are. Even more so with how much these people push to try and convince people that their out-of-place idea is justifiable. I guess some people were never born to be game designers.

there's a reason ideas guys are infamous for being absolutely terrible at what they do.
which amounts to nothing but they still think it's something

be even cooler if it flew off the hinges potentially killing Combine behind it.
Very like this Gravity Gun Manipulator textures/model and other modles in all. When this addon will release ?_?
