Well, maybe not with shotgun but Gravity Gun instead? That would be kinda neat feature. The normal GGun is strong enough to push around cars so I am pretty sure shooting doors out of their hinges shouldn't be a problem.

Can you make a seperate entity for the friendly Antlions in Nova Prospect so that they don't collide with the player? They get in my way a few too many times.

It would be a no brainer, but it also comes with some visual problems (especially to Human friendlies) such as really ugly clipping into them. Maybe soft collisions so you can sort of push past groups in hallways, but that seems like the only really effective method.

What could be nice is a line of sight or even just a line check from the player in their velocity vector which checks a certain number of frames worth of movement ahead, and if the NPC crosses that line they move away in the same way they do when you run against them.

Fixed it.
Just to make things clear, we aren't changing the ai for the most part, except to make them a bit smarter in dumb sections. (and that's something up to mappers like me)
Also the maps won't be too radically different except for extra detail, and cleaner lighting. (as well as more interesting lighting in bland areas) I'll probably be adding lots and lots of breakables though, since it's always fun to see things fall apart when hit by things.

They are physically simulated models
when i saw the traptown video, i thought that maybe you guys could make the barrels deformable by phys objects. doesn't have to be dynamic, you could make like 4 barrel models (maybe even different ones for when you use some really big objects or large impacts) and if the player hit the barrel from a certain direction it would crumple in the direction the phys object is coming from
