-snip it was just about the already discussed > on the vending machine-
Hey, does anyone know what those white patches on the civvies are?
I always thought it was their name or something.
What about some HL1 style intro ride in train through city 17 at begining?.. Riding through different parts of city(Whitnessing rebels escorting refugies for example)
already suggested, but yeah, it would feel kinda nice for the ride to take a bit longer. not HL1 longer, but just a bit, so we could see more stuff
but if this is a problem (it would be possible to see the citadel in the train and therefore the scene where you open the door in the trainstation plaza would lose its meaning), then so be it
i'm pretty sure this was discussed some time ago though, and the answer was no?
The most this mod will add gameplay-wise is maybe a few extra physics props, but other than that, the only changes here are purely aesthetic and bugfixes.
Also @yourself Do share a tour, we can definitely improve on ravenholm with plenty of models and better lightmaps.
I can't wait to see Raveholm if you do it like that ^_^
I come back from Easter hols and I see a lot of anger and frustration in this thread. Some of you peeps need to take a chill pill.

Ravenholm probably needs to be completely relit, it's the most rushed part of the game.
That said, guys please use our forums for suggestions please, it lets people who want to sort through them do so, and those who want to ignore it, do as such.

We already discussed this. (Like about 90% of suggestions :D) The conclusion was that this would disrupt the pacing of the trainstation levels by showing ahead of time the changes that happened while Gordon was in stasis, most of all, the appearance of the citadel.
EDIT: Meh, someone already wrote that ... note to self: read ALL new posts before answering.

How much artistic liberty are you allowed to take in Ravenholm anyway?
If you ask me i personally don't really care if you have to make some radical changes in the layout if you have to make some parts look up to snuff with "modern" standards.
is it still gonna be raining in Ravenholm? i can't remember if there was a decision on that or not
In City 17, can you guys add some sort of modern art we can destroy?
In City 17, can you guys add some sort of modern art we can destroy?
why are you still trying

TBH Ravenholm is rushed, depends on if the modellers have spare time, but I'm sure Stiffy is going to do a ton of improvements on layout and details.

Seems like some people in this thread can't read shit.
Also, if you give criticism make it constructive that means at least more than four words.
And if you noticed some top industry folks, most of them have a few hard edges.
Make the pistol sound better than the 'Puff' sound the original made.
Strelok already took care of that (I think). I think last time when he was showing preview of those sounds, majority was satisfied because while it was close to original sound, it was more booming and sounding like an actual pistol and not an gas-powered weapon.

i can read shit, you underestimate me.
i didn't have any other criticism to give.
yes i noticed top industry folks have few hard edges, but you don't have few, most of your edges are quite sharp.

The reading part is not personal, it just happens to much in this thread.
You could however be more specific about the edges, which you just did so thank you.
And ill try to soften some edges up tomorrow.

can that apply to pointless praise as well?

but yes, the slide's edges are way sharp... everything else looks right on tho

All praise has a point. No matter how many times different people give me the same compliment it still feels really good every time.

Bullshit. That's painfully hypocritical, and that is something that's incredibly wrong about this thread. Meaningless, vague, plentiful praise leads to no improvement, not reaching your full ability and sub-par work.
Looks good kwant, cant wait to see it textured.

If it's constructive, and polite, then absolutely.

I don't know about you but it motivates me and makes me want to do more.

I don't really ever see that kind of praise in this thread.
Usually it's:
"I made a new wall texture or sometime that looks nice"
Then winner ratings and such ensue, along with actual critiques posted afterwards.
Face it, if people see something not working, they're calling it out.
Then there's the motivation part. I've made a few maps for a mod, and I probably wouldn't even have finished the first map if it weren't for some people going "OMG IS THIS DECK 16? I LOVE WHOEVER MADE THIS OMG"
Like really, no praise leads to low care of finishing something and low care of finishing something leads to people going "fuck it."
