Should have the middle section of the plane from LOST on the beach. Could technically be legit, since Valve like to nod towards JJ Abrams's stuff due to his friendship with Gabe. :v:
Cinematic Mod tried that, looked like shit and totally unfitting to the enviroment.
Cinematic Mod tried that, looked like shit and totally unfitting to the enviroment.
It looked like shit because the plane was in mint condition and sticking diagonally out of the ground. If the player could only find shattered plane parts hinting to the LOST plane then it'd be more fitting.

Unsurprising. My suggestion wasn't serious.
At the same time, yeah. It wasn't bad because of the idea, it was bad because it was done wrong.

If we were ever to throw references like that into the game it would be better off hiding them away like they did with the hatch computer in the bunker. I enjoy easter eggs that you happen to catch out of the corner of your eye and never see coming.
Maybe more wreckage off the horizon of the coast. I do like the idea of showing that massive transportation has been completely shut down and left to rot, but a big squeaky clean commercial plane in your face half buried is the wrong way to do it.

TBH I think series references should be left to Valve. Throw one in EM and people'll just go "Oh cool, I guess the Enhancement Mod devs liked [form of media]."
It'd have a far lesser impact than Valve doing it.

I agrizzle. An obligatory Dopefish might be fun though.
Speaking of that plane idea, FAKEFACTORY (or whoever was the mapper) decided to place in debris all over the ground in attempt to make it look like loads of rubble... Can't remember what was said, but it certainly gets old to see.

I really kinda like what he did to the city's general composition. Fuck the scaffoldings and the outskirts though.
Honestly I feel that there should be something like a jet engine strewn about on the beach and some scattered bits here or there instead of the whole plane.
i was watching a walkthrough of the cinematic mod because i wondered how shit it looked and then i saw the description
I've been playing Half-Life 2 Cinematic Mod 10 for some time now and I had some requests to make a walkthrough of this amazing mod to show how beautiful and fantastic the graphics is in half-life 2 with Cinematic Mod 10 by FakeFactory. FakeFactory has truly done an amazing job with this mod. The Cinematic Mod 10 gives half-life 2 series high resolution textures to nearly all characters and objects in the game. The characters also now have new high polygon models. The mod also contains gameplay changes and tweaks. The music in the game has also been replaced with cinema themed music.
Great stuff guys, the vehicle pictures are especially helpful.

I don't remember how large his textures are, but they could be half their size and still look the same.
I believe a lot of them are at 4098 x 4098.
I believe a lot of them are at 4098 x 4098.
i thought 8196 x 8196
Ya, FakeFactory has a boner for large textures, like we are zooming in on every detail in a playthrough.
x100 of the texture = HD! I'm sure that went through FakeFactory's mind.
Let's ease the conversation away from Fakefactory and on-topic, though. We don't want to start another Fakefactory hate bandwagon derailment again.
Here are some reference pictures of the road signs used in Half Life 2.
The No-Stopping/Parking Sign, or the sign circular sign with a X on it. Used all across Europe.

The No Entry sign. These seem to be used in the UK only.

The Pedestrial Crossing sign. This one seems closest to the original.

But this blue squared version is more common. (Possible replacement for the old one?)

The 20 speed limit sign. It seems to be used on temporary speed limit signs in Spain.

I'm a bit tired, so correct me if I got something wrong.
There are a few road signs missing from here. Valve used signs all across the world (but mainly Europe) to get all these signs together for HL2.

Not as actual vehicles, just as extra roadside debris and such. A 'clean' version wouldn't be too bad either, I suppose. Could place them in an alley in C17 as an out-of-date and unused vehicle. Three types, maybe? Clean, rusty/dirty (obviously unused for some time) and damaged?
Also, bit of an odd suggestion, but maybe on the coast, have a troop transport truck that's been damaged and shot at years before, blood and skeletons/corpses inside, to show that there was a fight there. A bit gruesome, but if it's out of the way, perhaps put a medkit or some ammo in it. It would make for a "holy damn" moment if you didn't intend to find it
I don't think they plan on adding extra vehicles, but if they did I think the only ones they would choose out of those four would be the the VW Type 2 bus because they are practically all over the world and the UAZ-452 (UAZ loaf, not making this up) because its Russian
The second car is an Austin Maxi, which would be incredibly rare outside of england in the first place and would most likely never been seen in eastern Europe.
Same applies to the third car which is a 1949 ford, chances on finding one in eastern Europe are pretty slim.
What I am essentially trying to say is, one needs to consider the location of the game before adding props.
Edit:
I really like cars...
I think more vehicle prop variety would be nice.
[editline]28th April 2014[/editline]
Also, it makes since to have some vehicles seem relatively useable or less trashed since there are many cars in the universe that seem to have seen recent use, such as all the cars with the lights still on in the tunnels or that truck that ran over the combine soldier in highway 17.

Funny enough, I did search for Russian/Slavic vehicles, those came up. :>
I don't think more variants of car props is really worth the effort. I think more color variants of existing props would be enough.

Just set it up so the mapper can assign colors.

That's already being worked on right?
along with body grouped destruction and vehicle features

wait what were you replying to me
if so i wasn't being sarcastic, aren't cares going to have body grouped destruction and stuff? I remember seeing it before.
snip thought he was being sarcastic (unless he is in which case what a dick, right?)
